okay so before we get into this i want to say i havent watched technoblade’s latest stream in its entirety and i havent seen the part where he outright says he doesnt see the sbi dynamic as canon so im mostly operating off of word of mouth at the moment (+clips ive seen) and what philza said in HIS stream, so.

Okay but in all seriousness, I was a little upset to hear that SBI wasn’t an actual family the same as everyone else. It’s not world-ending for me, I read DC comics after all; but understandably this has upset a lot of people. It killed Sleepytwt AND the Technoblade tag on tumblr for at least a couple hours.

But lets examine what this means for Technoblade *the character* for a moment.

From what I’ve seen, he’s said that he rejects the SBI family dynamic because it doesn’t make sense in canon. Another thing he said is that betraying family members makes no sense. The conclusion I draw from this is that a) Techno is canonically loyal to his family and b) this doesn’t immediately negate what the others have said. There is a chance that Wilbur could have sparred with Techno when they were younger, and from Wilbur’s (/rp) perspective, they were “like” brothers, but not really. 

Phil has also said that he wants Techno and Phil to have been through a lot of shit, so much that they were like family, just not blood. Although there is that bit where Phil mentions knowing Techno when he was younger when Techno shares that he hears voices with Phil, but I think this could probably be chalked up to them knowing each other for a very long time.

While I would have liked to have seen a character that puts his morality above even his family, the added lore that Techno is loyal to his family serves to humanize the character for us. 

And this isn’t to say an unofficial found family dynamic hasn’t already begun to foster between Tommy and Techno; because the two characters clearly have a connection/bond in the works. 

So, those are my thoughts on all of this!
