The atmosphere was tense in the best way.
Yoonmi kept looking out the van window, checking for the familiar figure she was waiting to see. The car shook slightly as she bounced her leg, fingers going up to tug at the ends of her hair.
“Geez,” Seokjin threw one leg over her lap and pulled her hands into one of his, “were you this jittery when I was discharged?”
She wrinkled her nose at him, “I will neither confirm nor deny.”
A chuckle escaped him, “That’s such a PR answer.”
“As a Bangtan member in this media economy…” she trailed off, making both of them laugh.
As much as her eldest member was able to distract her for a bit, her attention almost immediately faded back to the gates she had purposely asked their manager to park in view of.
Having Seokjin back has been one of the best things to happen to her in 2024, especially with him visiting her on her tour and hosting her comeback live just last month. Now that she had finished the tour, the absence of the other six members was starting to fill her senses.
“Hey,” her companion’s smile was evident in his voice while his posture shifted to grab the giant bouquet next to him, “if you stop overthinking right now, you’ll notice a little someone coming.”
Her eyes widened as she turned to look out the window. A familiar smile made its way into her view, unconsciously making the corners of her lips curl up.
Hoseok had come out of the gates.
Before anyone could even process what was happening, Yoonmi had already slammed the car door open and practically teleported to Hoseok’s arms.
There was a small grunt that came from him as he held her up, wrapping her in a hug as well.
She immediately buried her face into his chest, noting how much taller he felt due to his combat boots and her lack of platform shoes. “You’re home!”
“Almost, makdungie,” he pressed a kiss to the side of her head, “I still have to say hi to Jin hyung and talk to the media first.”
“Get back here,” a third voice joined their conversation.
The confusion was obvious in her face as Seokjin grabbed her by the back of her hoodie, pulling her off of Hoseok, only for him to hug his first discharged younger brother.
“I’ll be quick, I promise,” Hoseok laughed as he hugged Seokjin, “and what are these flowers, hyung? They’re bigger than our makdungie!”
“Obviously I was going to get you something big,” Seokjin scoffed.
“Alright, alright,” Hoseok smiled at his eldest and his youngest member, “let me address the media, then we can get out of here.”
Yoonmi watched in pride as Hoseok confidently addressed the media (and with amusement at Seokjin’s antics) before being caught off guard by the prior turning to look at her.
“Also, before I end, I need to do this.” His posture immediately straightened, Seokjin stretching his arms up further to accommodate the younger member who sharply raised his fingertips to his brow. “Sergeant Jung Ho Seok reporting the successful completion of his compulsory military enlistment to Bang Yoonmi, otherwise known as Kim Yoonmi.”
A gentle smile made its way to her face, mirroring his. “You’re home.”
He looked at her, sharply bringing his hand back down before relaxing his posture.
“I’m home.”
(there were articles the next day about jin's amusing reaction of being fake annoyed that he didn't have a similar emotional moment with hobi and his appalled face upon realizing miya was riding in hobi's car rather than with him)

Yoonmi nervously looked at the five members surrounding her, all talking among themselves. Multiple conversations were happening, and she was fairly sure Taehyung was on the brink of taking Namjoon’s saxaphone from him and playing it himself when she felt someone poke her side.
Her head turned to look at the culprit, only to find Jungkook giving her a pointed look.
“Yoons,” he dragged out the end of the nickname, “you’ve got to relax. It’s not like you haven’t seen Jin hyung on his breaks or visited him at camp.”
“This is different,” she huffed at her fellow maknae. “This time, there’s no time limit. There are no military duties to uphold. There are no proper measures to follow just to see him. He’s gonna be back. For real. And it’s the start of all of you coming back.”
He gave her a smile, something she was sure was the rare sight of Jungkook and her having a serious and heartfelt moment in front of others. That wasn’t the case.
Her yelp caught the attention of the four other boys with them, making them turn to see Jungkook pulling Yoonmi into a headlock.
Jimin and Hoseok immediately started laughing and pulled out their phones to take photos and videos, while Namjoon and Taehyung just smiled.
“Yoongi hyung’s gonna feel so bad he missed this,” Jimin snickered.
Just then, the sound of camera shutters called their attention. All six members stopped what they were doing and turned to see Seokjin stepping out of the camp’s gate.
Yoonmi watched, a small smile on her face as her members approached their eldest enthusiastically, letting herself fall behind. A laugh escaped her upon Namjoon’s saxaphone playing not stopping at all once he’s gotten his Jin hug. Her laughed called the attention of the day’s star.
