I think the disdain might be towards the people who act like it’s this superb masterpiece. It’s a fun series but it’s not exactly groundbreaking or whatever. I wish people wouldn’t hate SAO just because of the overzealous fans.

@turtles Oh yeah I'll agree with that. I've seen much glorification of it and as much as I enjoyed it, the anime could been much better but I do still like the novels and I enjoyed seeing it animated. Its an adaptation. And yeah SAO is not the first video game MMORPG thriller/action plot thing to exist. I guess its the bane of all fandoms- the bad apples tend to misrepresent, "the whole tree is bad."
