Yamaha’s 2024 MT-09 SP: A Deeper Level of Darkness
Ten years ago, Yamaha changed the game with the introduction of a radical new machine which kick-started the Hyper Naked revolution and changed everything in the world of motorcycling. The three-cylinder MT-09 was a bike like no other. Deviating from the norms of Japanese motorcycle design, this new model sought its inspiration from the edgy and dynamic motorcycle urban sub-culture found on the streets of Japan's largest cities – the Dark Side of Japan. The result was a bold and exciting machine that stimulated the senses with every twist of the throttle, introducing another dimension to riding and the start of a new era for Yamaha. Over 385,000 MT models have been sold across Europe since, each and every one of them inspiring motorcycle riders from young to old with their exhilarating torque-rich performance and aggressive, edgy styling.
The New MT-09: Sharper, Purer, More Refined The MT-09 marks its 10th anniversary with a comprehensive new bodywork intended to amplify the feeling of the CP3's iconic torquey acceleration. The styling concept behind the MT-09 has always been that of 'functional beauty', eliminating unnecessary features and embodying a 'less is more' approach. Each detail has been re-considered to reinforce the MT-09's pure aggression and maximise an engaged riding experience. And for those seeking a refined, ultimate Dark Side of Japan experience, the new MT-09 SP takes the already exceptional MT-09 platform even further with a higher specification including upgraded suspension and brakes, an exclusive look and finish plus track-focused technology and electronics.
Superior Darkness: 2024 MT-09 SP Additional Track Focused YRC Settings For 2024, the MT-09 features new Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) modes which allow riders to maximise the performance of the 890cc CP3 engine by selecting engine power characteristics and altering the degree of assistance from the various electronic aids (Traction Control System, Slide Control System etc.). Riders can choose from SPORT, STREET and RAIN modes with the option to fine tune two further CUSTOM settings. The MT-09 SP exclusively features the addition of TRACK modes to the YRC settings, enabling the rider to customise four extra patterns to suit certain track scenarios, for example a specific circuit or track conditions. The individual TRACK modes allow for more refined, specialised settings, including the option of choosing between two Engine Brake Management (EBM) settings and the ability to alter the level of Brake Control (BC). Additionally, riders also have the option of turning the rear ABS off to further enhance on track performance. Each mode can be altered and set directly in the dashboard menu or using the free MyRide app on a smartphone before being sent to the MT-09 SP, where riders can switch between each mode effortlessly using the newly designed switchgear. The on-track riding experience is further enhanced by a dedicated SP-exclusive TRACK theme for the MT-09 SP's new 5" full colour TFT display, offering information such as a lap timer and other track-focused details. Brembo Stylema Calipers The superior specification of the MT-09 SP is designed to further amplify the exhilarating performance both on the road and on the track. The introduction of new Brembo monoblock ‘Stylema’ calipers refines braking performance with the very latest technology from the famous Italian firm. The ‘Stylema’ calipers feature a slimmer piston and brake pad area compared to conventional calipers, as well as being lighter, more rigid and offering enhanced control in braking input. In addition, larger-diameter pistons are adopted for increased braking forces, allowing MT-09 SP riders to experience the next level in braking performance.
Upgraded Fully Adjustable Suspension SP-exclusive premium suspension, front and rear, brings Supersport-level handling and precision to the Hyper Naked class. The gold-finish DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coated, 41mm KYB forks and Öhlins monoshock feature a higher spring rate, offering outstanding stability during more spirited, sporty riding. In addition, the damping characteristics have been refined to enhance the comfort of the ride. The higher specification KYB forks offer full adjustability for preload, re-bound and compression dampening allowing SP riders the option to fine-tune their set-up to suit a variety of different riding situations. The Öhlins monoshock completes the MT-09 SP's high-end suspension package, offering full adjustability for compression and re-bound damping as well as being equipped with a remote preload adjuster to enable quick and easy changes. Smart Key System Yamaha’s SP models are renowned for taking the next leap in technological advancement and the MT-09 SP becomes the first Hyper Naked to feature Yamaha’s Smart Key System. The engine is started by pressing and turning the newly designed main switch, provided that the smart key is within a specified range such as in the rider’s pocket. The all-new switch also features a lock and unlock option for the fuel tank cap, further simplifying the riding experience through the ability to turn the bike on, off and re-fuel at the twist of a switch. Exclusive R1M-inspired Icon Performance Colours In line with keeping one eye on the track, the MT-09 SP features the exclusive silver, black and Yamaha Racing blue Icon Performance livery on the fuel tank and air-intakes to offer an even more aggressive and exclusive look. The Supersport-inspired colourway reinforces the MT-09 SP’s sporty character and highlights the close technological links to the R1M – the most advanced high-performance production Yamaha ever built. The high quality, premium finish is exemplified by the classy, brushed aluminium swingarm, exclusive to the MT-09 SP.

