Five did you know that there are still colleges require swimming as an entrance requirement or for graduation? When I found this out, I realized I could not go to some of the colleges that accepted me for undergrad because I would not be able to swim. It caused me to pause. On the surface, the rule makes sense. We should all have some basic survival skill, swimming is one of them. Yet, when you look deeper, and think about who access to pools, who has a pool in their house, and who historically would have been good swimmers when these rules were made, I can't help but think that swimming is another hurdle or obstacle to separate higher education from certain classes. This thought help me build the world of Floaters and Rocks for Swimming Pool Party. It wasn't a war that created this futuristic society. IT was systematic change over time. With rules that people thought were innocuous, and then festered into the segregation between those who can't and can swim that rules this futurustic universe. #SwimmingPoolParty #YouCanFloat #CreativeChange #VisionsandVoices #Swim #ConfrontReframe #InstitutionalizedWater #NoEducationforYou #SystemGame #GameTheSystem #highered (at Los Angeles Swim Stadium) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwgmCszAbDA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mrg82qjausep
