' a little bird told me, it was someones special day. ' the prince voiced, as a soft - but tired, smile graced his features. ' i know it's nothing much, & even if you hate it -- i want to give this to you. ' a gloved hand reached forward, a small box laying flat on his palm - inside : a family heirloom, a necklace covered in multitudes of different precious gems. ' happy birthday, robin. i look forward to spending many more with you. '
“Oh—Chrom …” She’s a bit surprised at the other’s appearance, having been going about her day in relative obscurity ( well—as obscure as she CAN be, being the army tactician ) and thinking that no one’s really noticed how much time that’s passed; hell, even SHE forgot the date today until a bit too late … It’s not as though today is her real birthday, after all; she didn’t even remember when that is to begin with. It’s just … the anniversary of when she started a new life, essentially, with the Shepherds ( and, well, it was the birth of Ylisse’s new tactician isn’t it? ), and it means a lot, but celebrating it as her birthday … Well, it’s too late for that, now that she’s been discovered, and it’s not as though she’s going to bore Chrom with all these unnecessary semantics—if anything, she’s pretty touched that he’s remembered her ‘birthday’, and the smile that forms on her face is completely natural. “Thank you—that’s … so sweet of you. I could never hate a gift from …”
( well, she doesn’t hate it. )“Chrom! This is—” A lot. Worth probably more than her own life. Too much. “I … I couldn’t possibly accept this, this— This looks as though it’s worth more than our army’s entire savings! I—” Am incredibly flattered he’d even give this. Am wondering why he’d even give this. “I … I’m certain you’d rather keep this for the future, for— for …” Someone else more worth it. Ahem. “Thank you, Chrom, really, but I … I couldn’t.”