Unleash your Darkness with the Next Generation MT-09
The Dark Knight: Unleash your Darkness with the Next Generation MT-09. Sharper new look, refined riding position, intelligent technology The Purest Hyper Naked As the original Hyper Naked born out of the Dark Side of Japan, the MT-09 has always been the purest of all MT models, with its dark and mysterious aesthetic and grin-inducing performance leaving a lasting impression on every rider. The game-changing MT-09 broke cover in 2013, just one year after the triple-cylinder CP3 engine concept was first shown suspended in an intricate wire frame at the Cologne Motorcycle Show. The first MT-09 brought pure emotion and excitement back to the world of motorcycling, kick-starting the Hyper Naked revolution that would change everything. For 2024, Yamaha has taken the MT-09 to the next level of Darkness, combining intelligence and style, further pursuing the sharpened purity of the Dark Side of Japan. The new MT-09 offers an even more thrilling riding experience with pure adrenaline, aggressive and edgy styling and a premium specification featuring the latest in technological advancements.
A Decade of the Dark Side of Japan The introduction of the MT-09 marked a step away from conventional Japanese motorcycle design and introduced a bold, abstract new direction for Yamaha inspired by the unique urban motorcycle sub-culture found on the streets of Japan’s largest cities. Signifying an exciting new era for Yamaha, the MT-09 featured aggressive styling, a chassis designed for the most agile handling and a torque-laden CP3 engine, with aesthetics and performance designed to stimulate the senses. Stripped of unnecessary bodywork, packed neatly into a compact aluminium frame and equipped with Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T), the MT was the perfect blend of high performance, cutting-edge technology and purposeful functionality. The new dawn was here and the Dark Side of Japan was unleashed upon the world.
The Beginning of a Hyper Naked Revolution Over the years, the MT-09 has evolved into one of the most significant and successful models in the Yamaha range, earning its status as one of the most iconic motorcycles in Yamaha’s history. The MT-09’s introduction was soon reinforced by the arrival of the MT-07, another highly successful motorcycle that established itself as the runaway market leader for many consecutive years. The Hyper Naked segment is now one of the most important and successful in Yamaha’s range, featuring a total of eight models progressing through the experience levels from the learner-friendly 125cc MT-125 to the 1000cc MT-10 SP, the halo model of the line-up. New MT-09: Sharper, Purer, More Refined A Slimmer, Sharper New Look The MT-09 marks its 10th anniversary with a comprehensive new design intended to amplify the feeling of the CP3’s iconic torquey acceleration. Based on the concept of ‘3D Riding’, allowing the rider to move more freely on the machine, the 2024 MT-09 bodywork is inspired by Yamaha’s YZ motocross bikes, which also require a high degree of freedom in riding position. The styling concept behind the MT-09 has always been that of 'functional beauty', eliminating unnecessary features and embodying a 'less is more' approach. Each and every detail has been reconsidered to reinforce the MT-09’s pure aggressive look and maximise an engaged riding experience.
More Compact LED Headlamp A new LED headlamp, enclosed in a redesigned cover, creates a more unified relationship between the headlamp and the fuel tank and is inspired by the MT’s origins – a blend of ‘Naked’ and ‘Motard’. The bi-functional LED projector headlight has been enhanced, featuring a compact diameter lense module that is both smaller and thinner than the previous model, but which still provides a broad and powerful beam with soft edges for both low and high beam settings. Transparent twin LED position lights express a cool look with a sense of concentration to complete the MT-09’s more compact, sharp and aggressive style. This theme is continued at the rear with a newly designed LED tail light. The tail light and brake lights are separated to align with the new outer lens shape. And to give the whole rear a slimmer look, the upper tail light lens is red, while the bottom has a smoked finish. Sharpened Fuel Tank Design A new fuel tank has been designed to promote a more engaged and free riding position while maintaining the sharp and edgy aesthetic that has become synonymous with the MT name. Produced using a new press moulding manufacturing method, the new tank offers sharper character with clearly defined edges and tense styling unique to the MT models.