Her smile grew nervous as Seokjin approached her, his tall figure towering over her yet still remaining a comforting presence rather than an imposing one.
Seokjin straightened into a salute, the only thing off about his posture was his head tilted downwards at her, maintaining eye contact.
“Sergeant Kim Seok Jin reporting the successful completion of his compulsory military enlistment to Bang Yoonmi, otherwise known as Kim Yoonmi.” His serious expression slowly grew into a smile once he said her name. “I’m happy to report I came out safe and healthy, as promised.”
Yoonmi grinned at him before launching herself to hug him. Seokjin immediately broke his salute and caught her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
“You’re back,” she whispered to him, “finally! For real!”
He nodded as she made to pull out of the hug. He gently placed her back on the ground and looked at the other members.
“It’s a start,” he pinched her cheek and waved at the reporters as they started walking. “Now, I hope you won’t have any friends over tonight. I’ve already told the other six that we’re all sleeping over at yours to pry your tour details out of you.”
“And we will get the setlist by tonight if it’s the last thing I do,” Jungkook interjected.
She laughed and looked at the six boys in front of her and thought of Yoongi waiting for them back in the Hybe building.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way… Aside from the setlist. That way I can guarantee all seven of you are there!”
But it was unspoken between all of them. They wouldn’t miss her opening od her first solo tour for anything.
For miya I would like Jack in the box listing party and Miya giving jungkook a tour of Australia in more depth.
hi bub! this took quite a while, but i'm back to writing again and slowly filling out requests! for now, here's the jitb listening party, but you can look forward to the australia tour with jungkookie soon! hope you enjoy this for now~

The sounds of the music blasting reached her ears before the elevator doors could even open.
“God,” Yoonmi muttered to herself, “I can’t believe that uni made me late for a work event for the first time ever.”
She carefully smoothed out the front of her leather romper over her black button down, an outfit Jungkook had dramatically insisted on because he helped Hoseok pick the romper out for her, and stepped out of the elevator doors right before they closed once again.
Almost immediately, her eyes spotted her members all gathered together in the photo booth, seemingly scanning the room for her. Right, she had sent them her location so they could see when she arrived.
People laughed at her rushed greetings and made way for her as soon as they could hear the heels of her boots coming in their direction. Everyone knew where she was headed, and no one would be stopping her even if they wanted to.
A set of sunglasses-covered eyes met hers, but even the tinted lenses couldn’t hide the way they lit up.
“Makdungie!” Hoseok yelled out, opening his arms for a hug. “You’re here! How was traffic?”
A laugh slipped through her lips as she walked forward to give Hoseok a hug, trying to pour everything she wanted to say into the tight squeeze. You look nice. I missed you. The listening party is doing great. Sorry I missed the actual listening part of the listening party. You’re working so hard. I’m proud of you. All these thoughts, yet only some words came out. “Sorry, I’m late. Traffic was okay, but my professor held me back.”
He pushed her sunglasses up her head and did the same to his own. “What matters is you’re here. Come on, it’s your turn to take pictures with me.”
Hoseok swung an arm around her shoulders, squishing their cheeks together for their first photo. The audible ranting of Taehyung from the side about Hoseok’s audacity to steal her before she could say hi to any of the other members made the smile on her face grow even wider out of amusement. After a few changes of poses, all of them gathered together into the frame, taking a photo altogether and being sure to send a soft copy to Yoongi immediately.
It was after the photo when the entire situation sunk in. There were so many people in the room with her, and the sheer thought of having to start up conversations began to overwhelm her. It was a long day at university, fixing up certain documents she needed for the following semester.
“Stick with me,” Jungkook handed her a champagne flute and offered his arm for her to take, “and drink this. Something to warm you from the inside might help you loosen up.”
A grateful sigh came out of her, “Thanks. Can we go close to the stage? I think Hobi oppa’s dancer friends are about to pop off.”
“Say no more.”
The two maknaes excitedly walked over to the center, pleased to find dancers taking over the floor. Pretty soon, they found themselves grooving along with their motions, Taehyung and Namjoon even joining them for a bit.
A glass of beer made its way into her hand, followed by a knowing wink from Jimin. She laughed and quickly downed its contents, settling on the floor of the stage, looking directly at Hoseok as he interacted with his guests as well as danced for a while.
