100. Odds and Ends
There's certain producers who, while i acknowledge their legend status within the Vocaloid space, I always kind of dread reviewing because their songs are so hit or miss for me. ryo is definitely one of them. His songs are so legendary that even in the early days when I was Vocaloid adjacent more than an active fan, I'd definitelly heard World Is Mine, and Black Rock Shooter was even made into an anime. (We'll be getting to that one later...) And Melt, while a song I...don't like, was honestly probably the song that made Miku what she is, in terms of how inflluential it was.
But this song blows everything else I've heard by ryo out of the water for me.
This is a love letter to Hatsune Miku, delivered as a message from Miku to the people who found their voice through her, undoubtedly not just including but first and foremost ryo himself. It's beautiful. I genuinely teared up while listening to it.
It's such a lovely song that I feel a teensy bit guilty to be giving it a 9.5 out of 10 instead of a 10, but stylistically it's not 100% my thing and the tuning is just a little bit rough to my ear. But please understand that slight criticisms aside, I wholeheartedly love and endorse this song, and I was legitimately excited to get to this review. It's not a perfect song, but it's a generational one.
