so because the hinge on one side of this old pentium iii satellite was outright shattered internally, and the hinge on the other side was weirdly stiff and looking close to breaking, the thing didn’t close right anymore. and the hinge issues were also keeping the dvd drive from opening!
so i took off the screen all together (that screen still works fine! but it wasn’t worth the hundreds it’d cost to source replacement hinges) and stored that away. and now it’s simply running headless-ish.
and you know what? toshiba’s pointing stick design for the mouse input remains really comfortable to use!