A More Engaged Riding Experience Amplified CP3 Acoustics The grin-inducing roar of the MT-09 is one of its most defining characteristics, evoking a sense of pure adrenaline with every twist of the throttle. Following the Jin-Ki Kanno philosophy to stimulate the rider’s senses and make them feel at one with the bike, sound was an important consideration in the development of the latest EU5+ CP3 engine. The new MT-09’s sound is further amplified by a revised airbox featuring two newly designed air-intake ducts, which accentuate the high frequency sounds while maintaining a linear throttle response. This sound is then emphasised, especially at higher speed and revs, by the introduction of a new acoustic amplifier grille on top of the bike, delivering the CP3’s vibrant note directly to the rider. Redefined Riding Position The MT-09 is renowned for its stability and agility and this has been enhanced by refined ergonomics with modifications to the handlebar/footrest/seat relationship to improve rider comfort and offer greater freedom in movement for different riding styles, while maintaining a sporty forward-lean riding position. In order to achieve this, the overall handlebar position is now lower and the rider can now choose between two adjustable handlebar positions depending on their personal preference and physique. The steering angle is also increased as a result of the lower profile fuel tank. The newly designed footrests are 30.6 mm back compared to the previous model and have been raised by 9.5 mm, while the footrest height can be adjusted to two different positions based on rider preference. To improve passenger comfort, the tandem footpegs have also been redesigned and are now mounted underneath the rear frame. Details Matter: New Brake and Gear Shift Pedals Each and every detail of the MT-09 has been reconsidered in order to further improve the riding experience. The rear brake pedal has been redesigned and is now made from forged aluminium, while the tip of the gear shift pedal has been significantly flattened to reduce the amount of ankle movement required during shifting, enabling smoother operation.
Separated Rider and Passenger Seats To further enhance the feeling of freedom, the MT-09 now features a separated front and rear seat, improving both rider position and convenience when mounting and dismounting the machine. The step between the two seats also functions as a means of keeping the rider forward and over the front of the machine as the MT-09’s torque is unleashed, while the overall seat design improves rider agility. A Type-C USB socket is installed under the rider’s seat to accommodate the charging of electronic equipment and electric heating wear. Brembo Radial Master Cylinder: Linear Power, Total Control In order to match the MT-09’s high torque and acceleration, stopping power is enhanced by a new Brembo radial master cylinder, which moves in the same direction as the brake lever, resulting in a linear relationship between rider input and hydraulic brake pressure to the dual front brake discs for excellent controllability. In addition, a newly designed adjustable clutch lever offers the rider further control when engaging the clutch. Fully Adjustable Front Suspension and Bridgestone S23 Tyres The MT-09’s 41 mm KYB® front forks are fully adjustable for preload, compression and re-bound damping and now feature revised factory settings to achieve excellent stability. The rear suspension linkage design has been modified and the adjustable KYB® rear shock set to allow for a more dynamic feeling in cornering, while new Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 M tyres offer high grip and light handling.
More Intelligent Technology 5” TFT Full Colour Screen The 2024 MT-09 is equipped with a range of next-level technology to enhance the overall package and riding experience while remaining true to the Dark Side of Japan concept many have come to love. An all-new, horizontally mounted 5” TFT full colour screen offers the rider an attractive new interface with the choice of four different themes to suit a range of different riding experiences. Smartphone Connectivity and Navigation For an enriched riding experience, connectivity comes as standard on the MT-09 via a built-in Communication Control Unit (CCU), meaning riders can stay connected while riding by linking their smartphone with their machine via the free MyRide app. As well as seeing call and message notifications on the 5” TFT display, a new dimension is added to the ride by the possibility of taking calls and listening to music via a Bluetooth headset*. Once connected, riders can also make use of the free Garmin StreetCross navigation system, which will display on the 5” TFT dashboard. Riders can also personalise the TFT display even further by sending images from their smartphone via the MyRide app using the Information Transfer feature. There is also the option to provide power to external devices with the new under-seat USB Type-C socket. *Bluetooth headset not included with MT-09
Intuitive New Switchgear New integrated handlebar switch assemblies enable the rider to operate the wider range of functions of the new MT-09, including smartphone connectivity, navigation and riding modes, as well as navigating the further menu options. Featuring a clear, logical and simple design – the shape, movement and ergonomic layout of the buttons have been designed with intuitive movement in mind, meaning riders can cycle through the various different functions with ease. Customisable Riding Modes with Yamaha Ride Control Settings New for 2024, MT-09 riders can now further customise their riding experience via the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) settings, which allow the rider to select engine power characteristics and the level of electronic intervention to suit their preferences and road conditions. Three integrated riding modes, ‘Sport’, ‘Street’ and ‘Rain’ featuring factory settings with different intervention levels to suit various conditions are complemented by the option to pre-set two Custom modes. This allows the creation of specific YRC settings to suit certain situations (weather, location, etc.) by altering the level of electronic support such as Power (PWR), Traction Control System (TCS) and LIF (Lift Control) – all of which can be set directly through the MT-09’s dashboard or using a smartphone via the MyRide app. These personalised settings can be sent to the machine from the rider’s smartphone and cycled between with ease while riding using the all-new switchgear.