She noticed a glow emanating from him. No, it wasn’t a reflection of the spotlight or the other flashing lights surrounding them. Hoseok just seemed to be glowing, whether it be in satisfaction, happiness, growth, or all of the above, she wasn’t sure. It was just a nice glow that she was happy to see given how stressed out he was in the past month specifically.
Her stares didn’t go unnoticed as the object of her thoughts turned towards her, a confused look crossing his face before he smiled and sat next to her.
“Penny for your thoughts?”
“You’re absolutely glowing,” there was no hesitation in her voice, “and it’s an amazing look on you, oppa.”
He bumped her shoulder, “Thanks, Yoonmi. And thanks for coming by even though today drained you.”
“I wouldn’t miss this for the world,” she smiled at him, pleased to see his smile change to the one she only saw him use around family.
Hoseok got up, dusting his hand on his pants and offering her the drink in his hand. “Come on. If you’re up for it, I’m pretty sure Jessi nuna and Eunwoo were looking for you. Jack-Coke, by the way.”
She laughed at his choice of drink matching his album, thankfully taking the drink and placing her free hand on his outstretched one. “I think I’ve got a bit of energy left as long as you guys stay with me.”
“Always.”
She definitely had more energy than she thought. Needless to say multiple videos of her vibing surfaced the internet, being a topic of conversation for a while.

Yoonmi loved her niece and nephew with all her heart.
That’s precisely why the moment her eldest brother called and asked her to watch over the two while he took his wife to the hospital for a checkup, she accepted. It would be a piece of cake, considering she has babysat Yoonseol before, and Hanseol was a very behaved baby boy.
But she didn’t consider the fact that she only started babysitting Yoonseol on her own when the little girl was four, and not when she was a six-month-old. And when the other Bangtan members were easy to call in for help, not while they were all on break, recovering, and recuperating
She found herself sitting in her studio just barely being able to juggle soothing Hanseol to sleep, working, and playing with Yoonseol.
“Unnie,” the little girl asked her, eyes wide with curiosity, “are you doing okay? Usually mommy and papa handle one of us each.”
“I’m just fine, Seollie,” she put on a smile before checking the time. It was almost lunch, and they hadn't eaten yet. “You know what, I’m being a bad playmate, so how about I treat you to whatever lunch you want? Dessert included.”
The six-year-old’s eyes lit up in excitement. “Really? Can we get that shrimp pasta from the good cafe? And the rainbow cake roll!”
Yoonmi pondered to herself. It would take a while, especially since she’d have to go there herself. The cafe didn’t have delivery. It would definitely coincide with Hanseol’s milk time, so she’d have to take his stuff with her. And she wasn’t entirely sold on walking around on the outside for a few blocks when she couldn’t hold Yoonseol’s hand.
Her eyes met the younger’s excited ones, making her sigh. She couldn’t back out of her own statement.
“Put on your coat,” she got up while gently placing Hanseol down for a minute so she could help Yoonseol and put on her own coat as well, “but you have to promise to stay a little bit in front of me, okay? I shouldn’t even be bringing you outside unless it’s by car to my place.”
“I won’t tell papa.” Yoonseol’s cheeky smile made Yoonmi laugh.
But, by some stroke of luck, she ran into Yeonjun just as they were headed to the elevator.
“Hey, Yoonmi sunbae!”
Her eyes widened as she quickly dodged the headlock the older boy was about to trap her in. “Baby! I have a baby in my arms!”
“Uncle Yeonjun!” Yoonmi watched while Yoonseol practically launched herself into Yeonjun’s arms. It was no secret that she loved the older boy. Yes, Bangtan, and Chan held the number 1 spot in her heart as her favorite uncles, but Soobin and Yeonjun came close second (apparently the other four don’t count as uncle/aunt because they were Yoonmi’s age and younger).
“Hey, kiddo,” Yeonjun picked her up, “I missed you. Did you miss me?”
“It’s been forever!” The little girl dragged out her last syllable, making all of them laugh.
Yeonjun turned to Yoonmi and looked at the little bundle in her arms. “And who is this? Is this Kim Hanseol? Where are you three headed?”
“Yup, this is my new little nephew,” Yoonmi adjusted the bag on her shoulder before holding up Hanseol for Yeonjun to say hi to. “We were just heading to that cafe that we like to go to for lunch.”
She didn’t miss the way Yeonjun gave her a sympathetic look or the way the gears turned in his head.
