Ramblings: Quickplay Shenanigans
As a support main, I very quickly learned to fear flankers. Reaper, Tracer, Genji - you call it. I did also learn to defend myself, though to be honest 8 out of 10 times I’ll get picked up.
So I developed another tactic.
I just played Mercy on Eichenwalde Defense. The red team had pushed the payload past the big gate, though they couldn’t quite make it past the second corner.
Anyways, I was in the back, flying from teammate to teammate, healing, boosting, when suddenly the enemy Genji manages to slip past our tanks. I tried to run, but he had already spotted me and followed me all the way back to the small hallway just behind the throne. Of course I could have pulled out my handgun in an attempt to kill him, but I decided against it.
Instead I stopped and popped the “Hello” emote. Genji is right in front of me, looks at me and hesitates, then after a few moments he emotes back.
I’m relieved that he spared me, though I do not trust him to not suddenly jump at me again and just in that instant my team’s Junkrat comes around the corner, killing Genji instantly with his bombs and C4.
I did feel bad for Genji - after all he had trusted me enough to greet me. It kind of felt like I betrayed him.
Genji, if you read this, I’m sorry!