Extra Support from Advanced six-axis IMU for Ultimate Performance In 2021, the third-generation MT-09 became the first Hyper Naked to be equipped with the high-tech six-axis IMU directly developed from the R1. Constantly measuring acceleration in the forwards-backwards, up-down and left-right directions – as well as the angular velocity in the machine’s pitch, roll and yaw directions – the six-axis IMU is able to send data in real time to the ECU, which controls the suite of electronic rider aids, including the lean sensitive Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS), as well as a front wheel Lift Control System (LIF) and Brake Control System (BC). This suite is further enhanced for the 2024 MT-09 with the addition of a Back Slip Regulator (BSR), which offers stabilisation when the rear wheel locks under excessive engine braking by controlling the level of torque produced. This is especially useful in situations when it is difficult to activate the slipper clutch, such as when grip is low. Cruise Control for Effortless Riding In addition to the comprehensive electronic rider aids, the new MT-09 is also equipped with a cruise control system to enhance the overall riding experience by offering a more relaxed option for motorway riding. Operational in third gear and above, once the cruise control system has been activated, it can be adjusted in 1 km/h increments with a single push of the button or steadily increased by holding the button down. The system is cancelled whenever the brakes, clutch or throttle is engaged. Soft-click and Auto-cancelling Turn Signals For a more intuitive and convenient riding experience, a soft-click of the indicator switch will flash the turn signals three times for use when lane-changing or when only brief indication is required. A full-click of the switch will result in continuous flashing until 15 seconds have passed and until the machine has travelled more than 150 metres. A new Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function reacts to sudden braking by engaging the hazard lights to warn road users behind the vehicle is stopping at speed in an emergency situation. Third-Generation Quickshifter The new MT-09 is equipped with the third-generation quickshifter, enhancing the ride by enabling clutchless downshifts while accelerating and clutchless upshifts under deceleration. To maintain a more natural feeling, the third-generation quickshifter will not operate in certain situations when engine rpm is extremely low or high, and when the machine is neither accelerating nor decelerating. In these circumstances, the quickshifter icon on the new TFT display will indicate whether the quickshifter can be used.

New Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Rally
Yamaha’s ultimate high specification long distance adventure bike. The new Ténéré 700 World Rally represents the ultimate version of Yamaha’s long distance adventure bike and can trace its heritage back to the very beginning of the world’s toughest race. The story began back in 1979 when Yamaha won the first ever Dakar Rally. Inspired by this success and encouraged by the growing interest in long distance rally events, the company embarked upon the development of a machine that would forever change the motorcycle world. Introduced in 1983, the original Ténéré is recognised as one of the most influential and iconic motorcycles of the 20th century. Equipped with a large capacity fuel tank, rugged chassis and high torque engine, Yamaha’s first ever Adventure bike gave thousands of riders the opportunity to go to faraway places and discover new horizons. No other Adventure bike comes close to matching the pure racing heritage of the legendary Yamaha Ténéré. Not only did it enable a whole new breed of moto adventurers to live their dreams – it also inspired many riders to compete in the world’s toughest Rally events that have tested the rider and machine to the limit. Team Yamaha’s annual Dakar campaigns witnessed some incredible performances by desert specialists including Yamaha Motor France CEO Jean Claude Olivier – and of course desert legend Stéphane Peterhansel who took six victories with Yamaha and ensured his name will live forever in the record books. To pay tribute to these riders and the machines they rode, Yamaha is launching a special version of the Ténéré that blends true racing heritage with modern day performance.
