Jageun was happy to have settled in in Seoul. It was a beautiful city, and he was glad his sister had gitten her start as a singer. He was still hoping for a chance of his own, but right now, he was fine with his barista job. His hair was pink today, styled about his head while he worked to make the orders that came in. Lunch rush had died diwn and it was mostly clean up, Jageun wiping down the counter and humming to himself as he went about his day.
Yoochan struggled to put on foot in front of the other. It had been a long day and the lyricist he was working with refused to compromise on the lyrics of the song they were working on. He sighed as he turned down the music in his headphones as he entered the coffee shop down the street from his apartment.
Jageun had finished wiping everything down and wa waiting when the door opened. He smiled in a friendly way as he moved to the register. “Hello!” He greeted. “What can I get for you, today?”
Yoochan moved to the front of the store and blinked at the menu before order his usual. “Yeah. Can I get just get an Americano, no extra espresso?” He pushed his bangs out of his face and pulled his wallet from his back pocket.
Jageun recognized the other from past visits, but he was usually sharing the shift. He nodded and rang up the order. “It’s Yoochan, right?” He asked, tilting his head a little.
“Yeah.” Yoochan raised and eyebrow and glanced at the name tag quickly. “Jageun? That’s an unusual name.” Yoochan shifted through the bills and placed the money next to the register. He smiled and really wished he had his coffee so he could have the energy to get back to his apartment. “Do you mind if I sit here for a while and drink my coffee? It’s been a long day and I don’t feel like I can walk right now.”
Jageun looked away with a quiet chuckle. “Yeah, my parents named my sister and I in an unsual way.” He answered. He turned to make the coffee, pausing at the question. “Yeah, sure. If you want to sit down, I can bring it to you?” He offered, giving a faint little smile. “It’s not busy, so I don’t mind at all.”
“That’d be great.” Yoochan replied before making his way to the table in the corner of the shop and sitting down. He put his headphones back in and placed is head on his arms, closing his eyes with a soft sigh. He opened them briefly to look back up at the counter and silently fell asleep.
Jageun hadn’t seen the other look so worn out before, which worried the little nymph. He didn’t often remember regulars daily demeanor, but he supposed seeing Yoochan so clearly exhausted startled him. He finished the ciffee and moved to take it over to the other. “Here you go. Anything else I can do for you?”
Yoochan startled awake as his phone rang. He blinked in his surroundings and looked down at his phone and groaned before looking up and seeing the barista, Jageun, with his coffee. “Sorry what was that?” He asked, flipping his phone over and taking the earbuds out of his ears. The phone sounded again and Yoochan unlocked it quickly replying to the numerous messages chiming in from his lyricist.
Jageun chuckled a little as the other seemed to wake up. “You seem really tired today. Everything alright?” he asked, tilting his head as he watched Yoochan. There were few people that truly caught Jageun’s eye, but he was a caring person by nature, something in part to his genetics. Seeing the other reply on his phone, he tilted his head again, watching him. “Work stuff?”
Yoochan smiled sheepishly. “Yeah. Some people don’t understand what a compromise is.” He took a drink from his coffee and slid his phone into his back pocket. He pushed his chair back, subtly observing Jageun as he did so. “Thanks for bringing this to me. See you some other time.” Yoochan said motioning towards his coffee and making his exit, hurrying back towards his company’s building.
Jageun gave a reassuring smile. “Don’t work too hard, you can get sick if you don’t take care of yourself.” he said, reaching to lay a hand on Yoochan’s shoulder for a minute, hoping the other got some time to rest. He nodded as Yoochan stood. “Naturally. Bye, Yoochan.” he waved as the other left, smling a little to himself. He knew Dal was going to give him hell, but what were sisters for? He went about the rest of his shift, gathering his things to head out.
Yoochan hurried back to the little shop. It was late and he was pretty sure it was closed but he had to see if he had dropped an earbud inside. He rushed up to the door and groaned at the ‘CLOSED’ sign. He rolled his eyes at himself and passed by on his way to his apartment.
Jageun was last employee to leave, and was turning to close the door when he spotted a familiar figure. “Yoochan?” he called, a little surprised. “Yoochan!” he called a little louder, waving despite the other’s back being to him.
Yoochan spun so fast he almost toppled over. “Oh thank God. Did you see an earbud in there by the table I sat at?” He spoke panic over his missing earbud and relief that someone was at the shop mixing in his words. He jogged up to the other as he spoke, a silent plea in his eyes. “Did you?”
