It'd be nice if people stopped considering Yuri!!! On Ice as LGBT+, and adding the anime in LGBT+ recommendations.

Like, that shit ain't LGBT+; it's a shameless bait for fujoshis, and its creator, Mitsurou Kubo, is a fujoshi too.

Saw someone on Twitter shared that Phi//chit's name in the storyboard was "Non-chan" We thought it was from his last name Chu//la//nont at first, which is cute, even though Thai people don't call others by their last names. I didn’t like it from the very beginning but I wanted to know what’s the fuss all about so I watched it and damn I tried to like it but I couldn’t, I will never understand why people love yoi that much plus I think the plot was so poor and weird? They like fell in love instantly, Victor left his life behind for “the love of his life” that he didn’t even know? And that’s it? Gimme a slow burn “gay” romance not….that

ARE YOU ME?? you took the words out of my mind! It wasn’t well paced at.all! Viktor just straight up called Yuuri a pig,fat, blah blah but wait, it was true love! Nobody would have given a damn if Yuuri/Viktor was a girl. they’d probably complain that the show had forced romance in it. But it was all forgiven cause there was a canon gay couple. Lmao, some people even said that this is how gay romances should be done, there were thousands of discourse why it was perfect and I couldn’t believe it.  And yes, slow burn where they atleast get to know each other before falling in love, and you’re so damn right. Two boys fall in love without even learning about each other, truly phenomenal love story. This is exactly how romances should be done -_-

since youre back and in action again, i was wondering what you thought about yoi hate? (about the show itself, not victuuri) ive seen a lot of people getting really pissy about it and i wanted to hear your take on the topic

Yes, come to me with all the discourse. I fully welcome it, honestly. A lot of fans view YOI with rose-colored lenses, which I think is the case with a lot of fandoms. The show has a lot of issues, some of which I’ve touched on here, some not so much.I think criticism of YOI as a show is a good thing. When things like this become popular and reach larger audiences, criticisms become few and far between in larger fan spaces. The major thing people address when mentioning why they like YOI is, clearly, victuuri, or gay representation in media. While that is huge, and definitely a good thing, those same people tend to ignore the fact that it is a sports anime, not romance. When talking about YOI as a whole, and how it contends with other shows in its genre, it doesn’t exactly meet the right standards in my opinion. Actually, the best YOI episode is the one that features no figure skating at all. YOI was very clearly a rushed, passion project. There is so much in the series that just seemed to be.. packed in there without any spacing or transition. It gives you a huge cast of characters but never tells you why you should be rooting for them. I have a lot of problems with how certain scenes were handled, or how the pacing in certain episodes ruined potentially good scenes, and not to mention how I feel about the first and last few episodes. (*cough* and kubo *cough*) This kind of went off topic but to summarize, I agree completely with many anti YOI people, and think criticism of the series, and especially it’s fandom, is necessary.
