Dream of me, Hunt with me, Kill for me
Hunt with me: I’ll write a drabble about your character and mine on a hunt together.
Silent footsteps carried them closer to their prey. He could sense the creature just beyond the thicket. Fenris crouched low, slowly putting one foot in front of the other. He moved around the thicket, knowing he would make too much noise trying to get through it. A quick glance upward told him that his partner was still on her path as well. Despite the detour, Fenris quickly came within sight of the herd. The deer grazed on the grass in the clearing, closely watched by a large buck. He was their prize. A buck that size could feed their camp for a few weeks at least. If they could get a few does, they could be set for a month.
Fenris slowly moved in, using the tall grass to hide himself. Hunting at night wasn't difficult; not with the Force on his side. Each animal gave off an energy, and Fenris mentally mapped their locations. He focused on the buck for now. His hand closed around a sizable stone. But before he could even think to throw it, a doe close to him lifted her head. She began sniffing. Fenris froze.
The doe whistled sharply and turned to bolt. Cursing under his breath, Fenris threw the stone, propelling it at high speed with the Force. It hit went right through the back of the doe's head, dropping her to the ground. The rest of the herd began racing off, but the buck stayed at the rear. Fenris knew he had no time to grab another stone. Using every ounce of power he could muster, he focused on the buck. With one hand extended, Fenris grabbed the animal by the back of the leg. It was similar to a choke hold, but with the rest of the animal flailing desperately, it was hard for Fenris to hold on. Hurry up, hurry up.
Something whizzed through the air. The buck stiffened, then stilled. Fenris sighed in relief, and looked up as Fiona landed next to him. "Well done," he complimented, nodding at the buck, "He would have gotten away if you had not killed him so quickly."
Fiona simply smiled, "He would have gotten away if you had not held him. Come, let us return these to the camp. The girls will be glad to have fresh venison for a while."
