Editorial

When faced with the brief of creating your own magazine, I struggled to think of what subjects I’m passionate about. It was clear that out of all my ideas, a magazine centred around history of art had the most potential. I knew I wanted to modify the art in some way, to bring it in to the 21st century. Originally this took the form of social media, such as Michelangelo’s David reimagined in a bathroom mirror taking a ‘gym gains’ selfie, or a Venus bust championing the ‘free the nipple’ campaign. However, this felt a little empty and too digitally based. 

The idea of Manet’s Olympia on a Babe Station advert made for the back of a newspaper began the journey towards erotica.
