Thinking again about the stark contrast between the ice ado trailer and the og promo image…
The stark difference between 16 or 17 year old Viktor out in the cold winter by the ocean, his only companion with him, that big blue scarf fluttering in the strong wind, both of them nearly going under in the cold blue seaside.
And the contrast of a 17 year old Viktor skating onto his first olympic ice, to give the performance of (most peoples) a lifetime, he’s shaking a bit and genuinely excited, but you can also see how he’s wearing a mask, one that isn’t fully formed and mastered yet, but the real excitement we can see is simply slipping out from beneath it.
It’s warmer then the beach, but it’s also a performance, we can’t really see Viktor beneath the mask like we could at that beach, he is simultaneously happier and faker than at that beach.
He isn’t Viktor Nikiforov out there, but he isn’t the living legend yet either, he’s at his crossroad and we know where it will go, but he dosen’t know yet.
