Perhaps it was because this community is small but I do wonder the lack of shipping happening in You-Jitsu/CotE fandom. Maybe it was also that the amount of people reading the LN is healthy, normal person.

Personally, as multishipper, I've already shipped Ayano with most characters that play an important part at some point.

So I'mma talk about this currently. Be aware I do ship Yaoi.

Let's talk about the first one, the most generic to LN reader, Kei. This one is cute. I rather like it. For now. I mean, they are cute with each other but I can't support for long term, serious couple. I- forget this, I can't talk further about this couple without downgrading Kei. But I do ship them.

Then the next one is generic for anime watcher, Suzune. Well, um, I did post on Twitter how I already dislike her even from when I watch the anime. So uh, no. She is beautiful, but no.

Then Airi. She's cute. Little cinnamon roll. Well, I don't mind this ship maybe as snippets or something but no as well. They're not exactly suited with each. I would like relation where 'Airi would grow unconditionally support Ayanokouji despite knowing her feeling won't reach him' kind. Maybe get herself a boyfriend, who knows.

Sakayanagi. Hmm, power couple I guess. While Sakayanagi could not compete with Ayanokouji but she will do her best to grow and stand alongside Ayanokouji. She is one of the person who Ayanokouji is rather comfortable with. I do like if Sakayanagi gets competitive and wants to have a match with Ayanokouji, even if it's against other competitors (aka Ryuuen for same year) to do that.

Ryuuen, like Sakayanagi are one of the person that could reach and stand beside Ayanokouji. He would cough blood and crawl even if he had to, that's just how he is. Which is also why Ayanokouji rather look forward to his growth and their rematch if that will happen.

And imagine Ryuuen and Sakayanagi fighting each other with complicated words when in fact it was just them fighting over who will have a rematch with Ayanokouji first childishly. To Ayanokouji at least.

...Then let's talk about Horikita senior, Manabu. Hear me out, for the love of god why no one ship them? Like, the first and only ship I have when watching the anime would be this. I don't ship with anyone else anymore but him. Like, you guys see Manabu attacking Ayanokouji out of nowhere in that Sudou case? I ship them from first meeting but that one is ✨. I can't really see their relationship but I do can see how Manabu would take care of Ayanokouji's trivial thing, maybe like whether he's doing fine, eating fine, or having good sleep thanks to one fic. In LN, Ayanokouji also speak of him rather weirdly. I don't know if it was because Manabu is third year and he didn't see the need to be cautious of him to calculate on him but the way he talk about Manabu on his monologue is the most neutral way he did compared to any other people. He have rather good words for him. On when Manabu leave the school, his monologue almost gave impression that he does care about Manabu personally.

Then Hiyori. I don't need to speak further because their relationship already speak for themselves. Reading buddy. And Hiyori is cute.

Ichinose. As much as I want to deny this, the dynamic I have in mind for them is toxic. But at the same time it's merciful. We know in LN Ayanokouji manipulate Ichinose a lot and also forces her to stay strong and continue lead the class. He gave her motivation and fire to move on. At the same time, he promised to finish her off should she fail. Why I say merciful is because he helps her and he also know that of Ichinose couldn't hold herself in a den of snakes, then she'll get bit and poisoned to death painfully. That's why he promised a quick end. The way he tell her though, giving her hints and all, using her weakest moment is not healthy. I am positive that Ichinose did have feeling for him because of this.

I almost forgot Yousuke. Even though I wrote a fic for this ship XD. You see...there are hints. I don't believe nothing happen around them. The fact that Ayanokouji is the first person he asked whether or not he could call him with his first name? And how easily Yousuke would open up with Ayanokouji and the amount of trust he have on him. In a sense, I think Yousuke is almost the same with Kei. He know that Ayanokouji is capable of something great, and he relies on that, making it into a sense of relief inside himself.

Then the last. For now. Since I'm currently reading year 2 volume 2. I haven't ship Ayanokouji with anyone 1st year yet. Probably I won't.

