during that week I will have one exam on Monday and I have to learn for one that will take place after the hunt. Other than that I will be free to hunt

I’m joining for fun

I’m able to knit a scarf in a day, crochet, basic programming, boxes upon boxes of craft stuff, and I own a guitar an a piano (not super awesome on either one but i could work something out if needed) 

6.In a team, which do you prefer: 1) stability and leadership through an elected team captain 2) A team, likely with a team captain, in which all group members are engaged in the decision making process 3) Or, a team in which each member is equally responsible for every aspect of the hunt. No, I’m a rather quiet person who joins discussions if I think my advice would be helpful.

Only if I think the person in charge would have had the abilities to do much better. But even in that case I’m very forgiving.

Yes, but I am quite forgiving. I am fully dedicated to quality.

MYSTERY INC ARE RECRUITING!

What is your (first) name and how old are you? (If you’re a part of a small team, briefly state how many of you there are and your ages) My name is Jenna and I’m 23 years old from Wales in the UK. I am currently in a team with my best friend, Bea who is also 23 from Wales.

How many years have you/your teammates participated in GISHWHES?  This is our first year, but we are both super excited and cannot wait to get started!

What level of priority do you/your team assign GISHWHES? Examples include: Work and School come first; I take off of work to participate; I do what I can in my free time, but I dedicate my entire free time to the scavenger hunt. My work gets out next week for the summer so GISHWHES will have my 100% full attention and I will be able to participate during all of my free time! Bea is actually quitting her job next week also and will be free until Sept when school starts so she will also be able to dedicate a large amount of time to the hunt.

What is your intended outcome of GISHWHES? Examples include: To bring awareness to a cause, to have a good experience, to win. Honestly we want to have fun and meet lots of new people from all around the world… but of course we want to win. We’re in it to win it, to paraphrase the lottery. 

Do you/your team have any specific skills/trades that might be especially useful to the hunt (please provide no more then five)? Examples include: Artist, Singer, Musician, Writer, Actor/Actress, access to exotic animals, Robert Downey Jr is my uncle. Bea is a classically trained singer from a very well known prestigious music and drama collage. She also has a degree in creative writing, write’s original novels/TV show scripts/fan fictions and is a keen blogger. I am a qualified teacher - so I actually have lots of random objects around my house including a plastic dinosaur excavating kid. I am also good with computers and most IT equipment. 

In a team, which do you prefer: 1) stability and leadership through an elected team captain 2) A team, likely with a team captain, in which all group members are engaged in the decision making process 3) Or, a team in which each member is equally responsible for every aspect of the hunt. No leader, laissez faire. I think a definite mix of 2/3. As a teacher, I kind of am a natural born leader… I like to have organisation. So of course I think there should be one who keeps a record of everything and ensures everyone is good with what they are doing or if they need help - a leader you could say. But i definitely believe that everyone should be involved in decision making and have their views and idea’s listened too. I’m happy to go with the flow with whatever the team wants - as long as there is solid communication so everyone knows who is doing what and knows where they stand/their items. 

Do you view familiarity with teammates a necessary aspect to a successful hunt? Yes, definitely. We’re going to need to be in communication to ensure that our team runs smoothly and everyone knows what they have to do. It helps if everyone in the team speaks English fluently too - keeps everything smooth sailing. 

Do you regularly take control of projects in which you are assigned a team (are you a natural leader)? As I mentioned above, I’m a teacher so I am most definitely a leader… but it also means I am able to step back and allow others to take over. 

Are you easily disappointed and/or angered by imperfections?  My own, yes. Others, not at all.  Though when people don’t try their best, then I get annoyed, angry and disappointed. 

Which mode of contact do you prefer if/when a team/member specifically suits your needs or is interested in meeting you? Facebook/Skype are probably the easiest and most reliable. But e-mail could possibly work.

Team Delightful Deviants looking for 13 more oddballs! :D

What is your (first) name and how old are you? My name is JacQui and I’m 20.

How many years have you/your teammates participated in GIsHWheS? As we only discovered it this year it’s our first time but it’s something that we can see ourselves doing for many years to come.

What level of priority do you/your team assign GIsHWheS? I have taken the entire week off of work for the hunt and the only time that won’t be dedicated to the hunt is five hours on the second day when I’ll be participating in an art class. My other team mate is working but is free at all other times and I can walk two minutes to our workplace if she’s desperately needed for an item (our bosses are pretty cruisy and know all about the hunt).