Tenere World Rally 2023 with Stephane Peterhansel livery of 1993 XT750 Super Tenere Ténéré 700 World Rally – the premium desert stormer Featuring iconic factory racing colours inspired by Stéphane Peterhansel’s 1993 Dakar race bike, the new Ténéré 700 World Rally is the most exclusive model in the 2023 Yamaha Adventure range, celebrating Yamaha’s remarkable Rally performances with a range of different Ténéré models over the past 40 years. Its rally-ready specification includes premium long travel KYB suspension systems, as well as 23-litre dual side-mounted fuel tanks, an exclusive Akrapovič titanium muffler and a dedicated flat 2-piece seat – and there’s also a 5-inch colour TFT meter with smartphone connectivity, 3-mode switchable ABS and an Öhlins adjustable steering damper. Historic Yamaha Rally Racing colours With its bold new blue, pink fluo and silver historic rally racing colours based on the design used on Stéphane Peterhansel’s 1993 factory bike, the Ténéré 700 World Rally celebrates Yamaha’s winning Dakar history and pays homage to all of the heroic factory riders who have ridden in the world’s toughest event. The same colours will be used by Yamaha riders Alessandro Botturi and Pol Tarrés in their 2023 race programme where they will test their Ténéré factory bikes to the limit. Lightweight Akrapovič slip-on muffler Premium components feature throughout this new flagship Adventure bike. During its first 10 years the XMAX family firmly established itself as the best-selling range of Sport Scooters, and in 2017 the introduction of the XMAX 300 further strengthened Yamaha’s position as the number one brand in the European scooter market with over 70,000 sold in the past 5 years. Against a background of over 750,000 TMAX and XMAX scooters sold in two decades, Yamaha announces the all new XMAX models for 2023. Featuring a radical new look together with advanced new connected instruments, improved riding comfort and enhanced functionality, the XMAX 300 Tech MAX, XMAX 300, XMAX 125 Tech MAX and XMAX 125 underline Yamaha’s commitment to providing a premium Sport Scooter range. Offering everyone the ultimate riding experience while inspiring unrivalled pride of ownership, the new connected XMAX range represents one of the biggest steps forward in Yamaha Sport Scooter design in recent years. All-new XMAX 300 Tech MAX: More MAX than ever! The dynamic MAX line never stands still, and one of the secrets to its remarkable success over the last 15 years is ongoing evolution – both technologically and stylistically. For 2023 the new XMAX 300 Tech MAX comes with an even more dynamic look and feel to further underline its status as the ultimate mid-sized Sports Scooter that inspires a genuine and special pride of ownership. While being careful to retain its distinctive and much-loved MAX character, Yamaha’s styling designers have created all new bodywork with radically new lighting that fully engages and thrills the rider. Offering high levels of agility in urban traffic while also delivering a sporty riding experience with class-leading comfort, the new XMAX 300 Tech MAX is built to exceed the expectations of new and existing MAX owners. Yamaha’s styling designers have focused on creating a whole new look with a more flowing and tightly packed body that accentuates the machine’s outstanding sports character and manoeuvrability. Virtually every part of the XMAX 300 Tech MAX’s sleek and sporty exterior has been redesigned to create an even more impressive machine that offers the very best balance of performance, style, comfort and functionality. Changes are much more than skin deep, and XMAX 300 Tech MAX riders can now also benefit from smartphone connectivity and Garmin compatible navigation through the new multi-theme 4.2-inch colour TFT instruments – while ride quality is refined, and the ownership experience is elevated with improvements to riding comfort, braking feel and overall finish. Designed for those riders who desire a high specification together with outstanding value, the XMAX 300 ‘standard’ model benefits from the all-new body design seen on the premium XMAX 300 Tech MAX – and is equipped for 2023 with an all new 4.3-inch LCD screen with smartphone connectivity.
Dynamic and futuristic new body XMAX 300 Tech MAX’s front fairing has been redesigned to give a futuristic and tightly condensed look that gives it unrivalled presence on the street. More angular upper panels with a straight leading edge convey a feeling of strength, and the new fairing is complemented by the fitment of newly styled fork covers. Its bold and sporty new looks are reinforced by the fitment of higher-mounted flashers either side of the windscreen that are clearly visible to other road users when the rider is filtering through dense traffic – and when viewed from the front the new fairing and fork covers give an impression of an inverted triangle that reinforces the sense of agility. Tightly packed mass forward profile The all new front fairing is complemented by a new side profile that features a much more condensed and athletic look which accentuates the dynamism and sporting character of the new XMAX 300 Tech MAX. The distinctive and iconic MAX family boomerang side covers have been redesigned to create a forceful and tightly packed mass forward body design that gives an impression of forward motion and strong performance – even when standing still. On the machine’s left side, the new style three-dimensional boomerang gives a smooth and strong visual flow from the unit swing arm through to front of the seat and then on to the front wheel axle to create a connected and coordinated look. It’s the same on the right side, where the boomerang gives an uninterrupted flow from the muffler through to the front wheel to give a left/right symmetrical design that underlines the new XMAX 300 Tech MAX’s premium looks and high quality coordinated finish. XMAX 300 Tech MAX is equipped with motorcycle-type front forks, and the new mass forward bodywork and flowing lines focus attention on the machine’s front end and accentuate the feelings of agility. The new model also benefits from scratch resistant body panels next to the passenger footrests, and the new boomerang incorporates left and right side outlets that route heat away from the engine.
All-new 4.2-inch colour TFT: smartphone connectivity and navigation The XMAX 300 Tech MAX is equipped with one of the most impressive dashboards to be found on any Sport Scooter. This comprehensive instrumentation features an all-new high-tech 4.2-inch colour multi-theme TFT infotainment display that gives the rider smartphone connectivity, and the screen can also function as an onboard navigation system. The built in Communication Control Unit (CCU) enables Bluetooth connectivity between the scooter and the user’s smartphone, and once Yamaha’s free MyRide app is downloaded – and the device is paired with the machine – a range of functions can be accessed. The 4.2-inch colour TFT display is able to receive messages, emails and notifications which can appear on the display – music can be can played and various other smartphone functions can be activated, making each ride a unique and more engaging experience. A wide range of other information and services can be accessed, including volume, weather, language, machine and riding information, and much more.
