harry is very much like a sibling to me. im so proud and full of adoration but i WILL square up any chance i can bc lord knows they need to be humbled 😤 in turn harry brings such i am standing at your bedroom door silently to annoy you just to say i love you when you eventually get fed up energy🧍people that get it get it.
I get that it’s easier for people to just say a character is Latine, and we’re just supposed to know what they mean because of bias that tells us Latine automatically means brown/Mexican, but Latine is not a race, and there are white Latines, mixed race Latines, Afro-Latines, etc. etc. so I get that it’s a nice short hand and a lot of us use it as an umbrella term for sure, it just means from Latin America.... but that could be ANYONE of ANY race, and I don’t think people really understand this so please try and be mindful! I know it’s easy to just say, x char is Latine, I do it all the time, but I also try and specify afterwards or make a point of letting people know I’m using it as an umbrella term. (Ex: this character is Latine! Speficially a mixed race Tejano)
I just think it’s important to know since I see it quite a bit! and as always Hispanic/Latine are not interchangeable, as not every Latino is Hispanic and not ever Hispanic is Latino! (And it can get a little sketchy if you mean Spaniard (Hispanic NOT Latine) since ya know... they colonized a lot of us so please be careful with that!) Hope this helps :>