“How about I take this little one off your hands for a bit,” Yeonjun offered, “so she can meet Seri’s ten-year-old brother. Jihoon visited today, too. Would you like to meet him, Seol?”
Yoonseol looked at him a little skeptically. “The ten-year-olds in my neighborhood don’t like playing with me. They think I speak English too much.”
“Well,” Yeonjun ruffled the little girl’s hair, “Jihoon likes talking to us in English, too. I’m sure he’d love to play with you because you speak way better English than Beomgyu.”
The last bit was whispered, making Yoonseol giggle. “Okay.”
“That’s a lie, and you know it,” Yoonmi laughed, fully knowing that Beomgyu could easily follow her conversations with Seri and that he just wasn’t too confident with his grammar.
Yeonjun chuckled before raising his eyebrow. “So, what do you say, little sunbae? I can even take Hanseol for a bit.”
“No, uncle, he’s still too little,” Yoonseol informed him, “so papa wants him with unnie, Uncle Channie, or the Tannie Uncles only. Unnie, please? I want to play with Tubatu!”
Yoonmi looked towards Yoonseol’s pleading eyes then towards Yeonjun’s reassuring ones. It would mean an easier time for her, and it looked like Yeonjun was close to just running away with her niece.
“Okay,” Yoonmi relented, making the two cheer, “but behave, Seollie. You, too, oppa.”
The two saluted in unison before Yeonjun spoke. “Yes, ma’am. We’ll make sure everything is okay. I’ll even send one of the 01s to help you order lunch. Hey, Heeseung!”
She thought he was joking, but footsteps behind her started approaching them. Yoonmi turned around to find one of her close friends walking up to them with a smile on his face.
“Yes, hyung?” Heeseung smiled before pinching Yoonseol’s cheek and giving her a fist bump. “Hey, Yoonseol. Hey Yoonmi, and hello little baby– oh. He’s asleep.”
“Thank god you’re here,” Yeonjun chattered excitedly, “are you busy?”
“No, I don’t have vocal lessons until five—“
“Good,” Yeonjun quickly yet gently took the baby bag from Yoonmi’s shoulder and handed it to Heeseung, “can you help Yoonmi while she buys lunch? Thanks, bye!”
“Oppa!”
Yoonmi’s call was useless as Yeonjun ran down the hall, Yoonseol in his arms while they laughed. Oh, she already knew the two would wreak havoc wherever the other TXT kids were waiting for them.
“I am so sorry,” Yoonmi looked at Heeseung apologetically, “but you know how Yeonjun oppa can get. You don’t have to help me.”
Heeseung laughed. “It’s no big deal. You’ll need help carrying lunch back here, right? And it’s all good as long as I get to meet the little guy when he’s awake.”
“Thanks, Seung,” she smiled gratefully at him as they walked to the elevator. The clock on the inside showed 11:50. It was a ten minute walk to the cafe, so she’d have to feed Hanseol as soon as they got there. “Hey, could you possibly make some milk for him? The bottles there already have water, and the milk powder is pre-measured.”
“Sure,” Heeseung chuckled while opening the baby bag. “For being the Nation’s Makdungie and the hyungs’ baby, you’re such a single mom.”
“Excuse me, single dad of six?”
“Single dad of five,” Heeseung corrected, “we also have a Jay.”
“Whatever,” she laughed at him.
So maybe it wouldn’t be as easy to take care of a six-year-old and a six-month-old on her own. But, hey, at least she knew had friends that would help her.
idk if ur requests are open but if they are, could you do a small story about you mentioning yoonmi getting panic attacks on stage and maybe things fans could’ve done aside from the glares. like the lasers and if they ever threw anything or something
thank you in advance if you write it! ☺️☺️💜💜
hi hun! sorry this took so long, i know i said i’d try to post written stuff everyday, buuuut i suddenly was given the opportunity to babysit my baby cousin so i’ve been focusing on him for a bit aksjdhf but i’m working on another request, hannah content, and main timeline stuff rn! anyway, hereyago hun 🥰
WARNING: anxiety attack, mentions of hate, attempted blinding by laser pointer
—
Yoonmi was used to it.
All of the glares she received, she knew the other members would receive some as well. All of the hate she got, she knew becoming an idol would inevitably lead to that. The bad incidents with fans, well, she was for sure bound to experience a few of those. She got used to it all, especially since the hate on her significantly magnified once they got more recognition.
This didn’t mean she didn’t get hurt by everything, though. Both mentally and physically.
This is why all the glares she received as they performed “Fire” were still very unsettling to her.