Garmin navigation system* After installing the Garmin StreetCross app on their smartphone and connecting to the XMAX 300 Tech MAX’s CCU, riders can utilise the Garmin navigation on the 4.2-inch colour TFT infotainment screen. This sophisticated system enables searches by location name and various other methods via the smartphone. Once the route is set the rider can zoom in and out using handlebar switches. Garmin StreetCross app provides real time traffic information as well as speed limits, destination air temperature, distance remaining and estimated time of arrival – as well as information about possible hazards such as upcoming sharp corners. * The navigation app will not be available in some countries. Information on speed limits, traffic, etc., is not provided in some countries and regions. Speed limit data may also not be updated in a timely manner and speed limits may change depending on the time of day, such as in school zones or around construction sites. Separate 3.2-inch LCD speedometer A 3.2-inch LCD speedometer is located above the new 4.2-inch TFT display and provides easy to read information that is detached from the infotainment screen for added clarity. Keeping the speedometer separate enables the rider to switch functions on the multi-theme TFT while still being able to always see speed and other important running data, regardless of which screen is selected on the new TFT meter.
Radical new X-shaped headlight and taillight The XMAX 300 Tech MAX features a radical-new face in the form of a distinctive X-shaped headlight/position light layout that is unique to this new model. The ultra-modern appearance perfectly matches the all-new bodywork, giving the 2023 machine an instantly recognisable and futuristic look that distinguishes itself from other models. The redesigned LED taillight incorporates brake lights that form an X shape when lit and features integrated rear flashers for a sleek and coordinated appearance – and the new high level front flashers are designed to be easily seen by other road users in congested traffic conditions. New seat with improved ground access For a more comfortable ride together with easier leg reach to the ground, the seat on the new XMAX 300 Tech MAX is redesigned. The shape of the taper at the front of the seat is revised, making this scooter even more enjoyable in stop/start traffic conditions. Riders can use the large underseat storage space for carrying everything from provisions to gym gear, and when parked it can accommodate two full-face helmets**. Slimmer and shorter, the newly shaped seat also contributes towards the tighter and more compact looks of the new model.
Leather-style seat and lid covers/New-style aluminium footplates To add to the luxurious feel of its interior, the XMAX 300 Tech MAX is fitted with an exclusive leather-style seat cover with gold accent stitching. The same high quality material is also used on storage compartment lid covers, giving a premium feel and coordinated look. The interior is also treated to a pair of aluminium footplates that add a touch of class, and together with the leather style seat cover they give the Tech MAX an exclusive character. New screen braces and aluminium mirror stems The new model retains the same adjustable windscreen, and for improved operation and greater comfort the screen braces that enable adjustment from low to high position are redesigned. And for slightly reduced weight and improved quality the mirror stems are manufactured from aluminium. Dedicated Tech MAX colouring For a premium look, certain plastic body parts on the XMAX 300 Tech MAX have been treated with a special semi-metallic gloss finish that enhances the overall style and complements the exclusive colours.

Yamaha announce Ténéré 700 World Raid
Yamaha announce Ténéré 700 World Raid: Fuel your life with a New Horizon. Forty years ago the original XT600 Ténéré made real adventure a possibility for everyone. Developed from Yamaha’s Dakar race bikes, the first Ténéré literally opened up a new world for any rider with the desire to get away from the ordinary, escape from their comfort zone and see new faraway places. Since the 1980s many thousands of riders have chosen the Ténéré as their long distance travel companion. During this time Yamaha’s original adventure bike has continuously evolved, and more recently the introduction of the Ténéré 700 has inspired a new generation of riders to chase the Next Horizon. In a very short period of time the Ténéré 700 has earned the respect of riders all over the globe who appreciate its high torque CP2 engine, versatile chassis and unrivalled durability and reliability. It is a worthy successor to the original bike that changed motorcycling forever, and in just a few years it has become the model of choice for a diverse group of riders who value the accessibility and freedom that it offers. It’s also shown its incredible versatility in the hands of legendary names such as multiple round the world rider Nick Sanders through to extreme enduro legend Pol Tarrés. Following the huge success of the Ténéré 700 and the Ténéré 700 Rally Edition, Yamaha are now ready to launch the ultimate long distance Yamaha adventure bike that is designed to offer a whole new world of possibilities to everyone who has the spirit of adventure within their soul.
