Author Note: So, I have thought about doing this and here it is!! This is a series rewrite for The Walking Dead. I DO NOT own twd or any of the characters. Thanks for reading!!
Author Note pt 2: Also, I am really sorry for being inactive. I’ve been busy, what with getting this new job and trying to save up for going to Chicago in July and October, and I am finally out of school for the summer, so this means I should be writing more. I also lost some motivation so I’m doing some small things to help with it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this new chapter of my TWD Series Rewrite!
You were all running. Rick carrying Carl, with you close behind him. There was a bigger man who was holding a rifle. He shot Carl, but it was entirely accidental.
"How far?" Rick yelled out.
"Bout a half mile that way. Talk to Hershel. He'll help your boy." But you and Rick had already taken off by the time he finished the sentence. Rick had to stop fr a second and readjust Carl, getting a better grip. The house was just a little bit away. Fence surrounded the house.
"Rick, I can run him there, if you need me to." Rick was being stubborn.
"We're almost there." He breathed out.
"The faster he gets help, the better chance he'll have." Rick was slowing down. You grabbed Carl, putting him agaisnt your chest. "I'll get him help." Rick was so out of breath, he could barely move fast enough. So you ran. You ran to the house, with Rick behind you as you saw five people coming out.
"Was he bit?" The white haired man asked, and you shook your head.
"Shot. By your man. He said to find Hershel." Rick gasped out.
"Otis?" One of them asked.
"Help him. Help my boy." Rick was almost hysterical. You followed them inside, listening as the white-haired man, who you assumed was Hershel, call out for Patricia as he rolled his sleeves up. He called out to someone else, Maggie. He was having the rush and get different things. You layed Carl on the bed. And then you stepped away, as you saw Rick trying to stay close as possible. You had to step out of the room. That smiley boy from earlier was replaced by the unconscious one, who had small chances, considering. You brought your hand up to your mouth, and you moved away from where you could hear them talking. When Rick came out, that was when you followed him outside.
"Rick. From the way Hershel was talking, I believe your son is in good hands, and will be taken care of to the best of their abilities. Ok?" Rick didn't respond as the both of you walked outside, and you saw SHane and Otis. Rick was so in shock. He barely registered the words comig from their moouths. He led you back in, and you were all gathering aroud the room. Hershel had a cloth over the wound, checking it once before he looked at y'all.
"What's his blood type?" He asked.
"A Positive, just like mine." Rick replied in a dejected voice.
"Good. Don't go too far. I'll need you. Now, what happened?"
"Was tracking a buck. The bullet went straight through." His voice was soft, almost timid.
"It did slow the bullet down. Which certainly saved his life. But it did not go through clean. If I can get the bullet fragments out, I'd count six." Hershel said, and Odis was talking to a woman you assumed was his wife.
"Well, wait a second. 'If' you can get the fragments out? Do you have the necessary tools to do this?" You took notice of his use of the word, 'if'. That wasn't a good word to have to use, in any kind of situation. You and Rick spoke at nearly the same time, and you didn't catch what he said, but it was something about Lori. When Shane and Rick left the room, you got a little closer to him. "Hershel. Do you have the supplies to save him?"
And it was then that Carl was awake and obviously in pain. The short-haired brunette went and got the other two, while he had you try and help hold him down. He was just squirming too much.
"You. Hold him down." He directed this at Shane, who got on the other side. The older lady was trying to draw blood from Rick, who yelled out, "Stop it you're killing him."
"Do you want him to live?" His words may have seemed harsh, but it was the truth. He needed blood and Rick was the only one who had the sam blood typpe there.
"Do it!" Shane yelled at him, and Rick relented. Carl was still moving, crying out in pain and for Rick. And then with a final cough like sound, he was still. You and Shane looked at each other before at Hershel.
"Wai-wha-?" Shane stuttered out, clearly about to panic.
"He's just passed out." He continues lightly digging around, before he pulls a bullet fragment out and says, "One down. Five to go."
Carl was stabalized for now, and you had sat outside, just siting there. Thinking, but away from them to give them all space. 'Damn. I hope this boy doesn't die on them. Rick surely would break down. Especially with how he seems now, it would not be a pretty sight.' Just as you thought all that, you saw Otis and Shane outside, with Rick, Hershel and the older woman, who you thought was named Patricia, come out. Shane and Odis went to the blue truck that was out there, before getting in and driving off, after a few words shared between each other. You jogged over to Rick.
"Rick. Where's my brother going?" You hated not knowing what was going on, especially when it concerned your brother.
"He and Otis are going and getting the supplies to save Carl." He replied.
