It takes a little longer than Jason expected but not too long- Butterfingers, Dum-E, and U don’t seem to grasp what’s going on or why he’s saying good-bye, but Jason’s able to tell the bots he’s proud of them and to keep doing good work before he moves on to Friday, asking her to clear her records of him training and fighting out of her systems- he doesn’t like leaving that information lying around, even in another universe.

She directs him to his jacket, the worn leather with the hand-mended rips and the DIY pockets, neatly folded, and in its place, he leaves the case of knives (too flashy for work), the feather-patterned hoodie (not his style- he’d only ever worn it to lounge at home), and the cuff and the teleportation discs (a crutch he doesn’t need). He hesitates with the pomegranate pendant in hand before tucking it back in the pocket of his jeans, staring for a long time at the updated jacket before reasoning with himself that it’s practical for Gotham’s cold winters and shoving it back under his arm with his old one.

It makes his heart clench a little to know he isn’t coming back here. He pats the wall gently and then thumbs his skimmer, vanishing back to his own world.
