You got the message by sunrise.
A simple text from Sakurazawa, saying one thing: "There's been an attack. Come home."
It had taken barely a moment to pack your things and get on the earliest train back to the Kagemori estate.
All the while, you were desperately trying not to cry. It was unbecoming of you to fall apart so easily. You were meant to be calm, cool, and collected. Not bursting into tears at the moment you got word of an attack on your home.
The gates are imposing as always as you step out of your taxi and listen to the rumble of the engine as the driver drives off. You are about to approach the gate when you hear another car and turn to see the family car and Gonzo peeking his head out of the window with a wave. He calls your name, and you step aside so the car can approach the gate without issue. "How was the train ride back, my dear?" He asks and beckons you to join him in the car. "It was fine. Just a bit long." You say as you do so, and immediately, your eyes are drawn to the man in the car whom you don't recognize.
He's of average height, with dark hair and eyes. He nods in a friendly greeting, but your eyes narrow with clear distrust. "Now, now, my dear, no reason to be so cold!" Gonzo soothes, and you roll your eyes but relent. It's clear he doesn't trust this man either, but he can likely beat him easily enough. "Right, sorry. It's been a long day already." You say wearily and rub at your eyes as you pull your weapons bag onto your lap. The gates open, and the car pulls around through the barrier and into the heart of the Kagemori estate.
The damage is… Intense to say the least. But you can see Hikaru already preparing to fix things when you step out of the vehicle to see another face you don't recognize. But it's easy enough to understand just who he is as you take in all the information available to you.
He's young, about Asa's age, and has matching crimson eyes. His hair is the color of sunlight, and he sits beside her as though having a conversation of some sort.
So this is the other half of the twin legend.
You can tell for sure because of his Daemons: two tall and imposing beings who watch you with scrutinizing gazes. You avert your eyes, and your shoulders sag when you spot Jin. He's injured, but otherwise okay. His eyes meet yours, and before you can say anything, he gives an almost imperceptible shake of the head.
"Later." His eyes say, and you sigh.
But before long, you are crushed in a tight hug, and your weariness disappears with a smile across your face. "Are you alright, Asa?" You ask, and she nods, burying her face in the crook of your neck. "I've been talking with my brother." She mumbles, and you look to see the blond boy watching you with shock and caution.
You pat Asa's back, and she lets go, giving you the ability to bow to the boy and his Daemons. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. Asa has told me about you, young man." You say, hiding a smile as the boy begins to panic at your show of respect. The Daemon on the right puts his hand on the boy's head and pushes him into a matching bow. "'Tis our honor to meet you." The one on the left says as she bows her head.
"Who is the new person?" Yuru asks as you decline the offer for a meal and instead claim to go 'unpack your things'. He watches as you step out of the room and head down the hall.
Surprisingly, Dera answers, as he leans over and whispers in Yuru's ear. "They are the Kagemori sharpshooter. That's all I know." He says, and Yuru frowns. "Sharp… shooter…?" He mumbles, confused at the term. Asa hears the whispering and answers. "They can hit things really far away with their bow and arrows!" She chirps, and Yuru perks up then.
Bow and arrows? Perhaps he could see who the better shot was!
Jin seemingly noticed his thought process and shook his head. "They don't take well to challengers. You'd lose anyway." He says gruffly, and before Yuru can say much, breakfast arrives.
You don't see anyone for hours. Instead, you take your time unpacking your clothes and, of course, cleaning your arrowheads of blood and viscera.
In your haste to get home, you hadn't had much time to yourself to clean your weapons.
The door to your room slides open, and you look up.
It's Jin.
He limps inside, favoring his injured leg, but the tenseness in his shoulders relaxes as he collapses onto your shared futon. "How are your injuries? Sakurazawa told me you got hurt fighting the other twin." You ask, and he lets out a grunt that tells you everything you need to know.
When he doesn't say much else, you arch an eyebrow and turn to face him completely.
He's asleep.
Figures. With the attack and also his plan to try and capture the male twin, he must've not had much sleep.
You huff goodnaturedly and stand, gently setting your weapons aside and changing quickly into your pajamas before sliding in beside your lover. His eyelashes flutter as you pluck his glasses from his face and fold them, setting them beside the futon. He grumbles as you brush your fingers over his face, smoothing out the wrinkles between his brows.
"That tickles." He grunts, and you hide a smile as his tired eyes open to meet yours. "Sorry, my love, I just missed you." You whisper, and he sighs. "I missed you too." He mumbles, face half buried in the pillow, and you laugh. "You missed me or your pillow?" You tease, and your laughter brightens the room as he turns his half-hearted glare onto you.
But you can tell he doesn't mean it.
He never means his anger or brusqueness when it comes to you.
Things not pictured:
-A shooting contest between the reader and Yuru.
(Might actually end up writing that because it sounds fun. BUT I am not allowed to use bows nor arrows, so I don't have a lot of experience/I'd have to do a lot of research.)
