Basement arc
Flame-izer, wanted for kidnapping.
Aria Bun, escaped victim.
Winter Call, escaped victim.
But for how long?
Flame has started going crazy. She leaves food in empty cells, shouting out for her hands to come eat, only to be rudely reminded that they left a long time ago. Her phoenix, Scarlett, searches the skies. Her kraken, Seafoam, scans the seas. Packs of wolves, tanukis, and foxes lurk in the woods. Canaries, crows, and owls keep lookout in the trees.
Until Scarlett found something: gray feathers
Aria's feathers.
Flame appears in a torrent of fire, allowing Scarlett to perch on her shoulder. She holds the feather in between her two fingers, a cocky smirk rising to her face.
Can't run for long anymore, can you?
As Winter and Aria are settling down in camp for the night, they can feel a sudden wave of heat wash over them. The forest feels engulfed in dry, hot air. It's not enough to make you sweat, but enough to be bothersome.
All of a sudden, a torrent of flame shoots in from the sky, disappearing just as quickly. The caw of the crow is heard, the howl of the wolf rings out, foxes yip, canaries sing. And in the middle of it all, a barking laugh.
"Good job my phoenix! Go rest, you've earned it. All of you! Go rest, you've all earned it! I'll carry in looking myself."
Aria grabs Winter's shoulder, pulling her down behind a tent they set up earlier. They both looked at each other, because they recognized that voice.
Flame has found them.