"Oh." You stared after the trail of dust, a sinking feeling settling in your gut. "Can I do anything to help?"
"No, not at the moment. Maggie's gone to get Lori." Hershel said, and you nodded, acknowledging his words.
"Well, I'm just gonna go walk around then. Uhm, just, yell if you need me. I'll be close by." You started with walking around the house, taking in different features. Afterwords, you went back to the porch, and just sat back. And before you knew it, you were asleep.
What woke you up was the sound of crying. Head whipping forward, you stood quickly, and was met with the sight of Lori and Rick, she was crying as he held her. Hershel turned at the sudden noise, realizing it was only you. You sat back down, running a haand through your hair before resting your head on your hand, just spacing out, staring at the beautiful scenery.
"We'll be inside, where you're more than welcome to join us." Hershel offered, and you shook your head.
"No, I wanna wait on my brother to get back. Thank you though. Oh, uhm, do you think that I can have a spare change of clothes? Or can I go get my own, back at the highway?" You stopped him from leaving, and you slightly motioned down to the blood on your shirt. "I'd rather get the blood out before it stains completely."
"Of course. You may be able to fit in Patricia's, or maybe Otis', especially with your height, and that your not straight up and down like my girls." Hershel was kind enough to show you where you could get clothees, and you grabbed a t-shirt of Otis', and shorts from Patricia.
"Thank you for this, by the way. I don't know what we would've done if you hadn't helped. I mean, if I'd have tried, he would've ended up with an infection, but at least everything is rather sterile, all things considered." You gave him a smile after changing, your combat jeans and black tank top and cream overshirt stacked neatly.
"It's not a problem, but, how would you have known what to do? If you don't mind me asking."
"I've dealt with bullets fragmenting inside someone, and myself before. I've had to clean up the messes, and sometimes my own, without anyone to help. I worked as an agent in the government. Do you have any peroxide by chance? I just need a little." He showed you where it was as you started to clean your clothes. He left you alone for the time being, and cleaning the clothes took longer than expected, but you managed to get the blood out entirely. You hung everything up to dry, before heading downstairs, and notice the sun had went further down. You felt useless. Nothing for you to do, really. So you sat on the couch, and closed your eyes, resting for a bit.
You jumped, hearing Lori's voice raise in the other room. It had gotten dark, and you listened in. Shane and Otis really needed to hurry back if Carl was gonna make it.

It was the day after the walker attack, and Andrea hadn’t really moved. She was sitting next to her sister’s body, holding her hand. Lori had just tried to talk to her, to get her to move and let them make sure she wouldn’t turn. But she didn’t even react to her words.
“Andrea, sweetheart. You don’t want to see or watch her turn. It is not good to watch. I don’t want you to have to see that.” You said, trying to tell her that youo needed to do it. She only shook her head. You watched as Daryl hit the dead in the head, and T-dog and Glenn moved the bodies. Then when Rick tried going over to her, she pulled a gun on him and told him she knew how the safety worked. He backed away slowly. Once he was far enough away, she put the gun down. You knew she was grieving. She almost could not handle her death. You were hanging back with Shane and Rick, when Jacqui said that Jim got bit, that a walker got him. You all got up, and he grabbed a shovel, trying to protect himself. T-dog went behind him and held his arms in place while Daryl, lifted his shirt to check. And indeed, there was a bite. You were shaking your head after seeing it, and looking down at the ground. Jim kept repeating ‘I’m okay, I’m okay.’ After all that mess, they were discussing some things, while you went back to Andrea.
Before she could tell you to go away, you said, “I came over here to be with a grieving friend. Not to tell you what should happen.” She nodded her head at your words, and you sat down on the opposite side of her. After a few moments, Dale came over and said that he wanted to pay his respects, and sat down with you all.
“Have I ever mentioned, how I lost my wife?” Dale asked.
“Cancer, wasn’t it?” Andrea responded, unsure though.
“Yeah. I-I dragged her to every doctor, e-every test. And, after all the surgeries, chemos, she was ready. She accepted it, ya know.” Dale said. “But I never could. And I spent the last few years, so angry. I felt so cheated. Since she passed, you girls, were the first people, that I cared anything for.” After he said his piece, Andrea reached into her pocket and grabbed the neckalce. “This is her birthday.” He said as he suddenly realized. She nodded in response to his words.
“Her birthday was always like a week long affair. But I always somehow, missed it. I was away at college, too busy for kids parties. She’d call all excited. I always said that I’d make it home, and I really always meant to. But, I never made it past that phone call. "Andrea said.
