[INFO] Departure from JS Entertainment & Lineup Change!
Long-time no see, guys! ^^ I apologize for my hiatus running a little longer than I originally intended, but like LAYSHA I’m back and ready to just headfirst into updating!
Firstly, LAYSHA has officially parted ways with JS Entertainment amid their group hiatus and the long struggle with the spycam incident of 2018. They signed with A1 Entertainment in March of 2019, during Som’s initial personal hiatus. Secondly, upon departing from JS, the girls deactivated their old youtube channel and created a new one.
And lastly, of course, we were all saddened by the news of Hyeri and Som leaving LAYSHA, but I would like to alleviate a lot of the confusion surrounding Som’s departure specifically.
Som originally went on hiatus from the group in January of 2019 due to undisclosed health concerns. There’s a largely believed rumor that her original hiatus was just a front for wanting out of the group and that she was never sick at all, but while on hiatus Som kept in touch via her personal Instagram and shared several IG Stories and selfies from hospitals, giving vague updates on her health among missing the fans, the stage, and her members. During her absence, the remaining members focused on dance covers and solo modeling while their friends/labelmates Hadam & Hayoung filed in for Som during festival performances. In the comment sections of posts featuring Hadam or Hayoung (now a member of MAYQUEEN), the girls expressed multiple times that Som’s hiatus would be ending sometime in mid-March. On April 2nd of 2019 Som updated with a selfie on their official Instagram and was also present in the April 9th greeting video, the first time she had been seen in any official announcement since December of 2018.
Still, Hayoung continued to fill in for Som during performances throughout April and May with no determined return date for Som as a member. On June 6th - 10th, LAYSHA posted multiple photos and videos in a promotion with The Ocean Waterpark and hastily announced that Som was still sick, and that Hyeri, instead, had officially left the group in a single caption. Within the videos and pictures shared there was also a new, but familiar face among LAYSHA fans, former GIRL CRUSH member and friend Seihee, now performing under the stage name Sia. Cutely enough, Goeun responded to a couple of commenters saddened by 2Yang’s departure agreeing that she was also sad, but people were understandably disappointed with the execution and Hyeri made an official statement on her personal IG apologizing for the sudden announcement. She did not name any specifics besides wanting to move into another chapter in her career. There are rumors of clashing among the girls being the reason for their departures, but they are just that — rumors (seriously, the only evidence ever given is some un/re-following on IG some time ago. Continuing to spread vicious rumors on netizen hearsay is not something I endorse or recommend).
After making a more formal post announcing Hyeri’s departure and officially Som’s as well, LAYSHA announced that they’d be welcoming a new member to be revealed soon (as Hayoung was set to debut with MAYQUEEN in August). They debuted their current lineup with new member Boreum on August 10th.
And that’s it! Hope this clears up any remaining confusion around the lineup change. I’m glad to be back and updating you all on the huge bounty of new content LAYSHA has been providing for us! Please continue to support Hyeri, Som, and LAYSHA in all their activities!
