The fundraiser for the Pipsqueakery's very first rescue center includes the ability for donors to name rooms in the facility, and I'm here to tell you that the bathroom has been named by my mom! The bathroom in The Pipsqueakery Rescue Center will bear a sign reading "Potty Like a Rockstar" and the names Olivia, Lucy, and Toby! Olivia is the dog pictured in these photos. She was rescued by my family when a puppy mill in southern Indiana was shut down in 2009. The beginning was rough. She was terrified of everything. We couldn't walk her because she was terrified of the cars, if a train came by blocks away while she was outside peeing she would dive to the ground and cry, and she was terrified of strangers. But she loved our family. Sometimes around 4am she would start barking and crying in her kennel until I would come downstairs to be with her. She would go back to sleep, but only on my chest breathing her stinky dog breath right in my face. God forbid a car came by or I coughed while she was sleeping there. But I let her wake me up and sleep like that because she seemed to feel safe there and I loved her. Over time Olivia blossomed into a a real dog and she got better about going outside. Whenever she went outside to pee my mom would tell her to "potty like a rockstar" She still didn't do walks, but she wasn't scared of everything anymore. She learned she loved scritches from my mom, especially when there was a yoga mat out to play on. If you scratched her butt she would put her head down on the ground and stand on her back tippy-toes as if she was trying to reach those scratches just a little bit more. Sometimes she would even roll over on her back when she forgot that she was supposed to be scared of doing that. We are so honored to have our bathroom named in honor of Olivia and also very surprised that it was one of the first big room to be named!
