Always You

His heart ached. What happens when life gives you your soulmate but then it snatches her away from you? Things like this only happened in romance novels. No happy endings. Well, he was sure Peggy would get her happy ending, but him? He was the Captain of Bad Luck. It wasn't ending today, and he hated living with the gut wrenching knowledge of knowing his true love had found someone else. Not that he could blame the other guy, Peggy was a catch. Any guy would be lucky to have her. She was one in a million. He sacrificed being with her to save the world. A world so that she could be in. Peggy was a trailblazer and would change the world. The would needed Peggy Carter more than they needed Steve Rogers.
He wanted to be able to support her, but it was hard when he was so madly in love with her. Steve felt like all he was going to do would be to make things worse for her. Even though he desperately wanted her. Wanted to be able to wrap his arms around her, kiss her and make love to her. Every single day. He gave her a soft smile, his eyes unable to stop glancing down at the ring that was on her finger. "I wish it was me in his shoes."

A soft whimper escaped her as his lips slotted over hers and she felt as though something had finally clicked into place. She hadn’t been the only one fighting this attraction and now she couldn’t even think why she had done so in the first place. This was so much better than denying herself. Peggy’s hands gripped his shoulders as she returned the kiss enthusiastically. She could feel that they’d done this before, but that kiss had been more of a good-bye and this? This was a hello, a token for a new beginning. She gently nibbled on his bottom lip before soothing the slgiht sting away with another kiss.
Steve groaned, a desperate and needy sound as his arms wrapped more tightly around Peggy and he reached to tangle fingers in her hair as he took and took and took and finally tasted those perfect lips and held that perfect frame against him. He couldn't get enough of her, never would be able to, and as Peggy lavished attention to his lips he answered in kind by sucking gently on hers. Without hesitating the blond pulled her closer, hooking his free hand under the curve of her backside and tugging her upwards so he could catch her by the hip and lift Peggy into his available arm.

Peggy’s expression was serene as he looked back at her, her fingers never stopping their gentle movements in his hair. She propped her chin on his shoulder as she looked at his handsome face. There were still hints of the brave soldier she’d first met in his face and even in his body, though it was much bigger now. “You,” she answered in that same amused tone before winking roguishly at him.
Steve watched her carefully as she looked over his features, a little perplexed at how intently she was staring. His face tinted a soft shade of rouge when she spoke and he swallowed noticeably. He licked his lips, “me...?” he asked, smiling a bit more coyly, trying not to let his nerves show, and trying his best to calm his heart rate. “How do you mean?” he cooed quietly, slowly turning to the side to face her better.

Her gaze went soft at his words. “It’s been coming to me in flashes over the past few weeks. When they brought me the things from my old life…my personal belongings. When I saw the locket…when I saw his picture, I knew. I remembered.” She looked down at the locket with a sad smile before looking back up at him. “Why wouldn’t I tell you? I loved my brother so very much. I know that I did. I can feel it. I kept this locket through all of this. I remember him fondly. I loved him in the way only little sisters can. He got me the position with Churchill in the SOE. I let Fred talk me out of it. I let Fred convince me to be his wife and leave my aspirations behind so that I would fit in with him. When Michael died the day of my wedding, I left Fred at the alter and I joined the SOE. After that assignment, I was brought in by the SSR. I went undercover with HYDRA to get Erskine out.” Once she started talking, it was easy to get out. “The rest, as you know, is history.”
Steve listened, recognizing this small gift for what it was. What Peggy remembered, she was willing to share with him and was doing it. It was almost a great a gift as the ones in his hand, finally hearing about the woman he'd loved since the beginning and where she'd come from. He'd always known she would have an amazing story but he'd never had the bravery to ask after it and she had never quite offered it so freely before. Still he listened, nodded with rapt interest. "I guess we... Just didn't ever talk very much about ourselves, Peg," he finally offered by way of an explanation when she was done. He added a shrug. "There was a war going on, strategies to be worked. You already knew a lot about me, and it felt... inappropriate to be asking after you. But I'm glad... I'm glad you've decided to tell me now. I'm glad you remembered it. It sounds like Michael was a very important person to you. It's a shame he was lost so quickly."
“It’s nothing.”
@youcantgivemeorders
“Peggy, that is not nothing!” Steve exclaimed, hurrying forward to try to examine the full extent of the bruising. He wanted to take her into his arms, both to look at her injuries further and because Peggy getting hurt frightened him like nothing else could. He was more than aware that she could take care of herself, but it still sent his heart pounding whenever she came home injured. “What happened?”
The Dance (Closed)
Checking himself in the mirror, Steve tried a smile. Unfortunately, the smile faded as he looked at his suit, it definitely didn’t fit his personality. The suit was so tight, in all the right places, so to speak. A sigh escaped his lips as he ran his fingers through his short blonde hair, he hoped Peggy wouldn’t thing he looked like a total jerk.
After brushing off the dirt, Steve walked into the bathroom to do a spritz of cologne. Checking himself over one more time in the mirror, he walked out of the apartment and went to his motorcycle, it was the only mode of transport he had, and he hoped Peggy would be okay with riding on the back. Steve grabbed the helmet and put it on for safe keeping, so when he could let Peggy wear it when he got to her place.
Revving the engine, Steve took off down the road towards Peggy’s House. Going down a couple of streets, and making a few turns, he eventually arrived. Steve parked out front, putting the helmet on the side of the bike. Walking up to the door he took a deep breath and knocked, his heart racing inside his chest.
