Puzzle boy idea - the two of them gaming together and having a stress free fun time. Could be any game, DM, Uno, Candy Land, fuckin' DDR, anything. Just them being able to have fun together doing what they love
Holy mamma mia do I have a lot of respect for people who play and grind out candles/hearts in "Sky: Children of the light".
For a while I dabbled and played it daily, doing quests and searching for stuff.
And my goodness was it grindy. My daily candle route was relatively decent from my understanding, getting 5-8 candles a day.
It would take me about 3 weeks of playing for an hour daily to get a small emote.
And then there are these people who have multiple wardrobes of customization for their sky-kids. They absolutely astonish me!
Love the game but it is just way to grindy for me
(Especially me who likes to play games with other people while also being bad at... Other people-ing.)
survivor 47 favorites pecking order goes like this, as of 3:30 in the morning after tonight’s episode:
Genevieve & Rachel (icons!!!! I was crossing my fingers praying that gen was not going home tonight and my lord I love that. I LOVE how in the season that began with 5 men dominating the narrative of the pre merge, the two top contenders and main strategists are women. sorry, Andy, but it’s true)
teeny (bumped down after this episode but still high) & Caroline (I need more content but I am fully willing to stan)
sue (I think she’s funny 😭 and people take her too seriously and also hate older women. dear lord. take a walk and meet older people in the wild. sometimes they’re just Like That)
(big break)
Sam (I go though bouts of tolerance, but I never particularly liked him since his spat with Anika)
Andy (I find him either funny or annoying, and unfortunately for him it’s more often annoying. I would like him much more if he wasn’t playing up the ‘secret mastermind’ side)
——
also, can we talk about the bold as fuck move of *caroline* to publicly back Genevieve at tribal? like, that bought her a Ton of respect from here im sure, and for better or for worse it’s bringing her out of her UTR persona she was in before. sooooo interesting to see how that works out, since that places obvious Andy eyesight on her and potential jury placement shenanigans. also I love her little mechanical facial expressions they’re everything to me <3
For the ask game: curious about Mirage and Yami no Buckshot
OH god Mirage.
Mirage is the AU I sloppily lore-dumped on you a while back in DMs but for the UNINITIATED:
The premise is that Yuugi doesn't get the Puzzle till he's 15, and doesn't solve it till he's 23ish. Instead of wishing for friends, Yuugi's undercurrent want is to 'never be lonely'
It's a series re-write canon divergence that blends a lot of the rules in s0 with the cast and setting of DM.
Changes include: Yuugi's only friends are basically Anzu and Joey, and Joey and him didn't really hit it off till graduation.
Anzu leaves Japan only to return under mysterious circumstances in her career
Honda and Miho are more distant acquaintances and both are highly suspicious of the Cursed Amulet
Kaiba owns the eye and it's haunted by Kisara and both are very interested in collecting the rest of the items for... reasons
Otogi owns the Key and is very cavalier with it's power (three guesses as to who got that for him and why)
Marik has the rod and Malik is less an alter and more a VERY FUCKING ANGRY ghost who was the first tombkeeper
Ishizu is here, she's got the necklace and is haunted by Isis who very much wants to correct some mistakes of the past
Ryou has the ring, which has TKB, unzorked, but also VERY interested in maybe doing a strangle to Yami when they're within reaching distance.
All the items have very specific rules to them and Shadow-games are a little more complicated when the soul has both a host and resident, ie, the host takes damage that the resident gets during combat, the opposite to the real world
Yuugi's life is a wreck and his whole world is tilted upside down with the introduction of Yami, and the complications both moral and physical about having a huge crush on your skull-mate, plus there's something about the Reckoning of Human Kind Kisara keeps muttering about.
The biggest crux is that there's basically a 4 way power struggle between Yuugi, Seto, Ishizu and Bakura concerning the Millennium Items and that goes about as well as you'd imagine :D
Your tags on that ygo manga 🧩 post about wishshipping post-ceremonial duel are so spicy and intriguing!!!
I honestly never even tried to consider that ship before because I never thought of or heard of it being pitched that way, and I don't usually enjoy angst or hurt/comfort, but now... 👀 Mayhaps...
(cracks my knucks)
WHOO BOY HERE I GO YAPPIN AGAIN
General thoughts on Wish/FeatherShipping and post CD relationship breakdown for Yuugi and Jou ahead uh
its a COWABUMMER DUDES!
(Also this contains a lot of opinions on like- the nature of wish/feathershipping and I just want EVERYONE to know that they are not meant as disparaging or like snide or wrong or anything like that. It's as deep as "I just don't like that flavor" and NOTHING more ok PSA over)
Faru I am reaching so tenderly across this ask box to say that I am also not a big whump/hurt no comfort/angst fan. I'm fine window-shopping if you will, but never really buying.
So this is gonna come across weird when I say that I dont' gel with wish/feathershipping when it comes to per-ceremonial duel because I just personally feel like there isn't a lot that doesn't position the characters in a way to purposefully obfuscate their rather open relationship as a means to further the tension between them.