Jageun jolted a little when the other almost fell, eyes widening for a second before he sighed quietly in relief when Yoochan didn’t fall. “Another customer brought one over not long after you left. My manager is still inside, I can go grab it.” he assured with a smile. “Wait here.” Unlocking the door, he went back inside and grabbed the earbud, repeating a goodbye to his manager and heading back out. Locking the door back, he turned to show Yoochan the earbud. “I figured if you didn’t come back, you’d be by tomorrow like always for your usual.” he explained, a faint blush on his cheeks at the admission he knew Yoochan was a frequent customer. “Are you headed home?”
“I could kiss you.” Yoochan exclaimed as Jageun came back out of the store holding his earbud. Yoochan quickly took it and placed it in the case before tucking the case safely in his bag. “Coffee helps keep me focused on my music. It also happens to keep me from throwing papers and my new lyricist.” He spoke with a shrug, ignoring the pink dusting the other’s freckle decorated cheeks. He readjusted his bag on his shoulder and looked back at Jageun. “Yeah, it’s not far, you?
Jageun blushed darker at the exclamation, unable to keep from smiling. Yoochan was indeed attractive, but he didn’t think he should say anything about the kiss comment. “You’re a songwriter?” he asked, adjusting his anime bag as he watched the other. “Yeah, my sister and I live about six blocks over.” he pointed in the direction Yoochan had been headed. “Can I walk with you?”
“More like producer but yeah.” Yoochan shrugged and turned his phone on do not disturb as it went off. “Yeah sure. That’s about how far I live from here too.” Yoochan started walking again. “Do you think we could live in the same building?” Yoochan meant it as a joke but as he thought about it it was very possible.
“It must be busy. My sister’s got a lot going on right now with her comeback, but she likes her team.” Jageun mused. He shrugged. “Maybe? I mean, it’s a real possibility. The cafe is just close enough for me to walk to and it pays well.” he explained, walking in step with the other. “Dal says I don’t have to work, but I wanna pull my own weight, y’know?”
“Your sister’s a performer?” Yoochan asked surprised at the chance of it but if his sister looked anything like Jageun it wasn’t a stretch. His face dropped at the mention helping family out. “I know what you mean. I moved here from my hometown because I felt like I wasn’t pulling my weight for my parents.” Yoochan looked down, remembering just how hard he and his habits had been on his parents. “Anyway, why work at the coffee shop? I’m sure there are better paying jobs close by.”
“Yeah!” Jageun said, eyes lighting up. “Dal Byeol, do you know her?” he asked. He tucked the hand not holding his bag strap into his pocket, smiling as he talked about his sister. “My sister and I live for music. Our parents were gone a lot, so music became our friend. We moved here to be trainees about three years ago, but Dal got her big break first. She’s doing really well now.” he explained. Hearing the question, he shrugged. “I mean, at first, it was just the first place that hired? But I like the people. The owner is a nice woman and the staff is almost like a family. We go to concerts and stuff together all the time.”
“I don’t think I have but I can look into her.” Yoochan paused at the crosswalk while Jageun talked. Jageun seemed to love his sister almost as much as he loved music. Yoochan listened as Jageun continued to talk about his job and the friends he had because of it. He reminded himself he did actually have friends here but his mood still fell. “You know if you’re still interested in being a trainee you could record he demo for the track I’m working on. I’ve been trying to find someone who has the time but can’t.” Yoochan continued, motioning to his bag with his thumb. “I have I show the track to my boss for approval anyway. It’s all here in my bag if you want to try.”
“I have all of her group’s stuff, being a supportive brother and all.” Jageun laughed, reaching up to run a hand through his hair. He enjoyed life here, loved being able to be himself, and with music, he was never really alone. Hearing the offer, he gave a little gasp, eyes widening. “Wait, really?” he asked, beaming excitedly and reaching for Yoochan’s hand. “I’d love to!”
Yoochan instinctively pulled his hand back. “Yeah, um, we can start tonight if you’re free.” Yoochan said trying to keep from talking about Jageun’s attempt at physical contact. People touching him never worked out well and he wasn’t ready to have that follow him to Seoul. “Are you free?”
Jageun paused at Yoochan pulled away, and the nymph tilted his head. “I’m sorry. I get excited and sometimes forget some people don’t like being touched.” he apologized, blushing. “But anyway, I’m free now. I just have to let Dal know where I’m gonna be.” he explained, nodding.
