I've been wondering if Molly might be nefarious in some fashion ever since she showed up at the wedding dressed as a giant lemon meringue (lighting/color meta lurking at back of mind.) Not that I want her in Moriarty's colors, but then I thought, well, perhaps she didn't dress herself. Or perhaps it was misdirection; after all, Janine HAWKins (bird family? okay, so some poetic license there, as raptors aren't crows, but hey, names are important) was swathed in lavender-- er, lilac. -Mat
“dressed as a giant lemon meringue”
lol now that I’m done laughing for 5 minutes straight, this is interesting! Well the most obvious things that I can first think of with yellow are hope and happiness. But then again, it could also be like a caution sign, or the adjective ‘yellow’ can be used as coward, associated with deceit.
There’s a lot of interesting metas about purple and yellow in TSOT. This one includes theorising about Molly ‘blending’ into the background. Or this one which associates purple vs yellow with queer vs hetero.
Her costume colour is really interesting here. I feel we really get a wallflower vibe from her and while there’s nothing necessarily good/bad about that, it would definitely be a twist for that not to be the case.
Overall I feel I have read more evidence supporting Molly as a goodie solely in terms of her function in the Johnlock narrative as well as Sherlock’s character arc, but because she is a from-scratch character created by Mofftiss, who apparently had little original intention of her carrying through but she still did, I wouldn’t put anything past them.