I 100% agree with reads on Jou's internal homophobia, and I agree that Yuugi is way too shy to actually outright admit any feelings he has because it might destroy what fragile relationship they've built.
But I just think past Death-T it's clear Jou and Yuugi are ride or die. And I think if one of them started to get fidgety around the other the former would call it out and drag it to it's surface. I think they're earnest and open enough to say how they felt even if they were kinda messy and awkward around it in their own dumb ways, anything else just reads as sort of back-slidy to me. Like I think if Jou can in 2.0 seconds go "Oh ok so there's another you living in your head and he comes out to punish the wicked? Aight cool I am on board 100%" I just assume if Yuugi went "I would like to kiss you" feels like a softball afterwards. So I just kinda shrug and move on :D
And
Ok
This is probably the big hypocrite moment
But I just think post D:T/pre CD is just perfect I guess? This sounds so dumb out-loud but I just think that they'd be kinda perfect for each other, all of them! Yuugi would have even MORE confidence from Jou and Yami to be more open about his feelings and wants! Jou would have all the encouragement in the world to go for his most ambitious goals and he'd have two people helping him hone in on that, and Yami would be treated as so natural as breathing that I honestly can't imagine him feeling out or place or time between them.
I just don't got much to add! There's no weird crack in the armor I gotta pry open like an aardvark to an ant hill!
No notes and thus
No interest!
Ok so why if I don't like angst, and WHY if I do like fluff, would I want to talk about anything close to YuJo post Ceremonial Duel, and it's because I think it starts in a bad place but really builds them up over time- they both are coming from a place of incongruence and need to build up that communication from a new angle. They both have to navigate the other from this new position.
Jou and Yuugi are still ride or die but there is something BIG between them and it's never really going away.
So..... About Yuugi and Yami as a relationship...
People can use the word codependency, and... Listen I just.
I'm gonna put that word on the high shelf for now, not because I think people are using it incorrectly but because I think applying medical terminology to fictional work is fine and whatever but I just think it more often than not limits and reduces the conversation down a little tooooooo far and further more the relationship Yuugi and Yami have is supernatural. Applying codependency feels like it's ignoring the whole... ghost and magic and impossibility of their relationship. There's a hundred ways to interpret their entanglement too!
Some people think the ghost thing is diegetic and others non, some think the physical difference between Yuugi and Yami are diegetic or non, it's been up for debate if Yuugi and Yami even DIRECTLY talk to each other- and the manga gives no fucking indication on who's right! But we can say at the end of the day Yami lives in Yuugi. Even if he was a ghost and only lived in Yuugi's Puzzle and they were as SEPARATE as you could make them within the canon framework- they aren't two people who have their own lives and wants outside of the other. It's literally impossible to recreate their relationship and so I just- don't find it helpful to apply that word heeeere.
HOWEVER!
The framework set is that Yuugi and Yami have something so interwoven and so fused together that when you take Yami away something shredded and half is left unmoored and untethered.
Yuugi has spent the better part of his life thus far shaping himself perfectly around Yami and Yami around Yuugi, when that's gone? How do you recover from being able to always share a funny moment with someone, how do you live with the lack of noise. How do you recreate it?
And the fact of the matter is you can't.
No matter what anyone ever tries to do, Yami was a supernatural being. He's magic, or interdenominational or whatever but he's not repeatable. It doesn't matter HOW much you love someone else it'll never be like that again.
THIS is the space I think Wishshipping really shines. Because it's about recovery and acceptance at the END of it all.
Yuugi learning to find comfort in a normal relationship, of
Yuugi leaning to come down from that high of it all, not even because anyone fucked it up but because Yami/Atem is dead. He's gone. He's as empty as the golden box that Yuugi stares at and runs his fingers over before going to bed, as if some trace of him might still jump into the hole in his chest.
And it's Jou also accepting that it IS impossible to recreate what Yami and Yuugi had, and that doesn't make him any less, or any worse. It's normal, it's human. It's good to feel touch and not know what's going on in my head all the time, it's ok to wonder about me and learn those crooks and ticks and it's good to have your own life.
I love the idea of Jou being furious at Yami because like... what a horrible prototype for what you think a relationship should be. Literally impossible. Standard set so high that it's impossible to reach, and you left Yuugi up there on that fucking pedestal and I had to climb my ass only half-ways and tell him to jump down.
Selfish. BUt you know.... he also misses him. He lost Yami too, he lost his rival and his buddy and best friend. He knows the pain in his chest is infinitesimal in comparison to Yuugi but it's still there... It still hurts. He does GET it.
And I want Yuugi to be angry too! Why didn't Yami stay! They promised and wasn't he good enough? He never said yes. He never said yes to our deal. why didn't I see it? Yuugi thinks he broken or wrong now he feels wrong now, and lighter like he'll finally float away and end up on the Nile maybe... if he just lets himself...