“No need to be embarrassed.” Yoochan said as he watched pink bloom on the other’s face. “I’m just around the corner here. Make sure to let your sister know you’re close and that she can come too if she doesn’t trust me alone with you.” Yoochan responded, knowing how siblings could be.
Jageun smiled at him. “I should have asked, is all. It’s a bad habit that I’ve always had. I get excited and I just want other people to share that feeling.” He reached up to run a hand through his hair nervously. Recognizing where they were, he grinned. “Hey! I live two buildings over!” he mused happily, pointing. “We live over by the pool. So whenever you need demo stuff, I can come over.” He was pulling his phone out to message his sister, letting her know he was fine and where he was. Sliding his phone back into his pocket, he looked back at Yoochan. “Alright, lead the way.”
Yoochan walked into his building and waved at the woman at the desk clerk. “This way.” He spoke softly to Jageun as he made his way toward the elevator. Once inside Yoochan pressed the button for the top floor penthouse with a sigh, he was almost back home.
Jageun watched the other for a moment, head tilting just the slightest bit. “Hey…you okay?” he asked. “You seem really worn out today, and that’s not really normal for you?” he tried to explain his concern, licking his lips nervously. “Did you not get enough sleep or something?”
“Just a bad night is all.” Yoochan replied as the elevator chimed open to reveal his living room. He stepped out and set his bag on the couch. “You want water or anything? I have some juice too.” He asked Jageun as he walked through a doorway to the right that led to the kitchen.
Jaegun had a little trick that usually helped people feel better, but he dared not try to use it since Yoochan had already shown an aversion to touch. He followed the other inside, looking around in awe as he smiled before looking back over at where Yoochan had gone. “Water is fine, please.” he answered. “So is there somewhere specific you want to record at?” he asked, taking his bag off to set it on the couch.
Yoochan walked back in with two bottles of water. “I have a mini recording studio set up in on of the extra rooms. It’s kind of like an escape room.” He tossed a bottle to Jageun and grabbed his bag again heading toward the stairs that lead to the bedrooms. He looked back to see if Jageun was following and waved a little in an excited hurry up motion. Or at least as excited as he could get.
Jageun caught the bottle with ease, nodding. “I understand that.” he agreed, moving to take a sip from the water. Leaving his bag on the couch, he followed Yoochan up to the room, looking around. “Oh wow…” he trailed off, eyes almost sparkling in excitement. “This is amazing, Yoochan.” he said, bouncing a little as he took in the area.
“It’s just something the company pays for otherwise I would’ve scaled way down.” Yoochan replied as he walked over to the studio door and unlocked it. He walked in quickly and set his computer up with the other equipment. He pulled the finalized lyrics with sheet music out of his bag and handed them to Jageun. “Read over these. You can practice in here.” Yoochan said as he opened the door to the actual recording area.
“I mean, I’d love a small studio. Even if it’s just to record covers.” Jageun mused, taking in everything as he went into the recording room. He took a moment to bounce a little as he looked around, then looked over the music. His lips moved with the words as he read the notes, and after a few tries, he went over the notes quietly before going over the rap section. “Do you have the instrumental for it?” he asked, tilting his head.
Yoochan heard the soft whispers from Jageun as the drifted through the microphone. He was pulling up the instrumental track when Jageun asked for it. The producer nodded. “Put the headphones on and I’ll play it for you.” Yoochan adjusted the volume and played the song as Jageun placed the headphones on his head.
Jageun smiled as he put the headphones on, listening to it as he read the music, quietly going over the song with a smile. He really liked it and he was glad he got a chance to sing it. He listened to the full track before nodding, understanding what needed to go where. “Alright, I think I’m ready.” he said, looking through the window to Yoochan and giving another nod. “Whenever you’re ready?”
Yoochan gave Jageun a thumbs up and started recording. As he listened to the voice drifting past the glass he felt himself fall into a trance. Jageun’s voice was beautiful, he gracefully hit the high notes and easily kept with the quick flowing raps. Yoochan found himself looking through the glass as the other sang and understood why Jageun loved music so much, he was born to be on the stage. Or at the very least behind a mic.