"You know, things are hard enough for you, without adding guilt into the mix, huh.” Dale said. She then got the necklace out of the paper, and was placing it on her sister. You and Dale both got up, and were walking away, so she could be alone. You saw that Carol was the one to make sure her 'husband’ didn’t turn. She put the axe into his skull a few times until she stopped and she was crying a bit. You were sitting with Dale and Carol when you noticed that Amy had turned. She was awfully close to Andrea, but you all just sat back and were watching what was happening. Then, she got her gun and pulled the trigger after placing it against her skull. You watched her, and she seemed better than she was earlier. She probably really was supposed to be the one that did it. You had then went and joined Lori and the others, making sure everyone was okay. You had been one of the last people up to where they were burying the dead, and you stood with Shane, and everyone was crying and mourning their deaths. After the bruials, you had stayed back at the camp with Lori, Carol and Andrea, along with the others. You and Andrea had fallen asleep, which you didn’t even realize how exhausted you were. And the sounds of nature were just a background noise as you slept.
You had slept through the night, and was woken up by Shane. He had to shake your shoulder, and told you that you were all leaving. You got yourself and your things ready to go, and made your way outside. You were ready to go, and had your motorcycle in the back of Daryl’s truck, alongside his, and you planned on riding with him. You tuned them all out, and Morales had decided to not come with you all. You had gotten in the truck with Daryl and were following behind the RV for some time, when the hose of the RV had busted. This caused you all to stop. You and Daryl both had your bows ready, for anything. Shane had went with T-dog to go and see what was at the gas station that seemed to be just up ahead. And Jim was getting worse. You stepped in for a moment, and heard Jim say that he wanted to be left where they were to die. You smiled empathetically at him, before stepping back out.
“He wants to be left here to die.” You say to Daryl.
“Yeah, I would too.” He replied. They discussed what he wanted and what was gonna happen, and Lori told them it wasn’t their call, that it was Jim’s. You had stood back and away, letting everyone say their good-byes. You could tell everyone was saddened that he wasn’t going to be with them anymore. And so, you all had him propped against a tree, and you left him there.
After even more time, you all had come to a stop. The road was barricaded, and there was dead on the sidewalk and the street. So many dead bodies. There were flies all over. And then you began to make your way over to the buildings, with your weapons ready. It was getting darker out, and you all were approaching a building that was most likely the main CDC building. There were gates pulled down and locked, and then there was a walker that had gotten up. Daryl shot and killed it before anyone else could. Then Shane was saying it was a dead end. And he had also told Daryl to shut up. Rick was going a little crazy, and we all thought nobody was here. He began to bang on the gate, creating noise, which meant walkers. He was also slightly shouting. We were going to need to be able to leave, but we couldn’t leave any of them behind. Rick was still shouting, and Lori and Shane were trying to get him to stop, while the rest of you were prepared to start shooting the walkers. When Shane was having to forcefully drag Rick away, that was when it opened up. There was a bright light, and it blinded you all from seeing what was inside. And you all were staring in shock at the scene in front of you.

You had slowed down once you saw Rick and the others. You turned your head and nodded, and received one, so you went after Glenn again, smiling that he was having fun while he could. While you were behind Glenn, you saw that he was slowing down to a stop, so you did the same. He had gotten out, and you could hear them arguing. They had finally gotten the alarm to stop, and you heard a voice call out, asking who you were. You looked up after you had gotten your helmet off and saw your older brother. You dropped thee helmet in shock and just stood there. Shane had finally turned and saw you. Then the other truck pulled around behind you, and that's when you took off. You jumped into his arms, clinging onto him tight.
"Shane... Oh my god Shane." You cried. You couldn't hear anything because of the shock of finding him, but after a bit, you did hear a boy cry out, "Dad!" You glanced up from Shane's shoulder, and saw a young boy, rushing over to Rick, and saw who you assumed to be his wife, with tears in her eyes not believing that he was alive. You kept looking at them, and noticed the shift in her expression. It was an anger and hateful one. It was directed to Shane, as she didn't know you. You stayed by Shane's side almost the entire rest of the day.
The time came that it was nighttime and you all were sitting around a fire. You were leaned up against Shane, barely paying attention to what Rick was saying, while his wife and child were leaned on him as well. You caught bits and pieces of who was talking, about how Rick was disoriented and how words could barely describe what he felt and was going through. Then his son said he thought he was dead. And Rick replied, telling him that he had every reason to think that. Lori explained what the hospital had said to her, while Rick told her that it didn't surprise him that the med-evac didn't happen after Atlanta had fallen. Shane interjected at one point, saying that looks didn't deceive, and how he had barely gotten them out of there. But that he was thankful as well, that Rick had been with you.
