I'm sorry if this isn't your vibe but I love angst so I wanted to ask... how do you think the lions would react to falling in love with an herbivore and then finding out that herbivore got murdered and sold on the black market? From "reconsidering their whole worldview" to "it is what it is".

Divaa so sorry this took so long!! Also I’m not sure how to really write angst but imma give it a try!! Also, I really enjoyed this creator's work that discussed shishigumi loyalty, so I took a lot of inspo from here. So I might be a little more redundant with my writing for some of them. Also mb if this is short cuz of it lolol.

Ibuki

He’s more prone to the “it is what it is” mentality. We saw how he treated Louis when he tried to leave, even when he formed a close bond with him due to both of them being livestock in the market. 

He’d kinda just accept it. The only thing that is stuck at the back of his mind is if you suffered. He often finds himself wondering if the animal who killed you did it fast or made it painful for you. He definitely drinks a lot more in the comfort of his room.

Free

He convinces himself that you were just another fling, just one that stuck around longer. Outside of warning you about the type of lion he was, he knew that you knew the other consequence of being with him. He plays the blame game in his mind.

Indulges in more destructive behaviours. He does more drugs, drinking, driving erratically, and intentionally places himself in positions he knows he’ll get hurt. Anything to stop thinking about you. And if he can’t get you out of his head, he lights some incense in your honor and to clear his mind.

Dolph

He acts the most normal compared to everyone else. His habits don’t change, maybe just smoking one more cigar and having one more drink than usual. He doesn’t let the rest of the gang know, they have to hear the news from some other animal. He has the most ‘it is what is it’ mentality. He warned you and you weren’t careful. As heartless as it sounds, he believes it and it keeps him from hurting more.

Where it shows the most is in his temperament and mane. He isn’t as caring for it and neither is his patience. He’s quicker to snap and be meaner, even to Agata, but right after every yell or snarky nitpick, you can see a twinge of sadness in his eyes. He doesn’t mean to, but he feels he should’ve been like this with you to avoid you getting killed.

Agata

Probably the most distraught out of everyone. He does a lot of thinking to himself, a part of him fearing that if he expressed any feeling of leaving the syndicate, there’d be worse consequences.

He ultimately stays, but blames himself for your death, thinking that in some way you being involved with him led to you being targeted. Or whether he introduced you to the wrong people, if he was careless about your information. He gives up on finding any other partner, and slowly stops being the silly young recruit of the group. 

Miguel

The most expressive in how he processes his feelings. His strict routines halt once he hears the news. No one can get him out of bed or to even do his work, given his size. He’s stuck in drinking and smoking in bed, only stopping when he sleeps. He knew that this was a possibility, but didn’t really think it’d happen. He was the last lion any animal would go threaten or hurt a loved one, yet it still happened. 

His sense of security is broken. Although eventually he gets out of bed and back to training recruits and his routine, he is more scared. He’s more wary of his friends, afraid of losing someone else, and takes up a lot of Ibuki’s behaviours. 

Sabu

As much as he cherished his relationship with you, his loyalty to the Shishigumi trumps his relationship with you in terms of years and mental capacity. His entire life has been his comrades and knowing every possible thing that could’ve hurt you. If you had been killed despite all the precautions he took, he takes it as “it wasn’t meant to be.”

Leaving didn’t cross his mind in the slightest. He’s upset and even harder to converse with for a very long time, but he goes back and gets comfort from his decade long friendships. He keeps an altar of you by a window, and he likes looking at you every sunset. 

Jinma

One of the few lions that goes to find the animal who killed you. Using his resources he’s able to find the assailant, but can’t bring himself to do anything. He knows that just like him, the animal was simply abiding by the black market's demand. He thinks about all the times he’s eaten meat, wondering how many other animals’ soulmates he’s consumed. 

He feels like a big coward. No matter how many drunken nights he’s wandered into the same meat owner's stand, he can never get himself to even whisper a word. He tries to stop eating meat cold turkey, but it only goes on for so long. His consumption of meat decreases, he only eats when his withdrawals become unbearable.He gets into the habit of giving a small prayer after eating meat.

Dope

Using Jinma, he manages to find the animal who killed and sold you. Their business goes down the gutter. They’re evicted and thrown out of the market by the end of the week. But that is as far as his mourning goes, knowing that he ruined the person who killed you is enough.

He can’t afford to be upset, angry, and grieve properly, it’d ruin the Shishigumi. His need to do right by the gang is far more important than you at the moment. However in his quiet moments, he lets himself think about you. He cries, curses the animal who made you suffer, and drinks. But he goes back to normal the minute he knows he needs to get work done.

Hino

Part of him refuses to go back to his line of work. He can’t stand going to talk to others, knowing he can’t go back home to you for genuine connection. His work begins to suffer, his sleeping schedule worsens ten-fold, and he’s overall a bigger asshole to everyone around him.

Eventually there’s a small intervention from the rest of the gang, mostly because a lot of their contracts fell through because of him. He does think that the easiest way out would be to flat out leave, making sure someone found him to end it for him. But he feels bad for ruining things for his comrades, so he eventually goes back to working. But everyone else can feel a change in him.