Music was in Jageun’s blood. It sang him through life and he didn’t hesitate to let a sing escape him if the feeling was strong enough. This song was beautiful, and he wanted it to sound good. Eyes closed as he letbhis range show, flowing with the music as he performed. When it was over, he slowly opened his eyes, waving his fingers at Yoochan as he waited for the cue that the revirding was over, fingers moving to toy with his jacket sleeves.
Yoochan shook his head when Jageun stopped singing and hit the stop button on the recording, giving the singer a thumbs up. He was stunned that the other hadn’t been scouted and recruited for a company yet. He stood and walked to the door separating the rooms. “That was amazing. How exactly haven’t you become a trainee? Can you do the backing vocals too? I mean I know it’s a little late but we can set up another time, yeah?”
Jageun smiled as the door opened, licking his lips. “I’ve had to work on my dancing. I’m a lot better now, but I just don’t think I’m trainee level yet.” He admitted, blushing as he looked away for a moment. Looking up, he grinned happily. “I work the late shift again tomorrow, so I have time. Do you have music for the backing vocals? I can totally do them!” He said excitedly, headphones at his neck as he smiled at Yoochan.
Yoocaun smiled a little at how eager Jageun was. “I think I have the music in my bag, do you want it now?” He asked pointing over his shoulder to the second chair his bag was currently sittng in. He turned to get the music but tripped over a cord that crossed along the doorway.
Jageun gasped as as Yoochan tripped, instinctively reaching to catch him, small hand wrapping around the other’s wrist. He moved to take the headphones off with his free hand. “You alright?” he asked, concern on his face as he looked at the other. “That could have been bad.”
Yoochan glared at the wire on the ground and pulled his wrist from Jageun’s grip. “Yeah, sorry. Forgot to move that once the new equipment got in a few days ago. My fault.” He made it to his bag and pulled his laptop from the back pocket. He placed it on the desk and turned it on to print out the music. “This could take a minute. Make yourself at home. You don’t have to stay in here.” He almost whispered, sitting back in his chair and tapping on his computer.
Jageun tilted his head as he watched the other, the little nymph not sure what seemed off. Maybe it was Yoochan’s being tired, but Jageun wasn’t sure he wanted to leave the other yet. Walking over he moved to sit in the other chair, pink hair falling into his face as he waited. “I don’t mind waiting. Besides, I like talking to you.”
“Oh. Okay.” Yoochan continued typing on his computer. He pulled the music up and reached across in front of Jageun to turn the printer on. He muttered a sorry as he looked Jageun and quickly brought himself away again. Yoochan put his computer in tablet mode and used the touchscreen to print the papers. He found it much easier than using the actual keyboard and mouse. As the printer started up Yoochan set his tablet back into computer mode and pointed to the printer. “They’re all yours.”
Jageun watched Yoochan work, giving a confused look as he heard the other apologize. “Don’t apologize.” He promised. He took the few moments to actually take in the other, smiling to himself. Yoochan was indeed handsome, and thus far he’d only been kind to him. It took a moment before he reached for the papers, looking them over as he sat next to the other. It was peaceful, and Jageun really hoped he was helping Yoochan’s mood; nit just over the demo but in being company. “Can we do this more often?” He asked, looking up from where he was studying the music.
“Huh?” Yoochan turned from his computer and trailed his eyes from the screen to the person sitting next to him. “I don’t know if that’s a good idea. I tend to have a bad affect on people.” He moved to return back to the email to his boss explaining he was working on recording the demo for Jae’s new song. “I typically stay to myself because of it.” He hit the send button and pushed his chair across to the new mixer he had gotten a couple of days prior.
Jageun tilted his head, looking almost like a cat. “Is that why you don’t like being touched?” he asked, watching the other. “You haven’t had any effect on me. And I like being around you.” he explained, smiling at him.
“Yeah something like that.” He continued messing with the mixer. “It isn’t instantaneous or anything like that. I takes time but at least I’m not-” He stopped and looked up at Jageun. “Never mind. Let’s just say things used to be a lot worse before I started doing music.” He suddenly began to feel dizzy. “Uh-oh.” He tried stumbling back to his chair but missed and hit the floor.
Jageun seemed confused. “No, I mean…it’s really hard for bad things to affect me?” he tried to explain without revealing what he was. “MY momsays it’s cuz I’m a literal ray of sunshine.” He laughed a little, gasping as Yoochan fell and sliding from his chair to kneel next to him. “Yoochan!” he said worriedly, moving to lay a hand on the other’s cheek. “Are you alright?” he asked, moving to sit on the floor and trying to get get Yoochan into his lap so he could check on him.