Rick was saying that he was thankful for Shane being there for them, when he could not be. Then, someone put another log in the other fire.
"Hey, Ed? Wanna rethink that log?" Shane asked.
"It's cold man." Ed, you assumed, responded.
"Cold don't change the rules now does it? Keep our fires low so that we can't be seen from a distance, isn't that right," Shane half asked, half said to him.
"I said it's cold." Ed responded, yet again. "Why don't you mind your own business for once." Shane got up at that and made his way over to Ed. You all were quiet, and you could barely hear what was being said, as you had laid down and were dozing off. You could only tell that Shane was back, because he put your head in his lap. You had finally let the darkness consume you, knowing that you were safe from harm.
You had opened your eyes to find that it was bright out, and that you were in a tent. You could smell and see your brother's clothes, that were in the tent. You got up, grabbed your bow, and began to walk around. You were moving towards where you heard some sound, and saw some people surrounding the cars and others just all around the camp. You saw a woman with short, gray hair, who's name you had yet to know, with clothes, that you assumed to be yours and Rick's. You saw Rick go over and thank her for it. When he walked away, you went over and decided to talk to her.
"Hey, uh, I'm Y/n. And thank you for doing the clothes. It's very generous and kind of you. What's your name? I kinda crashed last night before I was introduced." You said, giving a small smile.
"I'm Carol. You're welcome, thought it wasn't that much or difficult." She replied, responding with a small smile of her own. You followed after Rick to see Glenn staring at the car he had stolen. It was getting taken apart. You giggled slightly at the expression he had, and walked off to find Shane. Though, you were stopped when you heard the familiar sound of a car, most likely a jeep by the sound it made, come up the road and getting parked. You saw your brother get out and call out that the water was here. You walked over to him, but before you could say anything, you all heard a scream. You immediately jumped into action, heading over to where it came from, grabbed your bow off your back and got ready to shoot. You were weaving in between tents nd people before you had finally found the cause of the scream. You saw the kids and Jacqui running away from something, and you joined your brother, Rick, and 3 others to see what was there. It was a walker, eating on a deer's neck. They began to get into action, attacking the walker that was on the ground. You watched as Dale beheaded it, and then he spoke.
"That's the first one we've had up here. They never come this far up the mountain." He said.
"They've been running out of food in the city, that's what." Another said, and then you all heard rustling from the trees and bushes. You all got back into action, you drawing your string back, prepared to fire. That's when you all saw another man with a crossbow come from around the bush. You all relaxed, and you put your bow back on your back, with a sigh of relief.
"Son of a bitch," He said, while coming up further to see the deer he had shot. "That's my deer. All gnawed on by this filthy, motherless, disease ridden bastard." He said those last few words while kicking the dead body.
"Calm down son. That's not helping," Dale said.
"Yeah? What do you know about it old man? Why don't you take that stupid hat and go back to "on golden pond"? I've been tracking this deer for miles." Daryl said. "Gonna drag it back to camp, cook us up some venison. What do you think, think we can cut around the chewed up part right there?"
"We cannot risk that," Shane said.
"That's a damn shame." Daryl said. "Got some squirrel about a dozen or so, that'll have to do."
"C'mon people, what the hell?" Daryl asked rhetorically, as he shot the walker head, at the same time you had an arrow and put it through his skull. He looked up at you and grinned slightly, seeing your weapon of choice. "Gotta get the brain. Don't y'all know nothing?"
"Merle! Merle! Get your ugly ass out here! I got us some squirrel! Let's stew 'em up" Daryl said, but was getting called at by Shane.
"Daryl, slow up a bit. I need to talk to you." He said. Daryl stopped and waited for Shane to get next to him, waiting for him to talk.
"About what?" He asked
"About Merle." Shane said. "There was a, complication up in Atlanta."
"He dead?" Daryl asked.
"We're not sure." Shane replied, before Daryl got closer to him.
"He either is or he ain't." Daryl stated.
"No easy way to say this, so I'll just say it. " Rick started, but Daryl began to talk again.
"Who're you?" He asked.
"Rick Grimes." Rick responded.
"Rick Grimes. you got something you want to tell me?" Daryl asked.
"Your brother was a danger to us all. So I handcuffed him to the roof, and hooked him to a piece of metal. He's still there." Rick said.
"Hold on, let me process this. You handcuffed my brother to a roof, and left him there?!" Daryl shouted the last part.
"Yeah," Rick replied. And then Daryl tried to go after Rick, but Shane intervened. And T-dog spoke up.
"Hey, watch the knife." He said, as Daryl pulled out his hunting knife.
