Thinking about how Sora's best and worst traits are so undeniably tied together. Or more, those flaws stemming from those best traits due to the twist of experiences that make him hold onto his strengths to the point they turn back around and break him bit by bit.

He's empathetic, he's optimistic, he isn't easily swayed by the darkness. Except, he's bottling up his negative emotions in the way he sometimes evades serious conversations about his own personal feelings. How he's told not to change and that, of course, he's strong enough to get through all the pain and fix things.

Both allies and enemies need him so they use him, and yet he's also put down. He's just a delivery boy, he's just a pawn, he's just a puppet, he's just the next name down the list, he's just a dull and ordinary boy.

Don't worry, he'll forgive.

Don't worry, he won't remember.

Don't worry, he'd be willing to have his heart crushed to pieces to protect his loved ones.

And don't worry, he's more than happy to sacrifice himself repeatedly if he feels that there's no other way.

Except, he's just a kid. He struggles and gets affected by those words, those titles, the weight of a role that demands everything out of him and yet tells him he isn't enough. He wins because of love and spite, but those never go without consequence. He isn't the kind of hero that gets a happily ever after without having to pay the price.

Just something about how while Sora's strengths are, clearly, his strengths, it sometimes gets used to a point that it creates or pushes out the issues that come from letting him go unchecked, and yet oftentimes we see how both his allies and enemies benefit from his best bringing out the worst in him.

I don't know if I'm making sense, I'm just putting the Sora angst in the microwave of my brain...

Making Kingdom Hearts Stuff Until KH4 Comes Out (Day 414)

It's such a small thing but I think about those moments where Sora just wants to enjoy a moment but then the constant reminders of what he has to do never really gives him the space to do so.

Like when the trio were enjoying the lanterns but they're attacked by Nobodies. The sequence of the Nobodies appearing, then the three of them already knowing the they're there without looking, then Sora specifically getting up while sighing in exasperation before scolding them over having bad timing always stuck with me. They then go into this fight with a veteran's confidence, but it still lingered in my mind.

It's reminiscent to how he's reacted in the past, his sort of annoyance with being sent on difficult and dangerous missions (ie KH2). He'll do it all the same, but he's progressively gotten less and less time to fully enjoy himself.

And it kinda showed too when the others reminded him that he needed to get his powers back, and he often responded with things like "Did you have to remind me?" and "Eh we'll figure it out or something, I don't know". Sora wants to be able to go to these worlds and have fun, but as time passes, he can't really afford the same kind of luxury anymore. Not that he doesn't have fun in worlds after, he has lots of it, but the stakes continuously higher, and in KH3, it's kinda left a specific impression on me compared to the past games.

It kinda leads to Hundred Acre Wood and Sora's need to get things over with there ASAP when he realized there wasn't that big of a problem there. He felt that he didn't have the time.

Which, considering how KH3 ended, Sora not having time is like his whole thing for the game. In hindsight, KH3 is him running out of time.

What a time to have played/watched the mobile games!!!!!

Okay, so I've had a few minutes to calm down and like I'm going to put a little more coherent thoughts.

KH4!!!!

The influx of new (actually familiar faces) had me losing it because!!! Vali (has to be Vali)!!! with a new keyblade!!!

And then the guy who I'm like 95% sure is Sigurd ToT We might've lost Missing Link but I'm so happy to know we're (probably) not gonna get any shortage of that guy, he's way too important (if that's really him)

Also Real-Name-Impending Luxord looks cool!!

And I'm not putting all the screenshots but all of Sora's combat stuff!! The keyblade?? "Heart Barrage"??? The summoning keyblades to ride on thing??? (they were so fast to not show the name of the command LOL)

ALSO ALSO, all the dialogue in the beginning about how the KH characters coming into Quadratum brought in the manifestations of light and darkness which probably messed with the world's system in some way...AAAAhhhh consequences of the actions made in the mobile games!! WE ARE SO HEEEERE!!!

Those were just some of my additional thoughts following up the initial wave of freaking out!!

Turns out I'm still in Sora angst mode ToT

I'm thinking about how this is the only shot of Sora we get to see of his full expression in Kairi's eyes since it's not shown like that in-game.

Unlike KH1 and KH2, where we see that perspective in the cutscene directly, you never really see Sora's face in KH3's ending at all. It's either obscured or more from the side.

His expression is calm and the smile subdued in a way, it feels reassuring but in the way someone might be when they're trying to reveal something big in the gentlest way possible. It's really something that even with Re:Mind ending, a frontal shot of Sora's face wasn't given (we only got the addition of him saying something before she sheds a tear). Something something the way Sora's resolute in his choice, but also the tragedy of not really seeing his expressions throughout this section, something about the acceptance of his circumstances but the bitterness of it all.

Many thoughts...many thoughts...

Always a smile from Sora...even in sacrifice.

So, under the theory/idea that keyblade wielders aren't or won't be as accepted in Quadratum, what if the people Sora had saved and had seen him in closely in detail outed him to authorities or something like that?

Just the general concept of Sora's good will towards others being used against him and him struggling with choosing to help others because he'd get betrayed by them.

I was thinking of a whole "Kingdom Hearts but only in Sora's POV" thing which is kind of funny since we techncially play the mainline games in his perspective, but imagine a genuine, only what Sora's there for experience.

He's missing so much context, and we know he doesn't have all the information but thinking about it in detail is both hilarious and makes me inclined go like "man......."

Or something more like, "Kingdom Hearts but only what Sora remembers by the end of 3" and you don't even have CoM, meeting Aqua, or saving Ven's heart twice since bro doesn't fully remember that ToT