Yoochan nodded slightly but stopped and closed his eyes when his head began to spin. “It happens a lot actually.” He whispered trying to regain control over his mind. Flashes of things to come passed by his eyes in a blinding light. He opened his eyes and attempted to stand only to fall back down. “Damn, I really hate this.” He looked over at Jageun and blinked, trying to bring him into focus as another flash had him grabbing his head.
“And you’re alone when it happens?” Jageun frowned as he thought about Yoochan falling with no one to help if he got hurt. When Yoochan tried to move and fell again, Jageun reacted on instinct, reachign out to catch the other. “Hey, take it easy. Just sit for a minute, regain your senses.” he urged calmly. “Just relax, let the dizziness go away for a minute or two.” he explained, reaching out to brush some hair from Yoochan’s face, wishing he could help more. “The demo can wait a minute while you recover.”
Yoochan nodded, he felt himself losing consciousness. “Always by myself.” He muttered, subconsciously moving to hide his face in Jageun stomach as he fell asleep. When he woke up he was in the living room on the couch with a pillow under his head and a blanket thrown over him. A note was folded up on the coffee table in front of him.
“That’s not okay. What happens if you accidentally get really hurt?” Jageun asked as he watched Yoochan, smiling as he reluctantly nibbled his lower lip, gently stroking his fingers through Yoochan’s hair. After a few minutes, he moved to nudge, Yoochan when he realized the other was alseep. He moved to carefully half carry and half drag the other to the couch in the living room. It took a bit, but he managed to get Yoochan settled. He frowned as he searched for a pillow and blanket, finding one in a hall closet and carefully put the pillow under Yoochan’s head before covering him up. He smiled at how peaceful the other looked, and he hoped Yoochan felt better. He wen to his bag, pullint out a piece of paper and writing a note.
‘Hey, Yoochan! You kind of fell asleep and I moved you here. I really hope you feel better tomorrow, you kind of scared me. Text me when you wake up so I know you’re okay. xxx-xxx-xxxx Maybe we can get together tomorrow if you’re feeling better? ❤️ - Jageun’
He carefully moved to leave, locking the bottom lock and making his way home to sleep, his mind lost on the nice time he’d had with Yoochan before the strange dizzy spell the other male had had.
Yoocahn read the note while still lying down. He sat up and walked to the kitchen where he poured a glass of orange juice. He looked around for his phone and panicked a bit before remembering it was in the recording studio. He walked up the stairs and into the music room, easily spotting his phone. He opened it and sent a quick message to the number on the paper.
[To: Freckle Boy Jageun] Hey it’s Yoochan. Thanks for putting me on the couch. I appreciate it. Feel free to come by today if you’re free. Thanks again.
He followed the message with a call to his boss saying he needed the day and that he would have the demo when he returned.
Jageun was still waking up when he heard his phone go off. He felt his heart skip a beat at the tone, knowing immediately that it was Yoochan. Rolling over to grab his phone, he smiled.
[To; Channy ❤️ ]: I didn’t want to invade your privacy trying to find your room. How are you feeling? You took a bit of a fall last night. I can come by before my shift, if that’s okay?
[To: Freckle Boy Jageun]: I’m fine, it happens a lot. It’s nothing to worry about. Yeah that works, I’m staying home today. See you then.
Yoochan went to shower and change. He made his breakfast and sat down at the table to eat. It was going to be a long day with a splitting headache but he was going to muddle through. He headed to the recording room and began to set it up for later that day.
[To; Channy ❤️]: How often is a lot? You can always let me know when they start and I can come over.
[To; Channy ❤️]: Alright, cool. I’ll be there in a few.
He moved to get out of bed, smiling as Dal as she looked up from her coffee. “Morning, sis.”
“How late did you get in?”
“Not too late. Yoochan had a rough day so he fell asleep. We’re gonna finish up the demo today.” Jageun said. “He’s so sweet, Dal. He’s been coming to the shop for a while now.”
“Wait, the cute one you’ve been telling me about?” Dal grinned, setting her cup down. “Look at you go, finding a boyfriend.”
“Dal!” Jageun blushed at the words, biting his lip. “I’m…we’re not…y’know…together or anything.”
“Jag, even I hear the missing word at the end of that.” she teased. “You headed over?”