"OI!" You yelled, and they looked at you. Shane's eyes were wide, as you hardly ever raised your voice. "Knock it off. Put the knife down. I know, I know what it is like to come back somewhere, and to not find your brother. Hell, that's exactly what happened when the world went to shit. But I didn't lash out at whoever was to blame, or someone that I have recently come across. I made allies, and we helped each other. And now, after I had been searching, I found him. So please, I promise we will go back, and get your brother. I swear it. But for now, we need to all be calm, and have a civil, conversation." That got him to calm down slightly, as you had raised your voice, and everyone backed down. "Give me the knife. I will hold it until the end of the conversation at least, that way you do not try to kill anyone. Not that you'd need it, but still." You said, and held out your hand for the knife. He handed it over, while narrowing his eyes slightly. "Good, now you all may continue your talk." Once you finished talking, you stepped back some, and began to analyze all of their faces, while drowning out their voices. Daryl was undeniably upset and angry, and T-dog had told him what had happened, and how he was still alive. He was slightly relieved, but was still pissed. You kept watching his face, making sure he wouldn't try to lash out again. You watched as everyone was talking about going back for Merle, and it was gonna be 4 of them. You decided to stay with your brother, and had told Rick so, and to protect the camp. You all watched as the van took off, and with it, Rick, Glenn, Daryl, and T-dog. You had decided to go out, and just do a bit of watching around the perimeter for a short time, in case there were other walkers that were close and had yet to stumble upon camp. You only found one, which you immediately disposed of. You came back to find Shane and Carl, down at the lake, splashing water to try and get frogs, from what you had earlier.
"Idjits." You mumbled, and began to make your way down to them. When you got down there, you caught the last bit of what Andrea had said, that she missed her vibrator, when Carol spoke up that she did too. You all were laughing at that, and then Ed came over, asking what was so funny.
"Just swapping war stories Ed," Andrea said, and they all were quiet. He was hanging around them, smoking a cigarette when Andrea spoke again. "Got a problem Ed?" She asked.
"None that concerns you." He replied. "Might want to focus on your work. This ain't no comedy club." Andrea lightly scoffed, and you rolled your eyes. You looked over to where you had seen Carl and Shane, and saw Lori there, with Carl not in sight. They appeared to be arguing, about what you didn't know. But it wasn't a good topic. You offered to help with the other women, as you didn't have much else to do. They accepted your offer and gave you some clothes to wash, which you did surprisingly good and fast compared to them.
They looked at you shocked, while you shrugged your shoulders and said, "I'm used to having to wash clothes quickly and efficiently." They smiled at that and continued, with occasional stops for chats or changing of clothes to wash.
"You know Ed, you don't like the way your laundry is being done, why don't you pitch in and do it yourself," Andrea said, and tossed a shirt at him, which he then threw back and it hit her neck. You all gasped in shock, seeing that.
"That ain't my job missy," Ed said.
"Andrea don't." Amy, her sister said.
"What is your job Ed? Sitting on your ass smoking cigarettes?" Andrea asked.
"Well, it sure ain't listening to some uppity smart mouthed bitch, tell ya what. Come on. Let's go." Ed said, and motioned for Carol to come with him.
"I don't think he needs to go anywhere with you Ed." Andrea interjected.
"And I say it's none of your business," Ed said. "Come on now. You heard me" Motioning again for Carol.
Then, they had begun to talk almost to fast for you to catch it all, but you heard that basically, Ed would hit and abuse Carol. And then you heard the loud slap. He hit Carol. Then all words were jumbled together as they were arguing. I watched them trying to get Ed off of Carol and you stepped in, hating the man even more. You stepped up and pulled Ed back. He tried hitting you, but you weren't phased by it. You had him pulled far enough away that he couldn't touch Carol or any of the other women. You were in front of him now.
"Lay another finger on her and I will personally remove your fingernails and cause you so much pain, that I would leave you to the walkers to die in the most painful way possible, don't think I won't do it, just because I'm quiet. I know how to torture people into insanity, to where they want to take their own life, without a care in the world about anything else, apart from death, to end the suffering. So back the fuck up, and don't you fucking dare lay another hand on her." You said, all up in his face, and they were all shocked by your reaction. "I will not allow someone else that I know, to ever be abused and hit. It's not right, even if it is the end of the world." You were barely holding back the furious rage you had to punch him, but you knew you shouldn't. You turned back to Carol, to make sure she was alright, when you saw your brother go up to him, drag him away, and begin to repeatedly punch him in the face. "Damn it Shane." You say, and go over to him, attempting to pull him off. You finally got him off, and pushed him away, and he heeded you unspoken words. You turned once more to find Carol kneeling over Ed's barely conscious body, and you moved her to the side.
