Eren sat, for the first time that she could recall since they’d rescued him, by himself. She didn’t know much about him--in fact she didn’t know anything about him at all--but it seemed obvious to her that he was tired, and not in the usual way.
He needed a break, but he wasn’t going to get one anytime soon--and it wasn’t just the titan-shifting thing, either: he’d helped blow a government conspiracy wide open. A fake monarchy, bloodlines... It was all way beyond Hitch’s understanding; as far as she was concerned, none of it was any of her business and the less she knew the better.
Right?
But she couldn’t help but be curious to see him alone, to see him looking downcast. More people cared about him right now than she could even fully grasp, and she doubted their caring was fueled by his ability to shift into a titan or whatever the hell that was about.
She came to stand awkwardly just a few feet away, curiosity compelling her to see what kinda guy would make so many people believe in him.
“Hey.”
