Tonight my little teenage echo knight signed up to fight a giant croc in a marsh town for fun and (accidental) profit and it was. Certainly a chain of events.

Yen sets up, gets the echo ready and all

Croc jumps out of the water at him and its bite attack crits. Yen is immediately knocked unconscious

The cleric and the warlock (watching from the stands) do some long-range healing, enough to get him back up to full

Yen manages to not get eaten immediately, brings the echo back and uses it to teleport out of the croc's mouth

Proceeds to wail on this thing, I love how many attacks fighters get it's stupid and amazing

The warlock puts a hex on the croc that takes 4hp from it every round. Nice.

Yen gets one more boost of healing word from the cleric (from 3hp to 10!)

The croc hits again. Knocks him down. Immediately is killed by the hex bc it had 2hp left.

Yen won I guess???

what are three songs that suit them? I need a real playlist for this boy but lemme just. grab a few from random scrolling Be Okay - Haley Klinkhammer The Reckless and the Brave - All Time Low Roots - Swingin Hammers (more subconsciously bc ah consecution)

have they ever been in love? i see those eye emojis, i see them but at this point, nah, the boy’s 16. He has had multiple crushes, he has one right now, but nothing much more than that. (on the other hand YOU TELL ME, I don’t know what previous-life-Yen got up to fdjskl)

what are they attracted to in other people? Compassion. A good sense of fun. Someone that like...does appreciate his dumb jokes, but also takes his actual skills seriously (like listen, he knows he’s small compared to a lot of other people, he knows, but he’s also got a giant axe and he can use it). More recently discovered, and kind of ironic given the last point, the ability to just. Easily Lift Him. 

what is the most beautiful thing in the world, for them? Any new horizon. Even with the ridiculous circumstances around it, he’s still so excited to be Out In The World, and he adores seeing all these new places and meeting new people and every morning they pack up their little cart and start heading to yet another new place is just. The Best.

what is a quiet passion of theirs? He’s found that he genuinely loves writing. Mostly the letters he sends home but he’ll sometimes just do stream-of-consciousness almost journaling? which, considering how fast the boy’s thoughts go, is kind of a feat. It helps him sort out events and ideas and the like a lot easier.

do they value mercy or justice more? hoo boy interesting,, He follows Erathis so like. I think he’s convinced he’s all about the proper justice and whatnot, it’s rather important to a god called the Lawbearer, but. When it comes down to it, even his lawful good self would probably lean more toward mercy. He wants to believe people can be good if they’ve got the right chance!

how would they describe their party members? Coral is like. Probably the smartest person he knows, really. Not entirely clear what her powers are or where they come from, he’s not familiar with warlocks let alone celestial ones, but she can make herself look like Anyone which is super cool, and seems to know how to handle the more adult-type social situations better than most of them.

Quill is strange, but fun? Very fun. All his little magic trinkets and potions and such are confusing but super cool, and I mean just the fact that he is a cat sort of ??? Quill’s good for talking to when you want someone to like. Validate that yes, this sucks, it really does. Also has a gun now, Yen’s very excited to see what happens when he finishes fixing it.

Kit doesn’t talk very much, but she seems really sweet when she does. And is also. Very down for stealing things (almost all of them are, really). Anyone willing to sit up in a tree with him in the middle of the night while he tries to talk to some weird,,, person that may or may not travel through trees is very cool in Yen’s book. She’s also super fast! Sneaky! He is determined to find things to make her happy more!

Gemma is Very Interesting. Very snarky, sometimes difficult to tell when she’s joking or not? But she also knows a lot of things, some very obscure things sometimes (she took college courses!), and is a boss with that lyre. Seems to bounce wildly between being a voice of reason and “no wait that sounds horrible I’m in.” Which is confusing but fun?

Ax is. Ax. He’s just so nice is the thing, and usually so quiet that when he suddenly makes a joke it’s even funnier for it. It’s super cool knowing a dragonborn in general, and Ax can heal and sic bugs on bigger bugs and apparently just easily lift some of his fellow party members ?? Talking to Ax always seems to help things feel a little better. Even if those things are still weird and possibly bad, there’s just. such good vibes from that boy.