"I'm sorry Carol. My brother isn't as calm and collected as I appear to be. C'mon, I'll help him up, and I will help you treat his wounds. Okay?" You apologized for your brother's brash reaction, and she nodded, while you put his arm over your neck, and half-carried, half-dragged him back up to the camp. You may have hated the man, but that didn't mean that you wouldn't try to help him. You were just that kind of person, giving people a second chance, when they didn't need it

Also, let me know if you want to be tagged in anything!! And I will most likely make a separate Masterlist for this specifically that will be linked in the regular Masterlist(eventually). My Request box is always open. This will most likely get gruesome at some point, so if you get queasy by the thought of blood, I suggest you read something of mine that doesn't involve it. Read at your own risk. Thanks for reading!!

A/N 2: Holy shit this is long. I'm watching the episode while writing so that I can write as I'm watching which is surprisingly easy and good. And I'm also using quite a bit from the show in dialogues, hardly changing the wording.
You had made it to a building, and decided to climb up it, to get a vantage point. While climbing, you never looked down, knowing that would be bad if you did. You got to the top after a little bit of climbing, and began to look around. You looked down at a corner, and saw a tank, and walkers crawling all over each other to get to something on the ground. What it was, you couldn't tell, but you thought it was Rick's horse, and hoped to god not him. You were observing the other buildings, seeing ways to get from one to another, when you caught a glimpse of a man standing on top of one near the roof you were on. Your eyes narrowed and you saw him talking, with you assuming he had a radio. After a bit, he went down a ladder. That's when you saw and heard commotion from below. The top of the tank opened, and you saw someone get out. You paid little attention to them, as you started to jump to buildings to get to where that man had been. Once there, you let out a sigh, and noticed they were coming back up the ladder. The man and Rick. You sighed again in relief, and they came up. The unknown man's eyes widened immensely, before he began to talk.
"Who are you and how did you get up here?" He asked.
"Y/n. And I climbed and jumped the buildings. Glad to see you're still a dumbass Rick. Least you're still alive." You respond, and they laugh when you call him a dumbass. "What?"
"That's just what I called him for getting in the tank. And I'm Glenn by the way. Now, let's go." He said. You grinned at hearing that. He began to lead you and Rick to a hatch that lead inside.
"Did you barricade the alley?" Rick asked.
"Nah, probably someone who was around right before the city went and not many geeks get through here." Glenn replied.
"Hey uh, back at the tank, why'd you save my ass back there?" Rick inquired.
"Foolish, naïve hope, that if I'm ever that far up shit creek, somebody might do the same for me. Guess I'm an even bigger dumbass than you," He responded again, while dropping his bag down and then made his way down, with you and Rick behind him. He lead you two through a room in a building, then out and down some stairs, while taking the radio and telling his group that he was coming and that he had two guests. At the bottom of the stairs, you three stopped as there were a few walkers there. They froze, but then, from a door, two people came out with armor like clothing, and a baseball bat each, and smashed their heads in. They ushered you in, and Rick was suddenly grabbed by a blonde woman, and she had a gun in his face.
"You son of a bitch, I oughta kill you." She said.
One of the guys that were wearing the armor spoke up, "Just chill out Andrea, back off."
"C'mon, ease up," another woman said to Andrea, the blonde.
"Ease up? Yeah, and we're all dead because of this stupid asshole."
"Oi. Knock it off sweetheart. Yes, he is a dumbass, but you kill him, and I kill all of you. Don't think I won't." You said, pissed that she had the nerve to put a gun in his face, the one person you had any sort of relationship with.
She looked at you, before the guy from earlier spoke up again, "Andrea, I said back the hell off." He waited for a minute before saying, "Or pull the trigger." She backed off.
"We're dead, we're all dead because of you," Andrea said, shaking her head, with tears in her eyes.
"Wh- I don't understand." Rick said, before he was taken by the arm, and told what they had been doing.
"Listen, we were sent in to scavenge. You scavenge to survive. You survive, by being sneaky and quiet. Not shoot the place up like the O.K. Corral." He said, and then Andrea spoke once more.
"You just rang the dinner bell." She said, and that's when you both noticed the walkers at the storefront, blocked by glass doors.
"Get the picture now?" The man from earlier spoke once more. The walkers were pounding on the glass, and were close to breaking it.
They all moved back, before they began to talk again.
"What the hell were you doing out there anyway" Andrea inquired.
"Was trying to see the helicopter," Rick said, before he was almost interrupted by the other woman.
"You were chasing after a hallucination, it happens." She said, and Rick quickly spoke again.
"No, I saw it." He said. That's when you all heard a gunshot.
