tbh it cracks me up that I can recognize when something was filmed in NYC not because I recognize the city -- I very much don't unless they include one of its really recognizable buildings -- but because there are inevitably cars in the streets and I recognize NYS license plates without even noticing because I see them all the damn time lmao

and in case it wasn't obvious from the part where I say I'm from NY and people always go NYC?, NYC is the largest city in the state by FAR, and the next largest, Buffalo, very much does not look like NYC

nowhere else in this state do you get so many high rises so densely packed lol. like, sure, we have high rises all over the state, but there is no other place that looks like Manhattan lol. not in NY.

so yeah. I recognize stuff filmed in NYC off the cars. 😂