New Ténéré 700 World Raid: Fuel your life with a New Horizon The Ténéré 700 was just the beginning. Now Yamaha is about to open up a new dimension in adventure riding with the latest Ténéré 700 World Raid – a premium long distance motorcycle that offers excellent on/off road ability combined with outstanding versatility and an enjoyable riding character. This third member of the Ténéré 700 family brings so much to the world of motorcycling by giving all kinds of riders the chance to live out their dreams. The world has changed dramatically in the last few years, and this motorcycle gives everyone the chance to rediscover the freedoms that were taken for granted. Equipped to go further than any previous Ténéré, and featuring the most advanced specification that includes state-of-the-art suspension for added confidence and comfort, improved ergonomics, rally-inspired styling and multi-mode instruments with incoming call and text message notifications, the Ténéré 700 World Raid is a motorcycle that can make the world seem a much smaller place.
Twenty-three-litre capacity dual side-mounted fuel tanks The Ténéré 700 World Raid is Yamaha’s most extreme long distance adventure bike with the ability to go further than ever before. Adventure riders are fearless characters who are always looking for the next challenge, but the one thing that’s always at the back of every long distance rider’s mind is the availability of fuel in a remote environment. The new 23-litre dual side-mounted fuel tanks are designed to bring peace of mind on the longest trip and eliminate the range anxiety that every rider has experienced when the reserve light starts to flash. In typical usage conditions these new tanks are estimated to be able to give a range of up to 500 km, giving a higher level of autonomy that makes the Ténéré 700 World Raid a master of the wilderness. The unique twin side-mounted design offers a number of significant advantages compared to simply making the tank higher and wider in order to increase its capacity. By having two separate tanks that are positioned lower, and locating the fuel pump in a lower position in one of the tanks, the bike’s centre of gravity can be kept almost the same as with the existing Ténéré 700 that has a 16-litre tank – helping to maintain agile handling despite the increased weight of a larger fuel load. The vehicle mass is further centralised, with an ideal weight distribution between front and rear. An important feature of this new layout is that the highest point on the new twin side-mounted tanks is lower than the top of the tank on the Ténéré 700, reducing the height difference between the tank and seat to give a much flatter profile for increased rider mobility and easier front/rear weight shifting when riding off road. Another benefit of this dual tank design is that the movement of the fuel is limited, compared to a one big tank layout and this gives benefit especially while cornering. And finally, the Ténéré 700 World Raid’s dual side-mounted fuel tanks are not only a reminder of the bike’s desert rally heritage, but are also clear evidence of the DNA this new adventure model shares with some of Yamaha’s most successful factory race bikes.
Flat seat for improved rider agility As well as the reduced height of the new dual tank design, the Ténéré 700 World Raid also benefits from a new 890 mm high seat that gives a much flatter profile for a smoother transition between the seat and tank. This design enables the rider to move backwards and forwards with minimal effort when shifting their body weight to maintain control on rough terrain, and the new ergonomics are suited to both sit down and stand up riding positions. The seat’s two-piece design allows for the easy removal of the rear section to enable the fitment of accessories such as a rack or luggage. The seat is made from two different kinds of leather, with a high grip zone in the centre and a smoother zone that enables freedom of movement while riding. Five-inch colour TFT meter with mobile connectivity The new 5” colour TFT meter is linked with the bike’s Communication Control unit (CCU) which talks to the MyRide app, giving connectivity in the form of text message and incoming call notifications that are displayed on the instrument panel – and mobile battery status is displayed as soon as a connection is established. This connectivity and the ability to identify any technical issues that need rectifying provide added peace of mind and reassurance to adventure riders, especially when they are taking part in long distance trips in unfamiliar territory. Access to the relevant information is crucial on every long distance expedition, and Ténéré 700 World Raid riders can choose from three different themes on the new 5” colour TFT meter. The ‘Explorer’ screen layout features a modern digital design that provides all of the machine’s key running data in a contemporary and easy to read style. The ‘Street’ screen features a tachometer with a circular dial and needle that give a more conventional look from the analogue era, and the ‘Raid’ screen is inspired by a typical rally racing roadbook and features two independent countdown tripmeters that enable the rider to see the distance to the next waypoint. Located to the right of the dashboard area there is a USB type A socket that can power navigation systems or charge mobile devices. Three-mode on/off road ABS For optimal controllability in varying riding conditions the new Ténéré 700 World Raid is equipped with three-mode ABS that can be selected when the bike is stationary, via a specific menu available in the meter, operated by the right handle switch. Mode 1 is fully on, with both wheels benefitting from ABS as required legally while riding on public roads. Mode 2 and 3 have been introduced for non-public roads riding. In detail, Mode 2 (new function developed for Ténéré 700 World Raid) is front wheel on, rear wheel off, and this is the recommended mode for terrain such as gravel tracks, where low levels of grip are likely to be experienced. Mode 3 is fully off, suitable for experienced riders who want to enjoy pure off road riding. The instrument panel shows when Mode 2 and Mode 3 are active, and the rider can return immediately to Mode 1 at any time when moving or standing still by pressing a button on the left side of the instrument panel.