Though she kept her confident stage persona since the performance started, she couldn’t help but notice most, if not all, people in the audience either giving her looks or not paying her any attention. The moment this processed in her head, she gave an inward sigh and became extra careful to not glance at her members or accidentally touch them.
‘Alright, Yoonmi,’ she thought to herself, ‘just get through the performance. You can sulk later, just get this performance over with.’
And it was going well until the final dance break happened. As she was squatting down for Taehyung’s solo line, she felt something in her eye. Blinking and squinting rapidly, she quickly realized it wasn’t something physical. She briefly recognized a red dot coming from the audience before her right eye lost vision.
Her breath hitched in her throat as she closed her right eye and looked away while following with the choreography.
It was only a few seconds, but was it possible that it blinded her? What was going to happen if she couldn’t see through her right eye? Would they cut her from the group? Would she have to stop being an idol entirely? Would she have to go to Australia now and live like a normal kid with her new family? Not that the last option was bad, but she really did want to stay and keep being an idol.
Her chest was tightening, heart feeling like something was clenching it. Breathing felt hard especially as they were going through the last bit of choreography. Everything felt too fast yet slowed down at the exact same time, and it was making her head spin. Not once did she open her right eye in fear of not being able to see.
She clenched her fists to stop them from shaking. As she finished up the last few counts and waited for Yoongi to walk backwards, she saw the red dot once again and quickly closed her left eye as well, but it wasn’t fast enough. Her hand went up to rub it a little as she walked to the back of the stage.
The moment she heard the signal through her in-ears that their stage was over for real, she blindly rushed off to the wings to the side where she knew her manager would be. Her breathing was haggard as she fell to her knees.
She could feel herself start to tear up, so she raised her hands to wipe the tears away. Her chest felt too tight to breathe, and her throat hurt. The overwhelming fear of not being able to see anything kept her from opening her eyes.
“Yoonmi?” The voice that called out to her was distant yet familiar. “Hey, kid. Breathe, alright? You’re good, you’re okay. You’re backstage now. Can you open your eyes for me?”
“Sejin oppa...” her voice barely came out as a whimper, “I don’t...”
Her lack of breathing made it hard for her to speak. She heard people coming towards her, and suddenly she felt more suffocated. She didn’t need all if the staff seeing her like this and thinking she was a brat or a crybaby, but she couldn’t stop herself.
All of a sudden, someone hoisted her up into their arms and ran off with her to what she assumed was their waiting room. Her hand was placed onto this person’s chest.
“Hey,” the voice she recognized as Jungkook’s murmured to her, “breathe with me, alright? It’ll be okay. Breathe. I’m right here, so are the hyungs. What’s wrong?”
“Can’t see,” was all she managed to get out, “laser.”
The older maknae cursed under his breath while lightly kicking a door open. It was at times like these when being given their own waiting room seemed a little more like a blessing than normal.
She felt herself being placed onto the couch and Jungkook’s hand pressing over her eyes, making everything darker.
Her chest grew tighter as she realized that Jungkook had carried her that long way. What if the fans saw? She isn’t supposed to be getting too touchy with him or they’d hate her even more!
“Take a deep breath for me, Mimi,” he instructed her as he kept her hand on his chest, her resistance making him worry just a little more. “In, out. Yeah, just like that. Hyung!”
“What’s going on?” That was Namjoon’s voice.
“I think she might be having an anxiety attack, and I think lasers made her vision weird?”
“Well, get your hands off her,” Yoongi’s voice called out. “Someone shut the door and turn the lights off, somebody else call a medic.”
The mixed conversations all sounded faint to her, but she felt Jungkook’s hands lifted away. This simultaneously relieved her yet scared her.
“Yoonmi,” Yoongi’s voice called out to her, “it’s Yoongi oppa. Can we touch you?”
Her chest tightened even more when she heard that. She shook her head and shifted herself so she was sitting with her knees up to her chest and hands in her hair.
“No, okay,” Yoongi reassured her. “That’s okay. Can you do me a favor? Can you remove your hands from your hair and clutch onto this pillow instead?”
She could feel a pillow being placed against her knees. Following Yoongi’s request, she pulled the pillow closer to her.
“Open your eyes for me, princess.”
“Can’t,” her voice was choked. “Don’t want to. Scared.”
“Okay, that’s fine for now,” the elder reassured her. “Let’s talk about something, yeah? How’s the filming for your variety show going? Are your unnies taking care of you?”
