Miki never operates on a regular schedule; even tonight when, on a rare occasion, Ken was staying over instead of her going over to his. At roughly 2 in the morning she woke up with a sudden bout of inspiration and a vivid image from her dreamscape, and she gingerly climbed out of his tangle of limbs so as to not wake his peaceful, sleeping form. She threw on a slouchy sweater that she had forgotten to put away and crossed her apartment with careful steps to her study, where she flipped on her desk lamp and immediately got to work, sketching out a rough study for the idea that had hit her.
Half an hour, maybe an hour passed before she straightened her hunched back from the paper, letting out a long breath as she surveyed the roughly sketched study. Finding it satisfactory, she finally set her pen back down and rubbed at her tired eyes with a yawn. And that’s when large hands set down on either side of her at her desk and warm, gentle lips found their way to edge of her jaw from behind. She drew in a sharp breath at the sudden sensation, her heart stopping for a split second before remembering that he was around, and her initial shock turned to relief with a loud sigh. He must have been standing behind her for a while and waited for her to drop her pen before making a move, as he wasn’t one to disrupt her in the middle of work. He chuckled softly against her ear, seemingly amused at her surprise, before those soft lips trailed their way from her jaw, down the curve of her neck and over to the shoulder that the slouchy sweater exposed–her eyes fluttered shut and hummed softly in appreciation, fingers finding their way into his hair and scratching his scalp gently. His lips lingered on her shoulder for a second, before standing back up straight and resting his arms on her shoulders instead, massaging them gently. She leaned her head back against his abdomen, a small pout on her lips.
