A few days ago, I sat and talked with an older non-black woman that I've known for about two years now. She's always treated me so well and has shown me so much genuine love. When she was getting ready to leave, she looked at me - with so much compassion in her eyes - and simply said "I love you." When I think about "black love" now, I don't solely think of it as an intimate title we give to two African-American lovers. I think of it as the love that is given from anyone to people of color, from us to our friends, and from us to our families. "Black love" is so much deeper than what we've noted it to be. "Black love" is everything that we wish life was for us, but isn't. "Black love" is noticing that there are good people out here who want to see us do better, have better, and be treated better that may not necessarily be of our skin color. "Black love" is knowing that in order to have change, we have to notice that yes we are fighting, but the fight is not always meant to be done alone. "Black love" is about self-love, selfless love, and unconditional love. No one has to agree with me, but please know that when I speak of "Black love," it won't always be about two African-Americans falling in love with one another; it will be about us falling in love with ourselves first and being open to letting other people love us too - even if their skin produces a little less melanin than ours. #BlackLove #ExposeYourQueen #VisiblyBlack #YearOfTheGreat #MelaninMagic #BlackGirlMagic #LoveYourself

Today, I got the opportunity to witness God's work in two of his children, firsthand. Since meeting @iamjoshbias and @theangelicalife, I'm blessed to say that I've seen what God can do if you have patience and follow His guidance when seeking your other half. Seeing the way Josh looked at Angelica when she walked through that door is what I pray for not only myself when my time of union comes, but to every woman that's anticipating meeting the man of her dreams. A leader, encourager, motivator, and more, I have no doubt in my mind that @iamjoshbias will be a great husband to my loving friend, @theangelicalife. As supportive, caring, talented, submissive, and faith-filled as she is, I know she'll not only match his greatness, but exceed even her own thoughts of what she can be as a wife. To a life filled with love, prosperity, blessings, and all that you can even imagine, I wish you nothing but the best my friends. Congratulations on your Union and continue to show the world how good God can be!!! #BecomingBias #YearOfTheGreat #Grow2016 #JoshAndAngelicaSayIDo (at Cumberland Community Church)

"One thing I can say with confidence though, is unlike many of our people in the US, not one person begged for one thing. The Philippines has a wide span of Catholic and Christian principles (or maybe that's what I gathered in the area I visited), so the things they were asking for the most were prayer for their family members. Not even for themselves or their living/financial situations, but for their loved ones. It honestly made me think back to the times I’ve asked people to pray for financial stability over my life and I realized that maybe I should’ve been a little more selfless or less materialistic when I went to God with my requests." "Today, I woke up and honestly had no complaint in the world. I got to sleep in, ate a decent breakfast, and afterwards, worked on some writing work from home. Around 1:45pm though, that's when the frustration set in. Now, I'm not sure what really triggered it, but all I know is I was ready to quit life, writing, and everything that came along with the aforementioned within 15 minutes of getting the feeling of frustration. While I was busy researching articles for a timely piece, I started asking myself 'why are you not further in life than where you are currently? Is this what you want to do forever because if so, you need to get on the ball with moving up. You literally aren't doing enough. This is what you call success?'...'