The question came out of the blue, confusing her. She felt someone press a tumblr into her hand. It didn’t feel like her usual tumblr. On instinct, she took a sip.
“They’re nice,” she whispered. “They take care of me, and we’re learning a song together. We’re gonna film a music video, too.”
“That’s good, princess,” Yoongi praised her, “I’m sure you’ll do great. How about your solo debut? How’s the album coming?”
“The planning is going fast,” she told him, still a little confused with why the sudden questions. “I have my title songs, I’m just working on my b-sides a little more.”
“Sounds good. Look at you, you’re breathing is back to normal now.”
It was when he said that that she realized she could breathe properly. Her chest was still a little tight, her throat dry as well, but significantly less than a while ago.
“Can I touch you?”
She bit her lip a little, unsure if she should allow. Fans would hate it. Then again, she was backstage, and she really needed some form of comfort then.
Once she nodded, she felt the couch dip next to her and someone, presumably Yoongi, pulling her into his side and wrapping an arm around her. She let out a long sigh before cautiously opening her left eye.
She could see the blurry figures of her members, making her shut her eye back in fear and bury her face into the pillow that she held.
“What’s wrong?” Seokjin’s voice asked worriedly from in front of her.
“Blurry,” her voice was muffled but heard by everyone, “you guys look blurry.”
“Don’t worry too much,” Namjoon’s voice came up. “It was probably a laser pointer, right? As long as it wasn’t directly in your eyes for too long, you’ll be fine. This blurriness is temporary, okay?”
“I hope so,” was the last thing she said before she heard the door open and Jimin’s voice.
notes: yoonmi visits shinee for the first time since minho got discharged
setting: early january of 2021
Yoonmi walks towards the SM practice room, an excited bounce in her step. No, she wasn’t on the way to visit her boyfriend. She was on her way to visit a few people who she’s known for longer than she’s known her boyfriend.
“Oppa!” The moment she opened the door, she ran straight towards Minho and gave him a hug. “You’re back!”
Minho chucked and hugged her back. The 31-year-old patted her head. “Yes, and in one piece.”
“Nice to see you, too, kiddo,” Key snorted from the side.
Yoonmi laughed and let go of Minho to approach the three other members. She gave Key a hug and felt herself being sandwiched from the back by Taemin. Giggles were all that came from her.
“To be fair, oppa,” she reasoned, “this is the first time I’ve seen Minho oppa since his last break. I’ve been seeing you three constantly the past month or so. And I saw Taemin oppa like every week for the past year.”
“That’s right,” Taemin poked her cheek.
She pressed her lips into a tight smile and escaped their hug sandwich. Next thing she knew, she was tucked under Onew’s arm and smiling at them.
“You’re complete,” she cheered. “After two years, all five of you are here!”
The four older boys gave her soft smiles. She grinned in content and wrapped her arms around Onew’s middle. It was nice to see them all there. She could see the small photo of Jonghyun that they stuck up on the mirror as if to have him watch over them while they practice.
“I still think it’s unfair that you clearly have your favorites,” Key booped her nose. “I mean, you waited for Jinki hyung’s discharge right outside his station.”
She scrunched her nose at him. That was true. She had ran and hugged the elder, and it was an airport moment. Onew had lifted her, swinging them a little to keep them from toppling over due to her momentum. A video of that somehow made it into twitter and trended for a week.
“I’m not playing favorites,” she stuck her tongue out at the Daegu boy, “you guys are brothers. Jinki oppa is a dad.”
“Well aren’t you a smart little kid?”
“I’m an adult now!”
“Stop,” Taemin groaned, “You can’t be an adult! You were literally a baby when we met you!”
She gave him a playful smile before laughing. She remembered that day. She was a small and shy 13-year-old girl who met the group that inspired and comforted her. Now, they were as good as family to her. Almost as much as Bangtan.
“It may have been eight years,” Minho ruffled her hair, “but she’s still a baby.”
She gave him a look. “You sound like the Bangtan oppas.”
“I’ve been chatting with Taehyung a lot recently.”
Onew chuckled and patted her head. “Okay, I’m gonna go and order lunch. How about you learn the dance to our comeback song while waiting?”
Her eyes lit up as she skipped over to the center of the practice room in front of the mirrors. The three younger SHINee members followed after her to show her what their choreography looks like. Onew smiled fondly at them and pulled out his phone to order food. With how excited the boys get whenever the little ray of sunshine visits them, their energy just skyrockets.
