3: First book that had a major influence on you
The Nancy Drew series. I wasn’t big on reading when I was younger, but when I started the Nancy Drew series, I realized I wanted to be a writer. I owe the rest of my life to Nancy Drew ♥
5: Favorite series and why
The Mortal Instruments. I absolutely love urban fantasy for young adults, and it included a lot of the lore that I am interested in (faeries, especially). I love the dynamics between characters. Another big series for me is the Fever Series, which is entirely based on Irish lore. It’s what made me go into Celtic Studies.
16: Rant about anything book related
Okay, but I really hate the stigma surrounding Young Adult novels. One of my friends constantly bags on Young Adult novels, saying they’re “for children” and stuff like that (she says the same things about animated movies). But they’re not? It’s a marketing term; it doesn’t define the genre or the content within the books. Young Adult novels are amazing - they deal with so many big issues that young adults these days are dealing with, in a huge variety of settings (urban fantasy; fantasy; science fiction; historical; contemporary; etc.). You can pick and choose what you’d rather read about, and there’s enough out there that everyone can find a character which with they can relate. That’s so important for young adults and teenagers, and I don’t understand why people who are young adults themselves (early 20′s) have to make these books seems like some sort of breach in quality literature. No one is more mature for reading high brow lit than someone who prefers YA.

28: An ending you wish you could change
Maybe I didn’t analyze it well enough, but I really hated the ending to The Great Gatsby. To me, nothing seemed resolved. I basically don’t like American Lit for this reason.
29: Favorite female protagonist.
Oh my goodness so many. Andi Alpers; Celaena Sardothien; Katniss Everdeen; Clary Fray; MacKayla Lane; Nora Grey; Tory Brennan; Cather Avery; I just really like female protagonists alright.
40: Has there ever been a book you wish you could un-read?
The Great Gatsby. Yawn.
