Yolanda Moreno Armitage was born to a lovely Spanish mother and a terrible British father; Mr. Armitage was in fact so awful, that Yolanda didn't even miss him when her mother finally killed him, and even helped cover up the crime. Much preferring her mother's female Italian and Latina "companions", Yolanda spent the rest of her childhood and adolescence loved, and schooled in brujería, stregoneria/stregheria, and other forms of witchcraft. Using her knowledge to her advantage, she made her way by performing spells for people and selling charms, and soon became fairly influential in her community, albeit in a rather hush-hush way. She found love many times, though these romances never lasted–some passed away naturally or due to "mysterious circumstances", some she simply became divorced from. Still, she had a good few children from many of these love affairs, and eventually became a grandmother as well.

Though obviously not producing any heirs, she brought her family along with her, and Primo happily accepted the children and grandchildren as his own; in turn, Yolanda has fit right in with the Emeritus family, who love having her around. While not afraid to use dark magic (or regular physical means) to deal with any "problems" and generally being a no-nonsense type of woman with little patience for bullshit, Yolanda is also a deeply loving person; her family, and a few of her ex spouses and lovers, maintain close relationships with her and love her dearly. She is confident in herself, her looks, her brain, her abilities, and knows her worth. She also encourages others to do the same, and has taken more than a few outcasts under her wing, and even into her home–a young, newly independent Cassie Beck being one of them. Outcasts are her favourite type of people, as she is one herself–being a witch, a killer, a goth, very much non-Christian, and a frequently single mother. She also loves nature, and easily finds magic in the mundane.
A cool, clever, conniving, and sexy woman, Yolanda aims to enjoy life and her "golden years", while keeping her loved ones close and protected. Unapologetically herself, she frequently inspires others to rebel against what is expected of them by "normal" society, and instead follow their own paths, just as she always has–it ended up working out well for her, after all, so why not them too?