“Yeah, I’m gonna work on the demo with him some more before work.” he answered, going to kiss her cheek. “I’ll let you know how it goes.” He went to grab a uniform, walking over to Yoochan’s and knocking on the door.
Yoochan almost didn’t didn’t hear the knock on his door as he sat in his room. He sat up and looked around for a bit. Hearing the knock again he headed downstairs. When he opened the door and smiled a reluctant smile. “Morning.” He stepped aside to let the other in. “Hope you’ve had a good day so far.” He turned and led Jageun to the recording room.
Jageun couldn’t help but grin as Yoochan opened the door. “Morning.” he said, adjusting his bag. “Are you feeling better?” he asked as he walked in, setting his bag on the couch as he turned to follow the other. “I’m sorry if your hall closet was messed up at all. I tried not to mess anything up while I got you the pillow and stuff.” he explained.
Yoochan gave a confused look. “I never look in there anyway, it’s fine.” He settled down in his chair. “And yeah, I’m fine. I guess you could say it’s genetics.” He turned to his computer making his back face Jageun. “Are you ready or do you need sometime to look over it?”
“Well, I guess it’s a good thing there was a blanket in it.” Jageun laughed a little as he moved to sit down, picking up the music and smiling at it. He wanted to try and spend a little more time with Yoochan, both drawn to the other as much as he was curious. “The offer still stands to call me when one starts to hit. I can come over and keep an eye on you.” he said, going over the music in his head. “I think I’m good. You ready?” he asked, not really in a rush since he had plenty of time before work.
Yoochan nodded. “I’ll try next time but no promises. I don’t like being like that around other people.” He looked at Jageun and for the first time noticed a pale pink glow around him. “You’re not human are you?” Yoochan stared for a minute and thought. Now that he thought about it he didn’t have a headache like he normally did after a vision. He was confused and didn’t know what to think. He continued, curiously sliding his chair forward a bit. “What are you and why are you glowing pink?”
“I would rather you be like that than get hurt when you collapse,” Jageun countered with a sheepish smile, looking back at his music before his eyes blinked in surprise. How did he-? The thought was cancelled as he asked about a glow. “You’re a nymph, too, aren’t you?” he asked. “My mom says only other nymphs can see my light. I’ve always had a pinkish glow, but only other nymphs can see it.” The thought actually made his heart jump a little. “I’m a rainbow nymph, which sounds odd, but eh, it’s what I am. Though I don’t get any real perks. It’s hard for negative things to get to me, though. Like I can still be sad and scared, but day to day negativity hardly ever effects me.” He realized he was rambling and looked down with a red blush over his cheeks. “I…I’m sorry. I kind of rambled there…”
Yoochan was shocked. He listened a chuckled locked in his chest as Jageun rambled on. “You’re fine, you should hear the people I work with when they get excited about something.” He pushed his chair back, trying to formulate his explanation. “I’m sort of a nymph. A shadow nymph. I can manipulate darkness and shadows. It also comes with the down side of being able to negatively influence other people’s thoughts. It wouldn’t be a problem if I could control it but I can’t.” He decided he would leave out what caused his fainting spells, he even didn’t understand how exactly that worked. “It just annoying. Most days I end up working from home to keep from causing anything at work on accident.” He moved his chair around to face his computer. “Ready?
Jageun listened, smiling at him. “Maybe it take spractice of some kind?” he asked. “I can sometimes make moods better, but I haven’t mastered it yet. Dal is better at her tricks.” he mused, he scooted his chair closer. “Well, I trust you. And I’m pretty sure being a rainbow nymph keeps me immune to the dark thoughts thing.” Moving to get up, he headed to the room, picking up the heaphones and giving Yoochan a thumbs up with a big smile. He was learning about the other and he enjoyed getting close to him.
Yoochan’s heart raced as Jageun moved closer to him and him found himself a little disappointed when the other moved away into the recording room and prayed it didn’t show on his face. He cleared his throat and gave Jageun a thumbs up before starting the music. Much like the previous night Yoochan lost himself in Jageun’s voice, loving the way it flowed so easily with the music. He stopped the music as the track ended. Yoochan walked to the door and leaned on the frame. “Do you want to try another take and compare?”
