Made tea from the Yaupon Holly branches we harvested to decorate for solstice. Yaupon Holly is the only plant native to North America that produces caffeine. Its taste is similar to green tea, while the caffeine content is like that of black tea.
Firenze Fire and Yaupon battled furiously down the stretch of the G1 Forego. When Yaupon took the lead, Firenze Fire got so mad he attacked poor Yaupon. Yaupon never lost focus as he got the win.
This race definitely gave me flashbacks to when Whereshetoldmetogo bit Firenze Fire in the stretch of the G3 Gallant Bob back in 2018.
Firenze Fire was 100% DONE with Yaupon!
like green tea only not tea
Lost Pines Yaupon Tea is harvested from wild growing yaupon, the only naturally caffeinated plant native to the U.S. Healthy and delicious i
Just ordered some tea made of Yaupon, a plant native to the southern US. BBC Travel has an article about it ("Yaupon: the rebirth of America's forgotten tea") that is pretty fascinating. Not inexpensive for sure, but I like the idea of it being (relatively) local and sustainable.
Today is National Iced Tea Day, but the weather lately has been nothing but grey skies and rain. So here’s a little #tbt to last year’s iced Yaupon with orange slice. Yaupon is a type of holly that is native to North America and one of the only caffeinated plants we have. Have you tried it iced? 🧊 🍵 #nationalicedteaday #icetea #icedtea #yaupon #yaupontea #teatime #summertime #teatimemagfeed #harneyandsons https://www.instagram.com/p/CBQRoJogCvE/?igshid=1rsrhm7iqdlmm