High specification 43 mm KYB front forks, 230 mm travel For refined off road handling performance the suspension system on the Ténéré 700 World Raid features a number of significant upgrades. Newly designed 43 mm KYB front forks give 230 mm of wheel travel – 20 mm more than the Ténéré 700 – offering increased shock absorption potential on rough terrain. The new forks are equipped with a spring preload adjuster, in addition to the rebound and compression damping adjusters and air bleeding screw already featured on the Ténéré 700, enabling the rider to set the suspension to suit different terrain and loads. For increased durability with reduced internal friction, the longer travel 43 mm front forks feature a resilient Kashima coating applied on outer tube, with a distinctive dark bronze colour, while lightweight fork internal components are used in order to minimise weight, despite the longer stroke. Öhlins steering damper For better controllability – particularly in off road riding situations – an Öhlins steering damper is fitted as standard equipment. Mounting position is close to the top triple clamp, allowing the rider to quickly adjust the unit to his preferred levels of feel and feedback on a variety of terrain, thanks to 18 different damping settings. Full spec aluminium piggyback rear shock, 220 mm wheel travel The rear suspension has also been upgraded to match the new front forks, and features a revised linkage design with a piggyback type shock absorber with longer stroke. The rear suspension’s damping characteristics, spring rate and linkage ratios have all been optimised in order to give a comfortable ride on the road together with the ability to take some hard hits during off road exploration. For consistent damping performance the new shock features an aluminium body for good heat dissipation, while the separate piggyback type oil reservoir prevents cavitation – and like the forks, the new shock gives 20 mm more wheel travel, and is fully adjustable for spring preload, as well as compression and rebound damping. A new rubber bumper has been introduced as well to increase performance on energy absorption in case of bottoming.
High-torque EU5 CP2 engine Yamaha’s iconic 689 cc liquid-cooled in-line two-cylinder engine is the driving force behind the new Ténéré 700 World Raid. Featuring a 270° crankshaft that gives it a characteristic uneven firing sequence, this ‘crossplane concept’ CP2 engine is renowned for its strong linear torque output as well as its ultra-responsive and easily-controllable performance that makes it so enjoyable and rewarding to ride at all speeds. Compact dimensions and low weight make the CP2 unit ideal for the demands and requirements of adventure riding – and with a linear torque delivery providing plenty of low to mid-range pulling power, this rugged, reliable and economical engine is particularly suited to the varied on and off road terrain typically encountered by adventure riders. Already proven with the best-selling Ténéré 700, this engine is one of Yamaha’s most legendary powerplants, with more than 221,000 CP2-engined units sold since introduction. Ténéré 700 air cleaner box The Ténéré 700 family has a new air cleaner box, specifically designed to handle the extreme off road terrain that this long distance adventure bike is built for. The Ténéré airbox has been equipped with a forward-facing intake duct that is designed to prevent ingress of dust and debris thrown up by the rear wheel. Higher windscreen, easy-to-remove side deflectors, LED flashers and front cowling For additional wind protection on long distance adventures the bike is fitted with a 15 mm taller screen with easy-to-remove side deflectors, and LED flashers are original equipment. The front panels surrounding the radiator and the interior panel around cockpit area are manufactured from tough fibre glass composite material. These are designed to be able to handle rugged off road riding.
Larger footrests Yamaha’s designers have developed the Ténéré 700 World Raid to the highest specification without compromise. New larger footrests underline this close attention to detail. The larger surface area gives greater grip for the rider’s boots, and also reduces pressure on the soles when riding on extreme terrain. A larger surface area also prevents mud and sand build up, and the removable rubber inserts improve the boot/peg stability in wet conditions. By removing the rubbers inserts, the footpegs become rally-race oriented components, in terms of look and performance. New three-piece aluminium engine guard For increased protection when riding off road, the bike is fitted with a new three-piece aluminium engine guard that helps to prevent accidental damage caused by rocks, stones and any other debris. Thanks to new suspensions with longer stroke, ground clearance is 250 mm. New radiator grille To ensure that the radiator maintains its high levels of cooling efficiency during off road riding, a new radiator grille is fitted. Featuring vertical louvres like Yamaha’s off road competition models, this new grille is designed to protect the radiator from debris thrown up by the front wheel.
