When Pleasing runs an ad using Yawncaster, it is not “petty Harry showing how much he hates Louis and Zara.” When Harry follows someone who writes about Stuntboy, it’s not Harry banging against his closet. These are calculated marketing moves to drive engagement. Harries see Yawncaster (clearly a Doncaster reference) as Harry punching down at Louis - they love it; larries see it as Harry hating the new Love Island (Dull Island) relationship - Harry’s petty and irritated; Louies get angry on Louis’ behalf. It drives clicks, online arguments, purchases… it drives engagement. A Stuntboy follow leads to larries and harries who think Harry is queer to gleefully claim his relationships they don’t like, like Holivia, aren’t real. These follows and advertising are not real emotion or secret messages, this is not Harry fighting to be heard. This is PR 101 devised in a boardroom to engage fans and get them talking, posting, buying, arguing about Harry Styles. It works every time. Yawn (caster).
The Pleasing Instagram post referencing Doncaster, courtesy of Harry Styles and Harry Lambert.
Harry “making a point” by referring to Louis’ hometown (a point of pride for Louis, but not beyond commercialism for Harry Styles) and Love Island (Zara McDermott, Isle of Dull), in order to drive traffic to Pleasing.
Here’s that Larrie post lauding Harry’s passive aggressive pettiness.
97 Larrie notes “putting Louis back in his place.”
I am guessing that the same Larries wrote reams of essays bemoaning how Harry was “victimized by Olivia Wilde,” even though the end goal of Harry’s romance was much more obviously career-driven than Louis’ relationship.
Harry Styles’ larrybaiting (and Louis shade) is shockingly crude, and yet it works on those desperate to cling to their cult’s belief system, choosing to disbelieve their own eyes and logic to rely on a few cult leaders for their mental drug.
These are almost always people who believe themselves “enlightened,” “progressive,” “having secret knowledge,” yet incredibly naive— maybe intentionally so?— on how a “closeted man” who can publicly say nothing about his relationships nevertheless is always able to give such crudely obvious hints about Louis Tomlinson, from the Adore You publicity campaign, to Euphoria, to Pleasing’s smiley face nail appliqué and bluegreen nail polish, to bluegreen TPWK socks, to Harry’s singing IICF and not singing Louis’ (and only Louis’) verses.
How does Harry get away with it, one wonders!
How did the rainbow bears get away with it, right in front of Sony’s noses, one wonders!
Maybe the answer is that the relationship between Harry and Louis can’t be ruined by any passive-aggressive marketing because there isn’t any relationship there. “Larry” only exists in the baiting of fans.
It’s a weird dynamic with fans, because Harry baits frequently and shamelessly while Louis does it less.
Larries almost uniformly punish Louis and reward Harry for one main reason.
Louis denies the relationship. Harry stays silent and leads them on, because Larrie money is still money.
Let’s ask Louis about Yawncaster.
