He’s probably in his zebra disguise when you first meet. I wouldn’t doubt that he’s doing some sort of investigation into the school
Happens to pass by the art section of the school, and your artwork catches his eye.
He ends up finishing what he was doing and swings back by the artwork to try and track down the artist. His curiosity gets the better of him
Ends up liking the artwork so much he asks your professor if it’s alright if he commissions you for a piece, or buy the artwork that’s already being displayed
It’s not until he buys at least three pieces that he meets you in person, and he’s honestly...a bit shocked and a bit unnerved that you’re a carnivore. He tries to hide it though, and does really well.
Doesn’t want to be rude and still ends up getting art from you...just less frequently. Eventually you confront him and ask if you’ve done something wrong. He just says he’s running out of room for artwork. Ironically you see through his shit, you don’t need 350 degree vision to know that you being, well, you made this jerk zebra change his interest in your work
You somehow manage to make him agree to coffee (or tea) to discuss what’s going on.
You end up talking for longer than he expected, and he finds he enjoys your company. It’s funny, the idea of who you were based on your work didn’t change to much after meeting you, but now he knows your name and face...and that you’re a carnivore.
You guys go out for more coffee/tea every now and again. It’s a slow friendship before it becomes anything else. Yafya is emotionally constipated, and it takes quite a few months before he really begins to understand he’s caught some feelings. Then he panics.
It’s not you, it’s 100% him.
Once he does grapple with his feelings is when he tells you who he really is, but doesn’t admit anything else. Again, he’s an mess emotionally. Trusting and then having that trust broken by Gosha has made him really self conscious about putting himself out there
It takes until the next year of you being in school before he tells you how he feels. Please be gentle with him. He acts like a big bad Beastar, but he’s emotionally vulnerable
Once you two start going out, he’s a supporter of your work. Whatever medium you work on, he gets you what you need. You may have to tell him to cut back, he may try to compensate his lack of emotional availability by gift giving. He’s trying.
Since you’re a younger carnivore, he’ll want to spar with you. If you’re not used to it, he’ll train you. Just because you’re a carnivore, doesn’t mean he doesn’t worry about you being at the university late.
He asks questions about your artwork, what inspires you and such. If you have a deadline to meet, he’ll support you with food or coffee/tea/ect
Kind of overprotective of you. He wont admit it but he’s worried you’ll leave him for someone else, or get hurts because of your association
Hug him. He’s so touched starved that he really needs it every now and again
Lay his head on your lap when his legs hurt.
If you do digital artwork and you’re not self conscious, he’d love to watch you draw. It relaxes him so he can sleep easier. He also just sleeps easier in general since he knows you have his back