"Oh no, was that Dixon?" She groaned. You all began to move , you and Rick following the group. You moved up a stairwell to the roof. There were more gunshots, that sounded like a rifle, and you all burst through the door.
"C'mon Dixon, you crazy?!" One of the men said.
Dixon, merely laughed, before saying, "You oughta be more polite to a man with a gun. Huh. Only common sense."
Then, the other guy, who had yet to speak, said, "Hey, man, you're wasting bullets we ain't even got man. And you're bringing more down on us, man chill."
Dixon replied with, "Man, it's bad enough that I have this taco-bender on my ass all day, and now I'm gonna take orders from you? I don't think so bro. That'll be the day."
"That'll be the day? You got somethin' you want to tell me?" He said, and then armor guy stepped in yet again.
"Hey, T-dog, man just leave it." He said.
"Naw man-" T-dog started, but was cut off.
"It ain't worth it. Now Merle, just relax. Okay, we've got enough trouble." He said. Glenn, you, and Rick shared a look, while Glenn just shook his head.
"You wanna know the day?" Merle asked.
"Yeah." T-dog replied.
"I'll tell you the day mister yo. It's the day I take orders from a nigger." Merle told, and T-dog went to punch him, but was dodged, and then Merle knocked the butt of the rifle on his face. T-dog fell back, and everyone rushed forward. Rick got too close, trying to intervene and prevent it, but was punched hard by Merle and thrown back as well. Merle kept attacking T-dog while the others just voiced their disapproval and to not do that. You walked over to him, not exactly realizing what you were doing. Merle had T-dog on the ground, and was repeatedly punching his face. You stopped his hand before it met T-dog's face, and Merle looked up at you. That's when you reached back quickly and punched him, most likely breaking his nose. He was shocked and slightly afraid, especially because you had no emotion while doing it. Since he had been thrown away from you from the power behind your punch, he didn't go back near you. That is when Rick stepped in. He dragged him over to the pipes, and handcuffed him.
"Listen close Merle. There are no niggers, and no dumb as shit in bred white fools either. There is only white meat, and dark meat. Us and the dead. We survive this by pulling together, not apart." Rick said, while messing with the gun.
"Screw you man." Merle said.
"I see you make a habit of missing the point." Rick said.
"Yeah, well then screw you twice." Merle replied.
"Better be polite to a man with a gun, only common sense." Rick said, copying his words from earlier while pointing the gun at him.
"You wouldn't. You're a cop. One of the good guys." Merle said, not scared or shocked.
"All I am, is a man, looking for his wife and son. Anyone who gets in the way of that is gonna lose. I'll give you a moment to think about that." Rick said, and took the gun away, while he searched Merle's pockets. He found drugs and commented, "You've got some on your nose there," and flicked his nose.
"What're you gonna do, arrest me?" Merle asked jokingly. Then shouted incoherently while Rick threw the drugs off the roof. He began to walk away, while Merle was shouting, "Do you hear me?"
"Yeah your voice carries," He said. You walked with him on one side while Morales, was on the other.
"You're not Atlanta PD. Where're you from?" He asked.
"From up the road a ways." Rick responded.
"Well, Officer Friendly, Welcome to the big city." He said, while they looked out to the streets with all the walkers. "And what about you? You seem to have had training of some kind, and no officer I have ever seen, can have those kind of weapons. Nor that kind of poker face while punching a man."
"I worked with the CIA. I was allowed a clearance to have my own artillery of weapons for different jobs." You answered. When you all finished talking, you walked back over, and he asked how the signal was.
"Like Dixon's brain, weak" was the response he got. Merle flipped him off, and you grinned at the sarcasm, but also bad news.
"Keep trying." Rick said.
"Why? There's nothing they can do, not a damn thing." Andrea said in response to his words before walking off.
"Got some people on the outside is all. No refugee center." He said.
"Then she's right. It's up to us to find a way out." Rick said.
"Good luck with that. These streets ain't safe in this part of town I hear. Ain't that right sugartits. Hey, honeybun. Lets say you get me out of these cuffs, we go off somewhere, and bump some uglies. Gonna die anyways." Merle said snarkily.
"I'd rather" She replied.
"I thought as much. Figured as much" Merle said dejectedly.
"Streets ain't safe, now that's an understatement." Morales said.
"What about under the streets. The sewers. " Rick suggested.
"Oh man." He said, before turning around. "Hey Glenn, check the alley. Do you see any manhole covers?" Glenn got up and jogged over there.
"No, he said, after a few moments of searching. "They must all be out on the streets where all the geeks are."