“Oppa, nothing too spicy, please!”
Onew looked up and smiled at the younger girl while Key lightly teased her about not being able to handle spicy food.
Can we get a angsts/fluffy Drabble of yoonmi writing deep dark and emotional lyrics and the boys freaking out/ if she’s okay bc of it?
suresies hun! 🥰 here’s a little look at how the boys tend to react when they think yoonmi is spiraling. the song is to my youth by bol4!
warning: mentions of wanting to disappear
It wasn’t long since Yoonmi decided she wanted to put songs on the group’s soundcloud. Sure, she could easily release them to the public since she just debuted as a soloist, but she wanted it to be something only ARMYs knew. Even then, though, there were still some ARMYs look down on her as well, so she was pretty sure one of them or more may leak her songs to the public for haters to see. As much as she hoped that wouldn’t happen, she was mentally preparing for it. They all knew it. The seven boys had already agreed to remind ARMYs to keep it to themselves and not put the song on twitter, youtube, or any other social media.
Jimin was curious. She had been working on a few songs for the past few days even while they were on tour, yet she never let anyone hear them. But, he knew not to press.
He was standing outside her hotel room, and he told himself that all he was there for was to make sure she ate the food he dropped off earlier and went to sleep.
No one answered when he knocked on the door. Taking the spare key he borrowed from Namjoon, Jimin made his way into her room only to find her asleep on top of her covers, notebook open and pencil in hand.
A fond smile made its way onto his face while he picked her up and properly tucked her into bed. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see her setup on the table. She must have been working on something. He went to pick up her notebook and pencil to put them away, but the words on the page caught his eye.
At some point in my life, I used to wish that I could disappear from this world
The whole world seemed so dark, I cried every night
Will my mind feel at ease if I just disappeared?
I was so afraid of everyone’s eyes on me
He didn’t mean to see it! Really! But his eyes caught the first line, and Jimin had to make sure he read that correctly.
As he progressed through the lyrics she had written, it felt like a cavity kept growing in his chest. Was this really what went through her mind? He thought they had finally helped her get all those negative feelings out, but did she just keep it to herself?
He frowned. Keeping things to herself to not make the older members worry sounded exactly like something Yoonmi would do. He wouldn’t stand for this, though.
With a troubled heart, he messaged the others.
Yoonmi woke up only to find herself being squished in between Jungkook and, from the perfume she could smell, Yoongi. She blinked herself awake before sitting up only to find all of the boys in her room.
Her sleepiness was gone in an instant. Did something happen? Was there something wrong? Were they in trouble? Worry filled her up until a hand on her shoulder made her jump. It was Yoongi.
“Oppa,” she whispered to not wake anyone else, “what’s going on?”
“Princess, we need to talk.”
She practically deflated upon hearing those words.
“You’re not in trouble,” Yoongi reassured her, “not at all. We just need to talk about something.”
Yoonmi squinted her eyes at him as Yoongi got up to wake everyone else. Her eyes fixed on the desk where her setup was all cleaned up, but her notebook was open. Oh.
Someone sat on the foot of the bed in front of her. “Hey, makdungie.”
Yoonmi turned towards Namjoon hesitantly. “Hi. Is this about my song?”
“A little, yeah,” he gave her a solemn smile, “but more on why didn’t you say anything to us?”
It was then when she felt someone pull her onto their lap. Jungkook. He rested his chin on top of her head before lightly flicking her knee.
“No disappearing. Not on me.”
She patted his hand. “I’m not planning to. It’s just... It’s a fleeting thought. That’s all.”
“If it’s enough to write a song about, then it’s much more than that,” Taehyung noted, Jimin nodding in agreement beside him.
“Princess, have you been reading through hate again?” Seokjin sat next to Namjoon and lightly cradled her face.
Hoseok gave her a stern look. “You know we made the no social media rule for a reason, right?”
“It’s not that, I swear,” she reassured them. “I was just looking through my old diary, and I saw those. I remembered what I felt, and so I wrote about it.”
There was a silence as the members tried to see if she was lying. Yoongi, who sat next to her once again, tightened his grip on her hand.
“You’re sure it isn’t thoughts right now?” Namjoon’s worry was clear in his voice.
“They come still, but it’s all fleeting. Besides, have you should hear what I have for the full song.”
She tried to move to her desk, but Jungkook’s arms tightened around her waist. Hoseok brought her laptop over.
