he opened his eyes, the grogginess hitting him like a brick. it took a while to adjust his vision (everything was too bright) and realize where he was. it shouldn’t be difficult because that wasn’t the first time mafia woke up there - not on that same bed but on the same room.
the i.v hooked up to his left arm felt strangely familiar and comforting. drip by drip telling him that he was gonna feel better soon - or, tragically, less worse - and that everything would be ok. it was just that same annoying weakness coming to visit like it always did, every once in a while when mafia pushed himself too far. his body was a temple that he treated like shit. “hello?” his mouth was so dry that he wasn’t even sure if he said those words out loud. was he alone there? no, impossible. but he was just so tired, so dizzy, that his brain was screaming just fall asleep already. “how long was i out?”