Jageun knew the lyrics, and somehow, it seemed odd that he would be singing them in such a unique situation. He knew he’d had a crush on Yoochan for a while, and getting to know him the last couple of days had been nice. He really hoped the other would let him keep coming around after the demo was done. He wanted to make Yoochan smile, even a little bit. He looked up as Yoochan opened the door, grinning. “Do I get to stay longer if I say yes?” he asked, hoping it didn’t sound too straightforward.
Yoochan let a low chuckle escape his lips as he responded. “Well, yeah. You need to be here to do the recording, don’t you?” Yoochan moved inside to look at the music over Jageun’s shoulder. He pulled back and nodded his head, impressed. “You really did that in one take. Why do you want to stay?” He turned to head out of the recording room, making sure not to trip over any cords this time.
“I mean, sure. Can’t record without a vocal.” Jageun grinned as Yoochan got closer, fighting the urge to lean back into the other nymph. He really actually liked the way being around Yoochan made him feel. IT wasn’t bad, but it felt…comfortable. Almost like home. He adjusted to look at the other and smiled. “I’ve been singing since I was little. I have perfect pitch.” he said proudly, grinning. He followed the other out of the room. “If I can? I like being around you.” he admitted, fiddling with the sleeves of his jacket as he moved to sit in the chair he’d occupied the night before.
Yoochan sat down in his chair and began fiddling with the track. “You’re more than welcome to stay, I guess. I’m staying home all day today so it’s not like you’d be here alone or anything.” He said absentmindedly, fingers tapping away at his keys and clicking his mouse. “Do you want any food or anything? I can go grab it for you.” Yoochan asked only partially paying attention.
Jageun moved to cross his legs, small enough to fit in the chair that way as he scooted it closer by using the table. He was quiet as he watched the other work, eyes shifting to watch Yoochan’s face as he focused. “You don’t have to get it for me, but maybe show me where it is? I don’t want to bother you while you’re working.” he offered.
Yoochan shook his head slightly. “It’s not a big deal, I can get it.” He stood up and looked at Jageun. “You wanna come with me?” He asked, stopping in the door to ask. Without waiting for an answer, he walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. He reached in the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water for Jageun and poured himself a glass of orange juice. He set the cup down on the counter and moved to grab an apple when he heard footsteps and looked up. “I didn’t expect you to follow. Also,” Yoochan took a drink of his orange juice, pointing to the elevator in the living room behind Jageun. “You can just use the elevator if you want. It drops you right into the living room or right into the lobby, whichever way you’re going. I can give you my code.”
Jageun got up and followed, smiling as he joined Yoochan. “I don’t mind the stairs. Though they were slightly difficult last night.” he chuckled as he remembered trying not to fall while he carried an unconscious Yoochan to the couch. “But it might help in case you pass out on me again.” He moved to hop up on the counter, watching Yoochan curiously. “You’re part psychic, right?” he asked. “I’ve been thinking about reasons you would pass out like that with a headache. I don’t know a whole lot about psychics, but I know sometimes they can have different types of episodes where they go unconscious. Is it like that?”
Yoochan paused, apple almost at his mouth. “You have no idea how close you are.” He mumbled to himself. He turned his gaze back to Jageun. “I was actually talking about the elevator to the penthouse from the lobby but there is an elevator to get upstairs. I never use it though, I prefer the stairs.” He bit int his apple and motioned to the fruit in a bowl sitting on the counter. “Help yourself. Nothing’s poisoned or anything.” He tossed the bottle to Jageun and used the bar at the bottom of his bar stools to climb on top of one of them. He patted the stool next to him. “Join me.”
Jageun blushed a little. “I mean, maybe once we know each other better I’ll use it. I don’t want to just barge in.” he explained. Reaching for an orange, he grabbed his water bottle and hopped from the counter to sit next to Yoochan, peeling the orange. “Tell me about it? I wanna know about you.” He said, eyes watching Yoochan as he popped a piece of orange into his mouth, licking his lips as the juice spilled over his lips.
Yoochan found his eyes drifting to Jageun lips and watching as Jageun licked the juice from them. He shook his head slightly to focus himself. “I don’t really know much about it myself. I just know I have visions.” It wasn’t a total lie. He didn’t know much about it as an orphan but he just didn’t want to tell Jageun he was a psychic. Most people expected him to read their futures and that, he knew, was not how his powers worked. “I happens a lot actually. The funniest time was when I fell down the stairs.” He chuckled a little at the memory. “I had to stay home for a while.”