“I haven’t written it down or recorded it yet,” she began as she looked through her files, “but here’s what the bridge is going to be.”
She took a deep breath and pressed play before singing along to her instrumental.
“But still, maybe I can be a bright light in this world. Maybe after all of that pain I can shortly shine a light. So I couldn’t give up. I couldn’t fall asleep peacefully for a single night because maybe if I keep trying to get up like this, I will find myself.”
She pressed pause again and looked at her members while tugging on the ends of her hair. She stopped chewing at her bottom lip enough to ask them how it was.
Yoongi pressed a kiss to her forehead while Namjoon smiled at her. “I’m proud of you, Princess.”
“You’re already a light to us.”
It was like Seokjin’s words pulled everyone out of their own thoughts. She found herself in the middle of a group hug. She laughed a little.
“I hope you guys didn’t get too worried.”
“Promise me you’ll come to us if these thoughts come to mind again?” Jimin hooked his pinky onto hers.
notes: yoonmi spends some time at mark’s in the midst of them preparing for their releases. their conversations happen in english so i wont be using the italics here akshfhf
setting: some time in late april/early may
Yoonmi laid in Mark’s bed, glancing between her laptop and his back. She decided to come over that night just to check up on him to make sure he, and the rest of the dreamies, weren’t overworking themselves for their comeback.
The past hour has been filled with her working on schoolwork while Mark’s constant muttering and humming filled the silence. He had been working on making new songs on his own laptop on his desk. The whole time, though, the two haven’t spoken. Aside from Yoonmi giving him a small kiss on the cheek or on the lips whenever she left the room to get water or go to the bathroom, they didn’t really mind each other. Well, Mark didn’t.
Sure, this was how they usually were, but she was in the mood for actually spending time with each other together and not doing their own things.
Her phone dinged, pulling her out of her thoughts. It was a message from Jisung.
거대한 쥐🐹: hey, you’re in the dorms?
me: yeah why?
거대한 쥐🐹: wanna come over to the eighth floor? hannah noona says mark hyung’s way too in the zone to do anything else
거대한 쥐🐹: i can try teaching you mario kart again
me: sure
me: give me a few minutes, i’ll be right up there
거대한 쥐🐹: got it. hurry up, haechan hyung wants you to try this new thing he cooked
She laughed and put her phone back into her cardigan’s pocket. “Oppa, I’m heading over to the Dream dorm. Jisung wants to teach me games and Donghyuck oppa wants me to try something he cooked.”
“Okay,” he hummed in response.
She got out of bed and moved to walk past him, but she was held back before she could walk out the door. Mark was holding on to her arm.
“Hold on, Love,” he began, “did I do anything wrong?”
“Of course not.” Her giggles filled the room while she scrunched her nose at him. “What makes you say that?”
“You give me little kisses before you leave the room.” The slight pout on his face made her shake her head at him.
“I just didn’t want to interrupt your flow,” she said before placing a kiss on his nose. “Jisung says you’re way too in the zone right now.”
“Well,” the older pulled her onto his lap, placing a hand on her cheek and pulling her forward so their foreheads were pressed together, “I’ll focus on you now.”
She melted into his hold when he pulled her in for a kiss. Her hands rested on his chest while she let him hold her up.
A short while passed before Yoonmi pulled away a little, giggling at how Mark chased after her. “I told Jisung I’d head up there.”
With a kiss to her cheek, Mark pulled her phone out of her pocket and messaged Jisung through it.
Me: you can’t steal my girlfriend from me. better luck next time, sung -mark hyung
거대한 쥐🐹: 🤦🏻
거대한 쥐🐹: yoonmi, you’re coming over here next time instead of down there
She watched in amusement while Mark placed her phone with his on his desk. Squeals escaped her mouth when Mark lifted her up and carried her to his bed.
“We,” he began while getting them both under the covers, “are going to cuddle and talk about what happened in our day. You have all my attention, my little star.”
“First of all, I might need a date to Jiwoo unnie’s wedding.”
“I’m all yours. Well, that is if Jungkook hyung doesn’t beat me to it. Or Yoongi hyung. Or honestly the rest of the Bangtan hyungs.”
The grin on her face while her heart lightened was all too much for her. She pressed a kiss to her boyfriend’s lips and tucked her head under his chin to listen to his heartbeat while she spoke about their practice earlier that day.
Most of the time, she’s completely content with spending time with each other in silence, but, sometimes, she enjoyed being like this.
