You started playing Touken Ranbu? OvO It makes me happy when people speculate about the toudans interacting with the Fate versions of their original owners. Do you have a favorite toudan?
i watched the katsugeki anime and stalked the wiki a bit, i want to watch the hanamaru anime next and maybe dig up one of those stage plays but i have zero intention of playing the game

Just shows how forgettable a lot of the cast is in Fates, unfortunately. If not for some of my friends drawing/reblogging fanart, Iâd probably only be able to remember the Nohrian siblings, Kaze, and Niles. And maybe Jakob. (And the Ylisse trio of course, but thatâs mostly because they were introduced in a better written game.)
Yeah, Iâm basically in the same boat. I have to process through the cast by going âOkay, thereâs Corrin, thereâs the siblings, and their retainers. Thatâs it, right? Thatâs the cast?â And then my recollection dies off. I eventually remember there are foxes and wolves, but the remainder of the cast takes a lot longer to recall, if they are remembered at all. Itâs a shame, though, because it means I can never, ever forget Peri, the worst character.
Thing is, I donât know if I necessarily want âless casualâ either, because traditionally that just means itâs more grinding and tedious bullshit weâre pretending is fun difficulty. Making entry into competitive more casual by allowing easier access to needed items is what they need to do. The main games, as much as I love them and think itâs a lot better than a Go clone, still have a tremendous amount of issues that are so easy to fix but never are.
That said though, I think the worst is having to own other games now to access things. Better be playing Go if you want this legendary.

I agree with you about EO III being over represented. (I also preferred RM over Zodiac. Zodiac only really stands out amongst the mage classes cuz of Dark Ether imo. Since EOX has Ninja too, maybe TP Battery is still a viable support build...) I'm kinda bummed that they didn't bring back the Yggdroid class. It's probably because it was never available as a subclass. Same idea applies to the Beast class, too.

That still doesn't justify leaving out the Bushi. And there's some overlap between the Nightseekers and sword Dark Hunters, but a whip Dark Hunter is distinct enough for the 2 classes to exist in the same game imo. I like the Dark Hunters more than the Pugilists, too. It would've been nice to see how the Dark Hunter and Arcanist classes synergized.
Ah, another person who likes Runemaster over Zodiac. Â I am glad to find someone else who understands.
Also I hadn't even considered Dark Ether. That strategy...really didn't seem that good to me? Â Like, it seemed okay, but not that impressive? Â Of all the strategies to keep, that one seems least interesting. Then again, Ninja has to be able to do something. Â I don't feel like they had a defined niche at all. Â A good choice for sub-class on several, but not really a great base class.
Why not change Yggdroid, though? Â Yggdroid could be a sub-class. Even if it couldn't, who's going to lament one less option as a sub-class? Â Not me. Â EO4's subclass system, and to a lesser degree even EO3's, had pretty clear-cut "best answers." Â You could play around, but there are obvious correct subclasses for each unit. Â Who's going to run not-Imperial on Runemaster? Â Who's going to run Medic on Landsknecht? Â It's open-ended, but with fairly "Correct" answers, just a bit more variety, but a much higher potential to mess up if you don't know what you're doing. Â Yggdroid almost makes more sense under such a system. Â They have good passives but almost nothing else going for them; they're perfect to ignore as a sub-class and perfect as a main class that can't really pick a bad sub-class.
Bushi had no reason to be excluded. Â I'm going to continue hoping for DLC. Â But in a more real-world question, the Vessels were the closed-off ones that didn't trust easily, and the Bushi were the humans' bros. Â Why would our bros not follow us to the new location, but the people who didn't trust us would? Â Doesn't make any damn sense.
Whip Dark Hunter is plenty distinct, and even their sword-focused ones had the bait traps and the healing, so that's distinct as well. Â Nightseeker is an entirely different class. Â Their focus is on damage through ailments, while Dark Hunter is either damage through binds, or status support stall. Â It's silly to consider them too similar.
Dark Hunter and Arcanist would've paired beautifully. Â Basically, I think it would be the inverse of Arcanist and Harbinger match-up. Â Harbinger will likely also focus on ailments (or so I hope, but then they're REALLY similar to Nightseeker), in which case Arcanist can focus on Bind circles. Â Replace Harbinger with Dark Hunter, and the Arcanist just focuses on ailments instead of binds.
Not to mention, in all of this, it's stupid to worry about overlap anyway. Â EO2U had overlap like crazy, and we're at a point where skill trees have given two distinct paths that allow virtually any role to be occupied by multiple classes, just with a minor spin. Â You need a healing unit? Â You have classic Medic that has high heal rate, War Magus with lower heal rate but all activate twice per turn, and Princess with Protect Order. Â You want elemental damage? Â Arcanist or Gunner, take your pick on physical damage or raw elemental, multi or single-target. Â Princess can back up the multi or single target option with Order skills, depending on which you chose not to run. Â Need something to protect you from the elements? Â Protector blocks outright, while Princess and Dancer can reduce the threat from those elemental breath attacks to manageable levels. Â Need ailments? Â Hexer has all of them, but if you need specific ones, there's Alchemist with Poison, Survivalist with Sleep, etc. Â If you don't need a specific one but just need status for some reason, War Magus can activate their own stuff with Random Ailment. Â It just feels like we're past the point of pretending that there's not massive role overlap. Â I think it's a good thing to have the two options; it's why I liked Master Class in EO5. Â Units can choose one path to go down to fill a role. Â Want elemental damage but didn't choose Warlock? Â Good news, Divine Punisher can unleash a lot of elemental damage. Â Want binds but don't like Pugilist? Â Rover can hit one, depending on the animal type you chose, and Blade Master Masurao can inflict all of them, albeit randomly. Â There's almost always a backup for any critical mechanic you need (healing, elemental damage), and more than one option for non-required mechanics (binds, debuffs, etc). Â Just...duplicate if you need to. Â No one's going to complain.