Jageun hummed as he ate another piece of fruit. “Well, I don’t like the idea of you getting hurt when you have one.” He said, looking at the pieces of orange for a moment with a faint blush painting his cheeks. “Maybe we can find a way to help you when you have one? Like a certain tea or scent that helps.” He was blatantly oblivious to the fact he’d healed Yoochan in any way, thinking to himself. “What kind if scents help you relax?”
Yoochan shrugged. “I don’t know.” He really didn’t, not that he was even paying attention. His eyes were focused on Jageun’s lips again, wondering if they would taste like orange now or if they would taste differently. “I don’t,” He paused feeling a bit dizzy and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. “I don’t really-” He stopped as images flashed across his eyes. He stepped down from the stool and stumbled a little as he moved to the couch in the living room. He was confused because he never had visions so close together before. He stumbled again, running into the door frame. “Couch.”
Jageun sensed the change this time, attuned to the other better now than before. “Uh oh.” he hopped down and immediately moved to wrap his arm around Yoochan’s back and guide him to the couch. “Hey, easy now.” he coaxed, trying to keep Yoochan focused enough. “I’m right here.” he promised, moving to kneel next to the couch as he held Yoochan’s hand. “Breathe, Yoochan. You’re alright.”
Yoochan blinked slowly, trying to decipher the images he was seeing but distracted by a scent that drew him in so much his eyes just closed. The images flashed faster and Yoochan began to feel sick at what he was seeing, it was horrid. His hand moved on it’s own reaching for Jageun’s so he could pull the rainbow nymph closer. The images stopped and Yoochan felt like his head was going to explode as he opened his eyes again. When he opened them he squinted at the sunlight coming in from the glass door that led to the balcony. The next the he noticed was that he had pulled Jageun into his lap. His eyes widened and he spoke but didn’t want to touch Jageun again so he didn’t try to move the other nymph. “I’m so sorry.”
Jageun blinked a little as he was urged into Yoochan’s lap, but he didn’t fight, not wanting to cause any harm by mistake. His eyes had bursts of a color from around the pupils as he reached up to lay a hand on Yoochan’s cheek, unaware of the change in his eyes as Yoochan seemed to resurface. “Hey there, handsome.” he said softly, giving the other a smile. “You’re fine, you just seemed really lost, like you were looking for an anchor.” He moved his hand to touch over Yoochan’s temple. “Is your head alright?” he asked, eyes still the bursting rainbow as he worried over the halfling.
Yoochan’s eyes drifted down to Jageun’s lips again and he bit his own. “I’m…I’m fine. I’m perfectly,” He felt himself lean forward a little. “Fine.” He placed his lips softly against Jageun’s, giving him plenty of opportunity to pull back before he pressed forward more. Yoochan pulled Jageun forward to deepen the kiss when a phone ringing from upstairs caught Yoochan’s attention. He wanted to ignore it, loving the way Jageun’s lips felt against his.
Jageun blushed as he realized Yoochan was looking at his lips, licking his lips just before the other was kissing him. A low hum of approval escaped him and he went willingly to deepen the kiss, arms draping over Yoochan’s shoulders so his hands could play in Yoochan’s hair. The sound of a phone ringing made him break the kiss, resting his forehead on the other’s. “Should you answer that?” he asked, out of breath as he gently scratched at Yoochan’s head.
Yoochan shook his head and kissed Jageun again and groaned as the phone rang again. “Who the hell is that?” He practically growled, angry that the moment was ruined. Yoochan slid Jageun onto the couch beside him and stood up to make his way to his bedroom. He stormed up the stairs and slammed his bedroom door open, fuming as he pulled the landline phone from the night stand. His conversation served to calm him from his rage and let the embarrassment sink in, turning his face cherry red. When he hung up he phone he just sat on his bed, hoping to avoid Jageun until the rainbow nymph left for work.
Jageun was upset when Yoochan had to get up, but after a few minutes passed, he got up to go looking. “Yoochan?” he asked, biting his lower lip. He paused when he spotted a cracked door, knocking on it gently. “Yoochan? Are you okay?” he asked, peeking his head into the room.
Yoochan snapped his head up, hoping beyond hope that his black eyes were no longer prevalent and that they had returned to their natural dark brown. Of course it was Jageun, who else would it have been? He panicked a little and moved further back on the bed, attempting to get away from Jageun. He was unsure if the rainbow nymph wanted to be around him after what happened downstairs.
