Hi this is just a regular old question but I'm writing a story with Carlisle and OC and I don't know if I should keep Esme. I love her but I don't know if I should have her Carlisle's long time friend or have it that Carlisle never changed her in the first place. Any thought, please?
Never remove characters if you can help it. I found that if you remove characters so that your OCs can replace them, your OC essentially becomes a replacement and there’s really no opportunity for it to make its own statement.
Let’s say I removed Bella from twilight so my OC could be there instead. People would basically see my OC as Bella and not to mention I would probably create my character in a way that takes Bella’s every flaw and made it so my character didn’t have them. So my OC wouldn’t be known as the OC, it would be seen as ‘better Bella.’
If you can, keep Esme in the story as like a side character in the Cullen family or have it so she was never changed in the first place. Because if she was changed Carlisle would never want her to leave the coven because he only changed humans he had an attachment to.