"Maybe not," Jacqui said right after them. "Old building like this, built in the twenties, big structures often had drainage tunnels into the sewers in case of flooding, down in the sub basements."
"How do you know that?" Glenn asked.
"Its my job. Was. I worked in the city's zoning office." She said, and that's when you all decided to go down and see if anything could happen.
Once you all were there, you had flashlights, and Morales asked, "You sure this is it? This is the right one?"
"Yeah, I've scoped this place out many times, it's the only thing that goes down. But I've never gone down it. Who'd want to right?" Glenn replied. He had a disgusted look on his face, which disappeared to mixed grimace and sadness when we all turned our heads to him. "Oh. Great."
"We'll be right behind you." Andrea said but was stopped by Glenn.
"No, you won't." He said. "Not you."
"Why not me?" She asked. "Think I can't?"
"That wasn't..." He said, but trailed off.
"Speak your mind." Rick said.
"Look, until now, I always came here by myself. In and out. Grab a few things, no problem. First time a bring a group, everything goes to hell. No offense. If you want me to go down this hole, fine. But only if we do it my way." He said. "It's tight down there. If I run into something and need to get out quick, I don't want you all jammed up behind me, and get me killed. I'll take one person. Not you either. You've got Merle's gun and I've seen you shoot. I'd feel better if you're out there, watching those doors, covering our ass. You've got the only other gun, so you should go with Rick. Jacqui, you stay here and yell if anything happens. Y/n, I think I would like you here with me. I've seen you do stuff that not many can do, and you're fast. Sorry Morales, but she is very fast. And she's quiet and pretty fearless. So, Morales, you stay here with Jacqui, and flit between the both pairs."
"Okay. Everybody knows their jobs." Rick said, and gave Glenn a reassuring pat on the shoulder. He nodded before putting the flashlight in his mouth and heading down the ladder. You grabbed another and did the same, following him down. You both were now holding your flashlights and making your way through the sewer. There were rats on the ground and he made a grimacing face and noise. You both had kept moving forward and found a grated area. There were bars that were grated, and it looked like you couldn't get past them.
"Well, we have ourselves a sewer tunnel. Jacqui was right." You say, while Glenn got closer to the gate.
"Can we cut through it do you think?" He asked unsure.
"If we had a blowtorch and half a day we could." You reply. "The hacksaw I saw earlier though certainly won't do it." That's when you saw the walker eating the rat, and he reached through the bars. You and Glenn were quick to jump back, and he let out a gasp. You made your way back through the pipe and back up. You both heard the sound of glass breaking and saw that the walkers had managed to break through the first set of glass doors.
"Did you find anything down there?" Rick asked.
"Not a way out." You replied.
"We need to find a way." Andrea said. "Soon."
They were looking at the construction site, seeing the trucks there, and Rick said they always had keys on hand.
"But we'll never make it past the walkers." Morales said.
"You helped me out of the tank," Rick said, but Glenn shook his head.
"They were feeding then, they were distracted." He said.
"What if we make another distraction?" Rick asked. "They're drawn by sound right?"
"Right. Like dogs. They hear a sound and they come." Glenn replied.
"What else?" Rick inquired.
"Aside from they hear you, they smell you, see you. And if they catch you, they eat you." Morales said.
"They can smell us?" Rick asked.
"Well, yeah. They smell dead, we don't." Andrea replied, and then Rick had an idea.
"This has got to be one of the most dumbass plans you have ever come up with. If there was an award for dumbest plan of the year, this one would get it." Glenn said. They were gathering up gloves and long shirts. They planned to open up a walker or two, have the blood and guts on the shirts, and then go out there amongst them, while getting to the truck. Once Rick and Morales managed to quickly drag a dead walker inside, they began to cut him open. You, Rick, and Glenn planned on going out there alone. With walkers blood and guts all over you.
Rick began the process of cutting the walker up. Then, everyone began to put guts and blood all over the three of you.
You all had made it out and they didn't even know you weren't dead. That is, until it began to rain. You had been faster, but not by much, so when you felt the rain hit your face, you began to go even faster, until they knew you were alive. You kept running and going, and didn't look back until you were free of walkers. You had talked to Rick before, and told him you were going back for your bike and go bags. He knew what would happen, so you knew he would tell the others to not be worried. You got on the highway and waited for one of them to come by you. You told them both exactly where your bike was, and that you would follow whichever came to you first back to the group. You somehow had managed to miss the car that Rick had, so you waited for Glenn to appear. And appear he did. In a beautiful red car. That had an alarm going off. Classy, you thought. You quickly sprung into action and followed after him, matching the speed he was at. You looked over and grinned at him, seeing the awestruck look on his face.
