WHO TF looked at Canvas Discussions and said “ah yes this is great but can we make them so much more needlessly complicated and make a faux social media out of it”.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but at LEAST with Canvas Discussions at MOST professors only want me to respond to the prompt, then respond to one(1) other student. With yellowdig? Nah fam that shit is a point system with each post being 50-200 points based on whether or not you meet the word count. Then you need to accumulate 1000 points a week to make it actually count. That means not only do you have to write a response to the prompt, you also have to comment on like multiple other student’s posts like “ah yes I like your insights on this” but stretch it to meet the word count and repeat ad infinitum until the goddamn points are reached
Honestly one of the biggest pet peeves I’ve seen in college. The biggest is this professor who asks for 3 pages a week on the previous lecture. No it was not creative writing or anything related to writing or English or anything.
