My Gokusen Journey
The beginning, rushing home after school just to watch the show: Live action of Gokusen Season 1
The continuation, a combination of rushing home to watch the show and catching up on unwatched episodes after a long time: Gokusen Live Action Season 2
After a long time, discovering there is Season 3. Thank you Internet. Thank you.
The discovery of Johnny's Idol: Learning about the cast because I have a smart phone by that time. Thank you Google. Arashi, Kat-tun and hey say Jump.
The unknown world of the Idol groups, opening the door to a new beginning: Upon discovering that the male leads are from Idol groups, I venture to listen to their songs and finally I fell in love with Takaki Yuya's voice.
The unexpected, loving Hey Say Jump: The intention was to find other songs by Takaki Yuya. However, the group he belongs to (at the time of discovery) was a 9 member Idol group. So listening to their songs means listening to all their voices. I listened and continued to listen.
Going out of my comfort zone: While I fell in love with the group and their music, I also discovered their show called Itadaki High Jump. All of these helped me keep going in my life during that time, a tough time. Hey Say Jump became one of my sources of happiness.
The last string to pull, Gokusen the Movie: I believe it was a great way to close the live action series. I love the movie. Loved the reunion.
The end of the journey: It ended. I watched it all. I'm happy and satisfied but somehow I didn't want it to end. I thought that was it until I found out there is an anime. Watched it of course. Love the anime. I am so happy.
Unsatisfied: If there is a live action, there is a manga, let's find out if there is a manga. Found it, read it, loved it. Super satisfied. Super. Super great.
I love all the versions of Gokusen. A live action, manga and anime. I saw the difference and similarities of the story and the characters. I usually hate live actions, maybe because I watched it first or maybe because it was a well produced drama. Yankumi from the manga is different from both the live action and anime. I am Happy to have known that Yankumi. Not gonna lie, it was my favorite.
Final message: To those who have also watched the live action but are yet to watch the anime, give it a try. But most importantly, please give the manga a try as well, because it will provide a sense of completeness in the story.
If you read it until here, I know you also love the series. Thank you.
so I just fell into a hole, I finished the first season of gokusen + special episode and can I just say that I am not okayyyy
rewatching the entire gokusen franchise (live action) and i just realized they always be RUNNING. Like were taxis, a train, and bikes not a thing??? lmfao i get the dramatics of it all but, girly, running couldn't have been as efficient as a bike. Maybe Yankumi would've arrived to a fight before it started...
Still one of my fave comfort shows tho <333