It is Kiryuuin. An oddball second year that has just been introduced for a few minutes and I fucking love her. She's damn gorgeous. She has already had an interest toward Ayanokouji. If it was the past him, he'll do his best to make her lost that interest but now with his showdown against the White Room student and Tsukishiro, I don't think that will really happen. This is weird but I can't wait her being beaten by Ayanokouji XD. Just like Kouenji. She's almost like Ryuuen in their dynamic though.

Aaaand that's all.

The reason why I didn't ship with anyone outside Ayanokouji's class and someone that's not leader, like Kamuro and Ibuki was because I can't see the dynamic or chemistry. And they kinda barely interact with Ayanokouji. Well, Ibuki did but those are more funny to me. I can't see them together in any way.

Analysis on CotE opening song, [Caste Room] by ZAQ.

Warning on LN spoiler.

The thing about the opening song is that, when you hear it first time. It feel like it didn't fit the anime, because of the protagonist, Ayanokouji is shown emotionless and cold while the song is passionate and speaking of dream. Even the anime theme by nature when you watch is more detached since most of them are chasing their selfish reason. Like Horikita. And in addition how they are projecting characters are selfish.

I used to think this song is more like representing the whole class that is gradually starting to change and accepting other as partner/comrade to fight with.

However, the more I hear, the more I think it is indeed fit Ayanokouji, the protagonist of the story.

When you hear it, "freedom" is a term that was mentioned numerous time in the lyrics and we all know that Ayanokouji only desire freedom within the restricted situation that was caused his father.

"How will you live in this restricted freedom?"

Next will be this phrase:

"Change shouldn't be feared."

Now while this could also apply to any other characters that Ayanokouji forces to change and grow, at the same time Ayanokouji himself also undergo changes himself along the way and he knows of that. He also mentioned that in order to "learn" he need to take a step to change to understand them.

"In this place that I have found that I belong."

Is how he said that he belongs to that school no matter how many people oppose that.

The bonds that was mentioned is rather clear that he was talking about the people around him such as the closest example is Karuizawa. Whether or not he values them is another question but it was surely there. The one he established as he offered a hand to the weak one like how he did to Nanase.

"I reach out, so take hold- the world isn't just you- I'll fight alongside you."

Is also referring to that. Just like how he reaches out to Horikita. Although it was just pretext and we know how much of an unreliable narrator and a liar Ayanokouji is.

In the beginning, he did reach out by saying he'll help but as time goes on, he changed his word and saying to rely on other classmate that had undergo by huge margin of change thanks to him just like what he did to Hirata but this is another topic with spoiler of the events further ahead.

Well, this is just a thought of my own because this is rather linked with the LN and goes a little further than the anime. These lyrics could also fit the Class D as a whole but some did not fit in my honest opinion.

I am not sure who'll this "butterfly" is intended to be but I feel like it's those people that are forcing Ayanokouji to take part and do more, Just like how his father said him to be a masterpiece that will lead even the world, he did not believe Ayanokouji is fully capable of completely staying low.

And truth to be told, through his own mind thinking to help his classmate because things would be troublesome if he let the class crumble into the ground very early; he ended up carrying the whole class with what he thought would be the very bare-minimum act so he wouldn't get suspected and went slightly more flashy to attain complete victory on the island battle because of Chabashira's threat.

He is not fit as someone to completely lay low.

"Are you satisfied with where you are now?"

With how he is taking the Student Council President and Acting Director as enemy officially (AKA them waging war with him), I think not.

So I have been into You-Jitsu a lot. By that I mean a lot. I've been shit-posting a ton in Twitter but it tends to get long. Twitter can't have long post for shit so I was forced to make long thread and for fuck sake I can't use Twitter for shit. I don't even know how to save as draft. And so, my long as thread yesterday happened to go *poof*. Gone. Because I was busy and forgot to post it and it didn't save automatically.

I was traumatized.
