her father’s voice shouting her name. the man who forever changed her life sneering at her. these were the sounds and images that plagued her mind. a gunshot sounds and then it hits dongwoo in the head and he collapses, dead in her lap. she screams, but there are no sounds from her lips and she struggles for breath. she still can’t breathe as her eyes suddenly fly open. “what’s wrong?” dongwoo looks at her, his fingers gently running through her hair. “was it a nightmare?” he asks. she nods her head, her hand resting on her chest. her heart is racing, pounding. it had seemed so real. “it’s not real,” she whispered, trying to calm herself down. she had eliminated the other. the threats were gone. she didn’t have to be afraid, and yet, there were still times when those horrific moments plagued her mind. “you’re here,” she whispered some more. “the nightmare. they killed you.” for once, real life was a more beautiful place than her dreams. he pulled her closer as her own arms wrap tight around him. “don’t ever go, okay?” she looked up at him, her hand resting on his face. “i can’t lose you. ever.” sure, they had built up their life slowly but surely after everything that happened, but she had already lost so many people she loved. the thought of more made her struggle to breathe. “it’s okay. go to sleep. no one is coming to get you. i’m here,” he told her, as she nodded her head. she wasn’t too sure if she’d be able to fall asleep, but the warmth of his arms around her felt safe and eventually, she drifted off back into lalaland.
