Big Business Vs. Small time scammers
Now this post is coming very late but I recently saw something that pissed me off enough to mention it. A friend of mine, @Jordans_Dad is an artist that hand paints and customizes canvases and apparel. He recently posted a picture of some customized boots and as usual a trolling follower commented, 'Duplicating Lano's Roses I see." Now this follower is either a friend of Lano, or hasn't tried ordering anything from that shady a** scammer of an artist. I personally prefer to support smaller brands and clothing lines instead of mainstream retailers for several reasons. 1. Who wouldn't want to support a cause that they believe in, 2. You're more likely to have unique pieces that you are less likely to see someone else wearing. With that being said, initially I was scared to buy items from smaller brands out of fear that the product would not be up to par or maybe they would take my money and I would never get the product, however I took that risk. I first came across this artist Delano Brown on Instagram, he does custom artwork on clothing, as well, mostly roses. I thought his pieces were dope, a little pricey, but eff it, I liked it so I purchased two hoodies. Would you believe, I NEVER GOT MY ORDER!! I was professional about the situation, I emailed Delano Brown, his so called manager Jorde Berlin and guess what no response, no nothing. No refund, yet Delano is posting pictures of him painting the hood of a Rolls Royce, and suddenly he's a rapper (side-eye). But he clearly built an audience and a following only to scam them out of their money and inevitably create a fear in supporting smaller businesses. So to the people that want to defend scammers, shut the hell up unless you're buying product. To all the consumers out there that want to support smaller brands, do your research before you click 'checkout', you never know who is legit about their brand or just trying to make a quick buck!