What is your intended outcome of GISHWHES? Partying with Mr. Collins is of course something that we’re striving towards as we are a competitive team, but we really just want to create abnosome art, make new friends, be our crazy selves and have fun doing it. If we can make it into the coffee table book that would be wonderful! We’d also like to bring a little joy to any people that we may run into when we’re doing something considered out of the ordinary.

Do you/your team have any specific skills/trades that might be especially useful to the hunt? Our team currently has, among other things, a traditional artist, access to an abundant amount of critters (dogs, cats, pythons), a stormtrooper costume, a tattoo appointment booked (just in case) and a willingness to try anything.

Do you view familiarity with teammates a necessary aspect to a successful hunt? We think it will definitely help, that’s why we’re trying to recruit at least some of our team before registration closes so we can start getting to know each other and suss out a partial strategy for the hunt.

Do you regularly take control of projects in which you are assigned a team (are you a natural leader)? I am a natural leader but work well when everyone is brainstorming as a group. I’m just used to having to do the majority of work during assignments but I doubt this will be that way as if you’re applying to us, you’re obviously in it for the same reasons we are (:

Are you easily disappointed and/or angered by imperfections? I can be disappointed in myself but not those I’m working with, we’re all about having fun and making wonderful, strange things that will confuse and delight those around us.

What type of camera will you be using? I have an Xperia Z3 which has a 20.7 mp camera and can capture pictures and videos with wonderful quality.

What level of priority do you/your team assign GISHWHES? I work full time but am taking thurs n friday off work during the hunt. My sister is free the whole week.

What is your intended outcome of GISHWHES? We are looking to have a good time, make friends and do our best! 

Do you/your team have any specific skills/trades that might be especially useful to the hunt (please provide no more then five)? Artist/ graphic designer, live 10 mins from the beach, live 30 mins from LA, Free passes to Disneyland, access to birds and lizards.

Do you view familiarity with teammates a necessary aspect to a successful hunt? yes we would love to get to know everyone beforehand and strategize.  

Do you regularly take control of projects in which you are assigned a team (are you a natural leader)? Yes, I have always been very organized and a great leader. I’m the oldest of 6 kids… My sister is the youngest and is good at following directions well.

Are you easily disappointed and/or angered by imperfections? The only thing that frustrates me is lack of trying. If you really try then I am very happy!!

How many years have you/your teammates participated in GISHWHES? I am not part of a team, as this will be my first year participating in GISHWHES. (0 Years)

What level of priority do you/your team assign GISHWHES? I am in college, so I may not be free to participate during the day, depending on when the hunt begins. However, ALL of my free time will go to GISHWHES.

What is your intended outcome of GISHWHES? I have heard a lot about the hunt, and I want to have a good time, but winning wouldn’t hurt either :)

Do you/your team have any specific skills/trades that might be especially useful to the hunt (please provide no more then five)?As for skills, I am a singer and a guitar player, (I can sing in different voices, too) my uncle owns a stucco-stone busines, so I have access to heavy-duty power tools, my grandmother owns horses, and I have access to a neighborhood pool. (don’t know if that counts as a skill, but if needed I can reserve the pool so it is available only to my team)

In a team, which do you prefer… I would probably go with option two, have one leader with all member involved in decisions.

Do you view familiarity with teammates a necessary aspect to a successful hunt? I don’t think that familiarity is necessary, but I would like to be comfortable with my teammates.

Do you regularly take control of projects in which you are assigned a team (are you a natural leader)? I am NOT a natural leader, but I can take control of a situation if I know what I am doing.

Are you easily disappointed and/or angered by imperfections? I am not a perfectionist. Mistakes are fine.

2. Years experience: 0

3. High. I am in university and can skip classes as long as I don’t have a test which would take at most an hour out of my time, however, I usually only have test twice a semester so I should be able to devote all my time to it.

4. To win. I think it would be awesome to bring awareness to my group of friends/college but I also am extremely competitive and want to win.

5. I enjoy drawing, mainly with pencil. I also like writing, I am working on a novel, I have written a lot of songs, and I do partake in some poetry occasionally. I also love photography and videography. I can also play the guitar.

6. I think there should definitely be a leader with a form of a democratic process, being able to voice your thoughts and opinions.

7. I don’t think it is a necessity, but I think communication and mutual familiarity would help out extremely.

8. If I am comfortable with the task I can be a great leader, however, this being my first time I would prefer not to.

9. I am a very competitive person but I am also pretty laid back, if things don’t go my way I am okay with it, I know I just should try harder the next time.

10. Texting I think is the easiest, but I constantly check my email and twitter and get notifications so anything is fine really.
