When did you realize you were first an empath? Is being an empath a gift?

Honestly?? Hmm...I think I was a little late to the game upon realizing I was actually an empath, haha. I just assumed everyone was in tune with others..auric emotional fields? I’ve known I was an aura reader since I was young, though, I think I kinda tagged empath with it, although they’re pretty different things. Probably late teens was when I was like “oh, I’m an empath,” lol.

I think being an empath is just an ability someone can have, I don’t necessarily think it’s a gift--it can be both a good and bad thing. Most empaths are simply born that way and can hone it as they age, but I’ve known a few, (and I do mean seldom few) that have developed being an empath (perhaps we all have the ability and it just lies latent in us for another life, who knows!)