I'd like to see more stories on gohin being a father to a human girl. There no doubt in my mind that he'd be one of the best dads in the world. He'd get yn chocolate when she's on her period because he heared somewhere that it helps. He'd spoil this girl, while making sure she knows right from wrong and can protect herself. Gohin would be protective of yn. I see yn being in both drama and gardening club.

I can literally see him having baby yn on his chest and yn just laying there, loving the softness of gohin's fur. Or him dressing up for a tea party.

Honestly i feel like he'd be a girl dad.

I'm an artist as well,but I can't draw anthropomorphic animals even at gun point. I'm striving to practice in drawing and to also replicate Paru Itagaki's art style for beastars.

If Reader was to be put in a dorm room with anyone you'd think it would be sphinx Cats? Or any other hairless species? Since they have shared temp needs (aka the heating higher in their room bc no fur). Like it makes sense, and it spares heat money, and saves the trouble for arguements over the thermostat.

Or would reader be alone? Ngl i would prefer to be by myself, i go insane without my personal space.

So in canon reader lives in a single dorm while at school, and while I've seen some people suggest that they would stay with apes since they're human ancestors, but I think that the Cherryton staff would care more about reader's safety in the light of Tem's murder rather than truly unifying them with animals.

Deep down, reader's presence at Cherryton is meant to help their image after a murder and uphold Cherryton's ideals of coexistence between species. Because of this, they're not necessarily trying to integrate reader within the school by having them live with other animals, they don't even push them to join clubs or social events, but they care about keeping them alive so they can uphold their image.

Hii :) yknow how we wear animal patterns on our clothes? (Cheetah, zebra, Leopard, etc...).

You think it would be seen as a sort of mockery in beastars? Like, they fear/mock us but then turn around and dress up as us type thing? Or they would see it as some sort of appreciation?

Here's the thing, I don't think animal patterns really exist in the Beastars universe. I could be wrong, but I just don't think animals would really have the desire to wear the patterns of other animals on clothing, even if it's fake. It's one of those things that would just fall out of fashion and no longer exist over time.

I love your beastars au!, and it got me thinking, would humans still hold unto their culture? Specifically like their dances, painting and songs? Like how indigenous people all around the world would pass down these arts from generation to generation to try and preserve it. If they did then what would the animals think if reader would tell them about it or even show them a few dances and songs?

I've danced in between humans retaining parts of their culture and humans retaining nothing. I think it genuinely really depends on what humans consider "useful" or "needed." It varies from cultures to cultures, but I do think some languages are lost, some arts and histories too. It's not necessarily purposeful, but after years of humans being endangered I imagine things are lost to time. However, I think some things are remembered, like things that link back to different animals. For example, I've always believed that some indigenous languages were the birthing points of sea animal languages. As such, these languages are more remembered and practiced.

I imagine that there are some current human practices that are inspired by past human cultures, but I just don't imagine they are as wildly practiced. Other than the most common religious practices and holidays (and even then I think it's rare), many human cultures are lost to time unless kept up by their communities. Some communities rewrite books, some write songs, some keep religion alive, but nothing is large enough to really have that big of an impact.

On the occasions one of you is underdressed or casually naked around the other, he’s less embarrassed and more concerned about whether you’re cold. Weirdly more comfortable with free-boobing than seeing you do it.

Constantly dragging you into reckless fun like doing donuts in empty parking lots after bars close. Keeps insisting he can teach you how to ride a motorcycle.

Insanely thoughtful gift giver for your birthday or any special occasions. Also always has your back if you ever need anything last minute.

Secret Facebook mom type when it comes to pictures. He’s always taking photos whenever you guys go out, and he has an entire collection of videos of you drunk and doing something stupid.

Agata

Since he gets stuck with a ton of work because he can handle it since he’s younger, a lot of your time together ends up being late-night gaming sessions while he half-focuses on gang business.

Probably the member who spends the most time around regular civilians and animals outside the Shishigumi, so he’s weirdly easy to introduce to friends despite being a whole ass mob lion.

Miguel

You two downloaded one of those poop tracker apps as a joke and somehow never stopped using it. So each of you know whenever one needs fiber or is just blowing it up.

The most physically affectionate friend by far. Randomly picks you up, throws an arm around you, starts wrestling in the middle of the mansion or on the sidewalk after drinking.

Sabu

Concert and tattoo convention duo. You guys are always finding random underground shows or walking into places giving out questionable free flash tattoos.

Always dragging you to try café food he orders because he can’t comfortably dine in with the mask on without looking suspicious. The two of you end up doing giant pastry mukbangs together, especially if you’re high

Jinma

Massive comic nerd, you two go to stores and geek out about new issues or tv adaptations of the comics.

You guys own matching dumb shirts, matching slippers, and golf dad hats. He also insists on taking you far away from the Black Market whenever you hang out so nobody catches him lacking with his fit.

Dope

Sends you an absurd amount of reels and TikToks every single day and reacts to every video you send back. He had to lock back in because he realized he was falling into the brain-rot rabbit hole.

The type to randomly show up at your place just to “hang out for 20 minutes” and somehow stays for six hours.

Hino

You two basically run a TV-show book club together. You save episodes so you can watch separately and then spend hours discussing them afterward.

Likes feeling useful whenever he’s around you, so he’s always carrying groceries, fixing broken stuff around your apartment, or helping with random chores.