He should be defensive too! It's not like Yami could stay, and even if he did wouldn't that be just as bad. Everyone's telling him how terrible his first foray into any kind of a love life is and now what? Is he just destined to be hollow forever. A big black hole that will take and take and take?
But over time you know, with a lot of work, and BOY is it, Jou is able to get Yuugi down. To offer enough patience and care that he saw Yuugi give him. To comfort and let him know it's ok. he knows. He knows that it'll never be what it was, but that's ok. He knows he can't have all of Yuugi's heart because it's just not there anymore and that's fine! He loves every part he can get. He's not broken he's just different. If you could see the good in me when you stood down that brute, then I can see all the love you're still overflowing with.
And Yuugi settles in. He gets used to the normalcy of it all. Of not feeling Jou there, or well, he can. He just has to listen harder than he had with Yami. But he can hear him in the kitchen cooking them breakfast and burning the bacon because he has the burner too high. He can feel the fading warmth on the mattress and under the blankets where Jou once was. It's not the same, but it's just as powerful, it's just as overwhelming some days, and it never fills that void, but he doesn't think about that as much these days.
THAT'S the anthill man. THAT'S where the grubs is.
Two boys who can and will talk with each other, but who are so busted up after the journey that they gotta work on how to deal with these gaping holes because aint nothin ever gonna fill them so we might as well learn to love them.
What pokemon do you think yami and yugi would have? And which legendaries do you think fit them (I'm inclined to say jirachi for yugi and Darkrai for yami but I'm very biased towards jirachi/it kinda has yugis weird spikes)
OH MAN OH MAN I ADORE POKEMON SO MUCH!
Ok ok ok! We're gonna break this down a bit
Yuugi and Yami as a 6-team split into two (three each) because I think that's cute and also keeps this from being an entire essay
Yuugi: Umbreon, Farigiraf, Morpeko!
- Umbreon kinda self explanatory. Yuugi's motiefs seem to rotate more around the night, the moon and stars.
- Farigiraf also seems a little obvious just with the themes alone of being swallowed whole by this force, but also growing stronger for it. Working more in tandem and less in oposition now!
- Morpeko again because it's the idea of this sweet and timid creature getting pushed into something more hostile and angry, and then also reeling that back in! I just also love the idea of Yuugi trying to constantly keep it in check!
Yami: Espeon, Zoroark, Lycanroc (Dusk)!
- Espeon, again sun brightness, the answer to Umbreon's night. Atem is the sun you get the deal :3
- Zoroark because it's incredibly protective of it's 'pack' and if someone seems to want to cause them or their friends harm they'll show projections to keep them safe. Also Zoroak copies it's form to a pokemon on your team, which mirrors the way Yami copies the way Yuugi looks!
- Lycanroc Dusk, which feels like it SHOULD be night, and I might have swung that way if we were talking ONLY s0 Yami, but if we have to look at his overall character Dusk really feels like the best one. It's poised and observant at the start of a fight but is relentless without being reckless towards the end.
If you had to make me pick one each:
Yuugi - Farigirag
Yami - Zoroark
And as far as legendaries go!
Yami, spot on, no notes Darkrai is perfect
Yuugi, I think Jirachi is a REALLY good pick, I was torn between it, Shaymin and Victini, but I think I gotta go with Victini in the end!
I think the fact that it brings victory wherever it goes, and generates that within himself to help his friends is so indicative of the overall role Yuugi plays in the series <3
Smth about the way you drew Yugi’s mouth in your Cuddle/Cuttle piece delights me endlessly. Like- that’s just. That’s just how his teeth look in my mind now. Beautiful perfect 100% correct.
Uhhhh yeah that’s all :) hope you’re having a nice day :))
H E CK
Im glad it looks goooood! I was so worried doing so many isolated body parts but I wanted so much for the sort of hyper-focused gaze of Yami to really pull through on showing exactly how much he wasn't listening but also that sort of intimacy and reverence where you find like... isolated parts of someone's face and body charming? Or you notice little flaws and find them so much more interesting now that you've seen them
Also I love drawing small details so im haPPY IT PAID OFF OK THANKS IM GONNA JUST LAY ON THE GROUND GRINNING ABOUT THIS
Will you tell us more about "Grocery Shopping?" :3
GOD
This is part of the Big Lewd List that was a string of vignettes of two months where Yami and Yuugi were in a MOOD
(I haven't posted them yet because I am.... Very dyslexic and I worry they'll be borderline unreadable but I really gotta just get over it and share them anyways lmao)
Spicy Sauce under the cut:
Earlier in the collection of prompts Yami sprung a chastity cage on Yuugi as a 'surprise' (Yami was wearing it first and switches places)
so in retaliation Yuugi says he's going grocery shopping only to mid-way through switch with Yami, who realizes VERY quickly that he's in a rope corset!
Yami is WAY less of a sport about it than Yuugi was with the cage and Yuugi teases him a lot about it :3
