Hey! <3<3 How are you? 🌈 ☀️
Happy now that I've received a message from you 🥰 How have you been?
I'm really feeling for you right now 😔 Much love and hugs from me 💝💝💝
Thank you 😞😞😞😞 I’m trying to calm down and reach out to everyone who tried to help me feel better.
Okay but Jacek Yerka
Hi! :D
His works are quite extraordinary, aren’t they? You probably know at this point that I’m a huge art enthusiast, but quite frankly I’m not usually very crazy about contemporary art, but Yerka’s paintings have this surreal, imaginative and oniric touch that I really fancy. I love how he combines the animal and plant motifs with the motif of home, or adds other crazy stuff. I mean, aren’t those amazing?
There’s so much symbolism in this one (the painting is called Nauka chodzenia, i.e. Walking lesson) that a person can come up with multiple various interpretations, and I love playing with the symbols present in artworks and trying to build my own understanding of its meaning.
“Dragon’s pleasure”. This just looks so great. Some of his paintings feel to me like a throwback to the childhood years, when you would look up at the sky, see some crazy shaped clouds and think “is this more of a sheep or an angry crocodile?”.
This one is called “Do not slam the door”. Honestly, so thought-provoking!
To be honest, I’m not surprised that you never heard of Jacek Yerka before, he isn’t super popular in Poland either - at least to my knowledge, he definitely gets not as much attention as, let’s say, Beksiński (who is also great! his paintings are very grim though). Which is a shame, really! And apparently there are some minor problems with an access to his paintings because Yerka tends to work slowly, he is obsessed with the tiniest details, and as a results he usually creates less than 20 paintings (6-8 acrylics, 10 pastels, plus several sketches and drawings).
What’s interesting is that he, although brought in a very artistic family, didn’t initially intend to continue the family’s profession and wanted to study astronomy or medicine! One year before his finals Yerka changed his mind, though, and then joined academy of arts. :)
His early artistic influences were painters like Bosch, Bruegel, Durer, Cezanne and van Eyck. In his own words, however, his biggest inspirations, especially post the 1980s, are as such:
My greatest source of inspiration is always (and I bet will be) my childhood souvenirs – that places, remembered feelings, fragrances and technique of 1950s . You can see it in : Between Heaven and Hell, Attack at dawn, Summer in the city, Paradise in the yard or Halloween.
Other group of my works is inspired by dreams: New Age Manhattan, Metropolis, Sonnet, Strawberry tree, Cathedral, Swimming lesson. My often trips and stays at Polish countryside also became inspiring and resulted in a series of “rustical” themes – Amok harvest, Space barn, Express package, Jalousie, Full bowl. (x)
I found out that you can buy some of his paintings, the price varies from 450 euros to about 600 euros. Not too bad, I’d say! :D
JESSSSS I've missed you when I was gone
