Yongnuo YN560-II Flash Speedlite Review
I have been in the market for a powerful flash for a while now. I’ve been doing a lot of apartment photography for a website, and I needed a good flash. I was eyeing the Canon 580 EX II and the newer 600 RT, but they are slightly above my budget (500 & 600 euros). So I looked for an alternative, and what I found came by surprise on a photography blog that I like to follow Eric Kim’s Blog.
I enjoy his interviews with different photographers and his own tips on street photography; if you’re interested in learning more about the subject, I highly suggest his site. One day, I was taking a look at the equipment section out of curiosity. I found that he was using this flash that looked like some cheap Chinese knock-off of the Canon 580 EX II. Turns out he was praising it. So after looking it up on Amazon.fr, and finding only good or positive reviews, I decided to make the jump. I could not be happier. The model is indeed all manual, which I find is a much better way to control your light anyways, but looks and feels pretty solid. I have been using it for a few months now professionally, and I am very satisfied with this flash. At only 80 euros, I really can’t complain. I’m even thinking about getting a second one eventually - and the wireless trigger to go with.
