The handle is magnificently simple, styled like an old school Italian stiletto, made from anodized 6061 aluminum with a textured pattern beneath the raised “X” pattern. A polished stainless deep carry pocket clip is configured for right hand tip up carry, while at the back of the Crossbones the backspacer extends past the end of the handle to form a subtle lanyard hole. A jimped flipper tab at the extreme edge of the handle pops open the Crossbones’ blade on a frictionless IKBS bearing pivot, a hallmark of many of CRKT’s higher end knives.

Opening Boxes, Letters, Packages, etc.
There’s nothing worse than spending half of Christmas morning watching your brother and law struggle helplessly with a Land’s End box. Of course, if you were carrying your trusty pocket knife, you would be spared this annoyance and could move on to other gift-giving.

For some reason, people find knives that lock open to be scarier than knives that don’t. This silly because that locking mechanism is a safety mechanism, preventing the blade from being able to close on your hand, but also somewhat understandable as most non-locking blades appear more harmless. Again, think of the prototypical Swiss Army knife.
But remember, knife laws are subject to the interpretation of courts and the police. Brandish even a little Swiss Army knife in a manner that may be construed as threatening and the police may decide to use it as an excuse to murder you. Exactly that just happened a few blocks from my house.

Humans are made of soft flesh and knives are metal and sharp. You could say fear is an entirely normal instinctual reaction.
