YogaBeat in Regent Park!
I have a meeting with YogaBeat on Monday! I've been sick with some weird digestive thing, which I think is a virus of some sort (sigh), so I had to cancel my first meeting with them and I felt like it may have reflected badly on me. Also, they asked me if I could do a few energy exchange shifts for them in the evenings but I just can't between work and the workshop I'm doing and getting ready for Peru. I'm worried because this program means a lot to me to get involved with, it's the whole reason I took yoga teacher training, so I don't want them to think I'm irresponsible or not committed because I totally am!
YogaBeat is a yoga studio based out of Regent Park in Toronto, a neighbourhood that is predominantly new immigrants and lower income households. They offer by donation, pay what you can or free yoga classes on the main floor and dance classes at the same "rate" on the upper floor. They believe that yoga should be accessible to as many people as possible regardless of income. So cool, no?! If you want to get involved the email address is on their website (theyogabeat.ca) and I know for a fact that they are looking for energy exchange people (you work a certain amount of hours and get free yoga classes in return). I plan on doing that once I get back in May and hopefully, fingers crossed, I get to teach there one day! If you have any questions I'd suggest emailing them but feel free to send me a message and I'll answer what I can for you:) Wish me luck!
Thanks for reading.
